Surely a hidden treasure and there are tons of such achaeological marvels in small villages of gujarat still in ruins. Must visit if you live in Mehsana or nearby areas. If you are lucky you will find an 84 year old guide who happily explains all details of shakti kunj and some old facts about Akhaj.

Historical stepwell at Akhaj, Mahesana known as Shakti Kund with beautiful idols like lord Ganesha and Shiva Parvati and Shesh Nag Birajman Lord Shri Vishnu, carving of Samudra Manthan, Varah Avatar and Event Of Hiranya Kashyap Vadh, Matshya Avtar, Buddha Avtar, Kalki Avtar, and Ganesha with different weapons There are more carvings of different deities due to this fact this step well is called as Shakti Kund, 5 Levels and square in shape and steps at corners and center also. There is well in center. Its carved from stones on step by step. Its Built in early sholanki period. Its fun for kids to see the different images and name it. It inculcate childs interests in our cultural heritage.

Some very unique statues are here. Very much remote monument, almost unknown but have some unique figure or carving of lord Ganesha and some others. Any archaeology lover must visit it. And if you like please give marks to my review.

A chalukyan era square stepwell on their trade route to Ahmedabad from Patan was devices with a temple and kirti toran which are missing now. Nice place hidden away from main road. Good for history enthusiasts only one restored step well is remaining at this place with beautiful panels. Dashavtar, matrikas, ashata Ganesha, bhairava, dikpalakas, Durga, shitala Mata and others are shown in panel. People still believe that the water in this kind has Devine powers which heals them. Usually devoid of water... But at the end of monsoons there may be ample water in there.
