Akbar Darbar in Auckland
Description
Privilege
Chicken pretty good but nan bread was really dry. Service not so good..
So far I have tried egg biriani Tandoori chicken and the prawn biriani all have been excellent. The lady at cbd restaurant is lovely. Ill be back tonite if you are still open at 10pm?
MoreAuthentic biryani. The other places in sandigram is useless infront of Akbar darbaar .
MoreI don’t stay in Auckland anymore; however, would highly recommend having Biryani.I would certainly say, It’s better than the Paradise Biryani
MoreBest biryani in Auckland CBD, most authentic biryani I have had outside of India!
MoreThe best thing to try here is chicken Tandoori legs, Smoked chicken and Pepper chicken.U can try other food too, I can assure you it is tasty. The staff especially Sandeepji is very friendly and will prepare you a dish accordingly to your choice. Kudos to her service.
MoreBest Biriyani in town, esp the Lamb. Current favorite is the Chicken Mughlaiits sooo good
MoreAmazing foodEspecially chicken tandoori and paper chickenThese two dishes are amazingAnd service is also top notchEspecially with Sandeep !Great customer friendly server
MoreRecently ordered haleem and its the worst i ever had in my life
A great indian food with authentic indian taste. You try it once, definitely would go back again thats what I believe. Great staff, great service.
MoreHeard a lot about them.Tried it outThe worst biryani and chiili chicken everThe chilli chicken was sooooo oily with heaps of food colour and just tasteless and the biryani was yuck !30$ and waste of food and timeWon’t recommend to people and won’t come there again
MoreI always order lamb briyani and yesterday from uber i got tandoori chicken and chili chicken. Both the chicken are not fresh at all, some pieces have alrdy gone bad. The chicken pieces are dark color and tastes awful. It has happened one time before but i ordered again anyway. I regret it.
MoreOne of the best places, if not the best to have an authentic dum biryani in Auckland.
MoreExcellent Biriyani and the Tandoori Chicken was outstanding!!!Will visit again.Clean and nice place.Worth a visit Food Folks 😋.
MoreI ordered take away pepper chicken. It was The worst food that i ever had in my entire life. I am not gonna go there again, ever. I choose to sleep empty stomach rather than having this one.
MoreIt’s the worst food I have ever tasted in my life, and the most hopeless food in town. I wouldn’t even recommend it for anyone to taste, only those people that put good reviews who have no idea about what Indian food tastes like. I ordered egg biryani which tastes not even close to the level of the egg fried rice my kids make at home, and Madras chicken tastes like there is just plain boiled tomato curry chicken in it.
MoreThe quality of food was pathetic. Lamb fry and vegetarian manchuria that I ordered did not taste fresh at all. Not keen on revisiting.
MoreAmazing Biryani joint. Chefs Abdul and Sandeep belt out the best Biryani in Supercity. The lamb in actuality melts in the mouth and the chicken (Biryani and tandooriare so juicy and flavourful- it’s heavenly.Highly, Highly recommended for any foodie.
MoreI never leave reviews like this but in this case I have to do at least the owners will understand what is happening in his store. We are paying and ordering food so at least please show us some respect from the front house staff. Your food might be good but Pathetic customer service from the front house staff .
MoreSalesperson found more important to talk on her phone instead paying attention to the customers. She need a lot of training in hospitality. Worst experience. Dont waste your money and time here.ZERO STARS.
MoreBiryani was really nice and so was the tandoori leg. Special mention for Sandeep kaur who was doing a commendable job handling the busy place all by herself.
MoreWent and got a Non Veg platter which was decent and Indian Spicy chicken biriyani... The biriyani was inedible, it tasted like the chef dropped his spice bottle into the pot... We called the shop back and told them about the biriyani... They were super rude and claimed their chef could never make a mistake... Well thats one biriyani down the drain...The guy that served us was really nice though so two starts for that
MoreOne of the worst Indian Restaurants in Auckland. Where you get frozen Hyderabadi biryani heated in the microwave and service is useless too. Will never put my foot in there again in my life.
MoreAmazing briyani. Genuinely the best briyani Ive had in Auckland. Ive been going there for almost 3 years now, never found a better briyani than this.
MoreGot the family pack chicken biryani for dinner and next day it smelled off even though I left it overnight in the fridge. I am one of the regular customer but wont go back any more! I reckon they gave me days old meat.
MoreOrdered a kilo and half of mutton briyani (catering). Good food, excellent taste, everyone one at the party was raving of the food. Highly recommended.
MoreOrdered lamb biriyani, had to thow it out, because it is not fresh, lamb pieces looks spoiled, no flavour, or taste. Felt almost like eating microwaved left over food. So didnt take the risk and stopped eating. And overpriced according to the standards. Only positive, The guy in the counter was nice. Place looks unhygienic. Was just passing bye and went inside, because of crowd.
MoreLove the food but had to return without dining in since we were informed that we cant dine in after 10:30pm although its open till midnight. In google it never had such instructions so was disappointed after travelling for half an hour just for this. Worker wasnt flexible either. :/
MoreVery tasty food. Only negative would be often we find the rice not cooked perfectly for the biriyani.
MoreAll time favourite- best biryani in New Zealand- easy fast & friendly service. Friendly staff. Highly recommend for biryani. Tried more than 20 times but never disappointed. Thanks
MoreFantastic service, delicious well cooked biryanis, and they also have a full menu of both vegetarian dishes, and all meat options. Will happily go back, and will highly recommend.
MoreIf you ever wish to eat authentic hyderabadi dum biryani in whole new Zealand this is the place to go. Very good staff and amazing customer service.i will surely visit again to try Mughalai curry dishes.
MoreBest biryani i can say in this town. I have tried tandoori and smokes chicken with my friend. Staff service was excellent. They have very cooperativestaff with well greeting at entrance to restaurant.Biryani was so tasty with all authentic biryani taste. Chicken curry was also delicious and garlic naan i had was awesome. They have very good option for snacks as tandoori chicken.
MoreThis is a whole mess. They say fried fish and this is their fried fish. Charged $25 by Uber and ruined my night. Pepper chicken was also a big flop. Would have ordered from Raviz instead. Dont go to this restaurant please
MoreGood place for dum biriyani. The biriyani is not as spicy as the typical Indian dum biriyani. The chicken is not cooked with the rice (and added laterand hence the flavor was missing. Would have been great if they mixed the masala/Chicken well before serving. However, it is indeed worth for$15 considering the portion/size served.
MoreVery very worst customer service.. the girl at the counter was so rude ... didn’t respond properly and didn’t bother to take orders... also she took the order after a very long time , then didn’t say anything ... a guy came after and then asked for order again.... she was over the personal call for a long time and chit chatting with guys, laughing but didn’t do any customer service and her attitude is so rude.. also the food is not fresh and it got spoiled already.. had very worst experience. Also they didn’t place tissues, water ......
MoreGot charged triple for ordering biryaani by upgrading from single to family. Staff confirmed the price but later found out they made a mistake in transaction. No refund given Staff should know their customers orders and the price they need to deduct.
MoreThought Id give a new place a try for lunch, and I probably should have gotten the hint when I walked inside and 1nobody was there behind the counter or waiting, 2there was no curry, rice, or food of any kind in the serving tray warmers ready to go, 3 I literally started to wonder if they were actually closed, and 4there was a big bowl of UNCOVERED chicken pieces in the soft drinks fridge where customers reach in to get drinks and knock who knows what debris or dust or germs in general down onto the open meat, not to mention whether or not that meat stays at a safe temp in a drinks fridge that may be often open and closed!? So, still deciding Im here, Ill try it, I asked what they might have ready and it was only chicken korma or pepper chicken, everything else they said would take like 15+ minutes (for a takeaway shop?). I swear all I heard was a microwave in the back being used... I got the lunch combo which is a great priced $15 deal for any curry + white rice + regular naan + can of coke, but the rest of the experience couldnt save the disconcerting health and other worries. The naan was really old and most of the sides were hard like its been reheated too many times. Looks like another recent reviewer had the exact same experience, so I guess Im not alone... I hate to give any place a 1, but those first 4 points are exactly what needs to be fixed to be approachable and worry free. Sorry.
MoreBest biryani in Auckland. Ive been going here for the past 3 months and I have always been satisfied with the food here. The restaurant is just a simple place, reminds you of the small local eateries in Asian cities. Owner and staff are professional and good. Me and my girlfriend are still going to eat here regularly given the chance, since they are that good.
MoreVery nice vegetables biryani and excellent service 👍🙂
Decide to give this place a go. I shouldve known what was to come by the state of all the rubbish out the front of the shop. The shop was empty and there was no smell of food being cooked (I was there at 6pm). The curry was definitely not fresh and there was very little flavour with a very sloppy consistency. The naan was microwaved and soggy. Definitely not going back ever again. I ordered the Korma and time will tell what the actual end result will be for me....
MoreI bought takeaways yesterday afternoon after reading and listening to all the good reviews. However to my dismay the service was unbelievable. Food cooked already from God knows when was reheated in the microwave and packed. The lamb Rogan Josh didnt even look like what a Rogan Josh should be! I was utterly underwhelmed and doubt I will ever step foot in this place again! When you spend money you want your monies worth, not something taken out of the fridge and reheated!
MoreI ordered the fish briyani and it was simply awesome. Though it costs $20 and I waited 20 minutes for it, it was worth it!
MoreThe food is so good and feels authentic Hyderabad biryani ( its only food I have usually tried over there). The 2 stars are for the delicious food. Apart from the food, whole place is a disaster. The place is non- hygienic and customer service is the worst I have seen in New Zealand. I would recommend to get takeaways from there if you are keen to have biryani so that you dont need to face the awful behaviour of the staff. The place doesnt have lot of seats and today when I had food, some new customers came and the place was full. As I was dining alone, he asked me to leave if I had finished. And I felt before I finished my food after hearing that. I felt so embarrassed and awkward. This type of attitude is not acceptable even if they serve good food. Customer need not to be regarded as king but definitely needs to show them some respect. The whole customer service seems awful and place has a disturbing music or sound from speaker. Definitely not a place where you can enjoy dining out.Cheers
MoreI was a bit apprehensive after reading some of the recent reviews but decided to give this longstanding restaurant a shot (established 1989and I’m so pleased I did! The food was absolutely delicious, servings are generous and the service was great. I had the chicken red curry and wok fried vegetables and both dishes were very flavorsome with great amount of texture, crunch and the perfect amount of heat. Yum!
MoreUnderwhelming look from outside, amazing food within. Recommend!
Expected to be atleast 3 star but not worth for a single star for biriyani. Requested double masala chicken family pack and mutton family pack and got the worst tasted biriyani without any flavour of masala.
MoreGood place to eat Indian food especially Biryani !! You can get a take away also. Very close to the Sky Tower. I did not see a dedicated parking here. Good for a quick bite or a take away for Indian food
MoreToday we had a delivered order to our flat in the CBD. The meal was very cold, even some of the chicken pieces were almost frozen. It seems that they have had the chicken in the fridge and they just reheated it rather than cooking fresh one. We have been recurring customers for many years. Since we thought we are valued customers we had decided to call them and give our feedback honestly. As this is the only time we had encountered this situation, we were expecting ears to hear us openly. Suprisingly and with disappointment the reaction of the call taker was a shook. He denied all our claim and it sounded like we were lying. He did not even let me talk and was interrupting me rudely. He was not prepared to listen but only justifying with some even more shoocking reasons (e.g. We put the chicken in a macrawve and because we wanted the food ready as soon as possible). Since the business did not want to listen to our complaint and feedback over the phone we had decided to place it here so people can see what kind of customer service they should expect. Shame on you Akbar Durban loosing customers this way. I recommend that you educate your staff on customer relations. Maintaining customers is the core of every business.
MoreI Bought a Vegetable Biryani cost $13 at 10:30PM . I got a curry with the Biryani and when I open led it spoiled due to being out of refrigeration.I have caller store and they want me to come and collect another one on my expenses.. Worst restaurant never buy food from here. I have already complaint to MPI food compliance.
