Interactive museum for young children offering exhibits on science, technology, health & culture.
Its small and not a ton there but the people are nice and the kids enjoy it.
Its a good place to take your kids, but it feels more like a playground than a museum. Other childrens museums Ive been too were more interactive, and theyre just as fun for the parents as it is for the kids. I found myself standing around with other parents, on our phones, while the kids played. One problem is the exhibits just arent big enough. But if youre looking for something to do with your kids downtown, its a good time.
The Childrens museum, as a local attraction for children is lovely. Hours of creative play, with clean facilities and a kind staff, but as a venue for a child’s birthday party it is above and beyond. The employee who helps with party planning(Susanis just a JOY to work with. The food was perfect and all our guests were very complimentary of the experience as a whole! Not one single complaint.
It was a great experience. Ive never been there before as Im not from Akron. We had a great time.
Very fun space for kids to learn through play with a variety of exhibits. Kids age 2 - 8 would probably have the most fun here. The space is loud though, so be aware of the sensory room to give ears a break.
We took my grandson. He had so much fun.
This place was ok but it is for younger kids my 7 year old eas not to impressed. But smaller kids was ..
This is a wonderful place to take kids. There is so much to do. It develops a lot of skills. I would highly recommend it anytime. It keep changing and there is a big update/extension coming soon! So excited!!
My kid loves coming and playing here. Many activities for kids and age groups.
Very nice place, currently expanding and some renovations being done, but they are open. Wonderful staff, very helpful and polite. Would definitely recommend.
Such a fun place for my kids to play! They always have the best time!
Perfect for all ages from crawling to elementary age. Weve been here a lot of times with our 3 & 7 year old and theres plenty to keep them occupied for hours. Semi private nursing/diaper change area. Restrooms are outside the museum (down the hall)
Very nice! We took our 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter and she loved it.
Its our first time going since before covid and it was honestly so dirty. The floors are black, the carpet is stained, the majority of the toys were really yucky and marked up. Especially the play food, the apples were black. The sensory grains were in every area. I really had an internal struggle to let me little ones crawl and play. I wouldnt return without major improvements.
Great place to take the kids on a rainy day!! They spent 3 hours here today playing ❤
I drove an hour away parked In their parking garage with four kids, tried to use the elevator with their parking garage, the elevator didn’t work. I had called them to figure out how to get to the museum only to be told that the museum is closing at 1 due to some kind of function. Wasted an hour of travel time and gas money and four disappointed kids. I also called that morning to verify their hours and the worker verified they close at 5! Very very unprofessional and very inconvenient. Don’t know where how to entertain for disappointed kids. They weren’t even apologetic. Don’t waste your tine coming here. Go to the Cleveland museum. Which is what I should’ve did.
Took my children for a birthday trip. Well worth the over hour drive. We will be back soon!
An awesome place to bring your child and experience all the excitement and fun. Great memories were made here with my daughter and is always something she remembers.
I recommend going here if you like absolute Chaos. It’s like paying 15$ to drop your kid off at a HUGE daycare. There is nothing museum like to this space. Maybe that’s how they get funding or something. It’s just one big room with kids activity’s and kids Going insane everywhere and making a huge mess and nobody picking it up.Went for a cool educational museum experience and left confused with a headache.
Super small space with limited activities for children. It was busy when we went and there was not enough space for more than a few kids in each station. Toys were broken, worn and dirty and what ones weren’t in poor condition were being hoarded by parents of other kids. Many kids were running around unsupervised and destroying the place. Many items were in completely different areas than they belonged as well. There was only one employee there at the time and she never left the front desk. My child typically has fun anywhere but even he was unimpressed.
Im giving this 4 stars because its small and honestly over pack its cute if you have nothing to do for your kids but also the location stinks Im not gonna lie.
For $5 per person I guess you shouldn’t expect too much. My son had a lot of fun playing but all the learning items were kinda a waste. I was a bit baffled when my son and I walked in to find all of the produce crates completely empty. When I looked around I noticed all of the produce was dumped into a single bin around a corner from the crates. When I saw this I thought 🤷🏻♂️ Oh well kids will be kids. Then while I was looking at it an employee with a pony and purple shoes walked up. He literally said to me “My break starts in 5 minutes, I guess it’s someone else’s problem.” Yikes!! I know, I know, we should all be more tolerant of ignorance just because it’s hard to find workers right now but come on. Who says something like that to a paying customer. I also posted a picture of the monster maker space which was completely destroyed and out of supplies. It looked this way for the entire 2 hours we were there playing. I didn’t take a picture but there was a circuit creating set for kids to use but it didn’t even have enough wire to make a circuit. The 2 stars instead of 1 is because there was enough stuff around that my son still had some fun playing. The truth is my 5 year old finds a way to have fun every where he goes.
Large warehouse,-like space divided into discovery/play spaces. Several are lots of fun, like the air tube my granddaughter enjoyed shooting colored cloth into the air. At $10 per adult plus $10 for parking, it gets expensive for two parents. But its a good place for a couple hours of fun on a rainy or snowy day.
This is a great spot to take the kids for a few hours. There are a number of play stations, and it kept our boys busy for several hours.
My daughter had her 6th birthday party there this past Saturday. Ms. Susan was such a sweet and nice host. She went above and beyond for us to make sure everything went smooth. The museum has so much for kids to do for hours of fun. The party room looks right into the museum so adults can watch their children without actually going in the museum. Overall its a great place to take your kids on any given day and a wonderful place for parties. Thanks again
In the pandemic world I think we are all looking for a place for our kids to play. I think the Akron Childrens Museum provides a great safe alternative. When your kids need some new toys to play with or you want to host a play date without hours of cleaning this is a great place. Awesome creative play opportunities, fun make believe, and just generally getting out from behind a screen. Try it out. They also do great birthdays. Its a fully masked facility right now.
What a fun place for kiddos! The different stations/play areas are each fun and interactive in their own way. Lots of hands-on play learning. Parking is easily accessible and the garage is right over the building. It is also next to Lock 3 which makes for a great day trip. The staff keeps the toys and climbers clean. Highly recommend!
Didnt take a ton of pics because my daughter (14 monthswas constantly on the move! They have packed so much into such a small footprint! My 2-yr old nephew loved flying the fabric through tubes, connecting the batteries to a light and knocking over my building with the earthquake simulator. We got a membership when we arrived and itll pay for itself after just a few visits. Definitely looking forward to this during the winter!Parking was free which is an added bonus. We parked in the deck and they gave us the voucher to cover the cost.
Lovely space for kids to safely explore some sensory play, build and dress up. I would say its suitable for younger children (possibly 8 years and under). The entrance fee was very reasonable and parking was right there.
Akron Childrens Museum has hands-on, interactive exhibits to engage kids and encourage learning.
My four year old son loved this place. The admission price was very reasonable. He spent a lot of time building huge structures with their large Lego blocks. All activities are contained in one small room, so you wont be walking long distances all day to get from one thing to the next.
My 4 and 2 year old kids enjoyed their visit. This place is geared towards kids their age which is nice. Parking was a disaster though. I had to circle the block multiple times until I finally found where to enter the parking garage. Also, why does it cost parents $5 to get in too? Its not like there is an activities for us.
Great place to spend an afternoon. Plenty of activities to keep your kid busy! I like the light board. :)
So many activities for children! My children, even my 11 year old, never get bored and are never ready to leave!
Great for the younger children. My four year old granddaughter loved it. My seven year old granddaughter got bored pretty quickly.
Very cool place for the kids. Both of my kids love coming to this place. I have being here twice this year and both times my kids want to come back.
Great times! Great staff! Kids enjoyed every moment of it. Even my 12 year old found something to do there!
My grandson loves many of the play areas - including the big building blocks, water table, dress up & grocery store. I love the craft area & earthquake table! So many ways to learn & its not a big place so you dont get lost in it! I look forward to seeing it grow. The two downsides to our visit were the parking (because downtown is under constructionand the woman who checked us in. No eye contact at all & no help with our wristbands (not so easy to put your own bracelet on when the 4 year old has ants in his pants & wants to play!!). That wasnt the first impression I expected. Other than that, good experience.
Fun place for kids... Teens even found things to stay busy while the littles played
The staff is very friendly and attentive. The prices are very affordable, especially if you buy the year pass and use it frequently. I have taken my son to several other play and learn places and this one is, by a far margin, better. There is plenty to do to keep the little ones active and engaged. I was impressed with how clean everything seemed. Good hygiene at a place like this is paramount, and they have nailed it! As an added bonus, the other parents are friendly and respectful for the most part.
Awesome place my child has so much fun here and its always busy
This place is great for the little ones. There are a number of different hands on exhibits to explore. The jumbo blocks tend to be a fan favorite. You can expect to spend a. Couple hours here. It is big enough to hold a crowd but, small enough not to be overwhelming. I take my children here often. You can purchase different membership levels at a reasonable price.
Price was great, staff was wonderful and the kids had a blast with all of the exhibits!
Wonderful place to take the kids. So many areas for them to explore and so much to do!
Lots of fun activities for all age kids. My grandson enjoyed putting on wings and an eagle mask and hanging out in a giant nest. Then he found the room of gigantic Lego blocks and helped to build a house big enough for 3 kids to go inside.
Excellent place for kids of all ages. Inexpensive and so many activities.
This place keeps kids of all ages busy for hours and the staff is very kind and helpful
Tons of fun with my 2 year old. Its not expensive like other places so I dont feel bad if we only get a few hours in before nap time. Such a great location too! The staff was super friendly and its cleaner than my own house. Such a good option for cold or rainy days
We visited for the first time today and everyone has a blast. My 8 year old had just as much fun as the toddlers. The museum is very clean and has something for kids with all interests to do. Great hands on play.
We really enjoyed our time at the Childrens Museum. Our three-year-old had a blast, and there were a lot of points where you could really tell he was learning through playing and making some new discoveries. The size of the facility is a little small, but they really do a good job of providing a lot of variety of activities in the limited space. For the very reasonable price, this was great. Well definitely be back again. Nothing better than tricking your kids into learning stuff by letting them have fun.
