Akbar Is a super curry house where the food and the service is just top class. The decor is smart, clean and tidy and your orders come out quick and piping hot.

Really disappointed in my recent visit and the food. These guys have been in business for years but its absolutely freeezing in there why cant they turn the heating up. Really put me off my food, this is my usual go to for a good curry but over the last few months it just dosent seem right. I have to say Im disappointed. The food came out luke warm I wouldnt even mind but there was only 8 other tables in there. The waiter told me to be careful as it was very hot, yes the dish it came in was hot but not the curry. The curry was definitely not amazing like it used to be something just tasted off. I really wanted to say something this time but you have about 6 waiters stood around near the front desk talking really loud just made me feel uncomfortable. My review is not going to make a difference but it has to be said.

Nice restaurant, food was good, but it was a bit spicy more than I asked for, the staff was friendly, for two people we paid 34£ recommend

Good food. Some of the waiters could improve service (not all). Forgetful and all smiley until you dont pay a tip then appear rude and stroppy. Notice this most times now. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth and makes me want to try other more appreciative places.

Been going to Bradford for the last 20 years but the last 3 times we have been it has not been at its best from poor quality food to wrong orders to waiters banging in to us nearly every time they pass. So Ive had to take the 5 stars off them and give a 2 star

Service was fast and friendly. Food was nice and tasty. Seating was a little cramped. Also far too warm, needs aircon.

I enjoyed the starters more than the main course, but thats on me for ordering something I was unfamiliar with.The service was impeccable 👌.

So I was here few days ago, and I must say you cant beat the charsi meat karahi.Also 5/5 for the waiter(Yasin).

The food is nice, desi style, however the place seems a bit shabby, cutlery were not clean and the waiters really need to improve on customer service.

This is the best My Lohore even if it is takeaway! Food was the best I’ve had in any of the branches! The manager even served the food on plates as I’d came a long way and the restaurant was over a two hour wait! Highly recommended!

Weve been coming here for years, but due to COVID etc. Its been a while.It was good, quite busy but plenty of staff. Our waiter couldnt have been more helpful or polite.My masala fish was excellent but the accompanying salad was just a bit of sad lettuce, tomato and a tiny bit of cucumber, no dressing or seasoning. I remember them being better before.Everyone agreed the mains were more oily than before, although they still tasted ok.As I said we used to be regulars, but I think there are better placed locally now.

Visited today between 7.30pm until 9pm with family, including little kids.. Best experience in a restaurant ever.. smiling and attentative Khan and Kashif made our day, even the kids were full of praise. The service, food, and prices everything excellent. Thank you so much.

We have been here twice. Food is amazing. But waitresses are rude if we refuse to pay the tip. I would give 5 stars for the delicious food.

I would give a zero star if possible, the service I received was as if the staff were doing me and my party a favour. We were paying customers just like others but we were ignored. We got water after an hour. Service is so slow. When I complained apologies were given but others were being served but we were still ignored. Needless to say I had a touch of food poisoning the following day and it made me think, that I complained and they put something in my food. I would not go again and definitely not recommend this restaurant to others.

Nice but we werent wowed by the starters. We got lamb chops and chapli kebab. Have had better. The curry was very nice though and drinks and dessert were also good.

Good food and good service.However, quite disappointing that starters are no longer being served on the hot plate with sizzling onions. But instead, theyre served on a plain white plate in a small puddle of grease.Curry undeniably nice as always though.

The wife and I visited here for an impromptu curry after getting rid of the kids for a few hours. Weve been more times than I can count and its been great every time (including twice on Christmas Day).My wife had the usual Chicken Tikka Makhani and I usually have the Garlic Chicken Chilli Balti, but decided to have a change. I spoke with the very friendly waiter and let him know I wanted something authentic and with some heat. He recommended the Karahi Chicken. We had a family garlic naan and chips as sundries.The Karahi Chicken was beautiful and it came Asian style. Just the right heat and great flavours.The food here is always consistently good and service never been an issue.Will be back again (and again and again).

Starters were lovely, mains mediocre. Mocktails were awful, my glass and plate was dirty which was sent back. The restaurant had a really weird smell, place needs sprucing up

Lived in Bradford and visited the city for years yet always had different favourite restaurants but after feeling disappointed about them went to Akbars, which has been around for decades.Easy to find, car park opposite and plenty of seating but fills fast.The service was incredible and helpful, very typical genuine Yorkshire manners.Our food was incredible, it was so tasty, everything tasted good and we were satisfied even the next morning.Would highly recommend

Food here was amazing. Huge nan was lovely. Curry is amazing. Service was fantastic. We had the specials and they were tasty and meaty. Drinks are reasonable priced, so is the food. Busy spot. Will definitely come again.

The ambience, service and food were all good. The portion were decent keeping in mind the hike in prices.The starter of lamb chops, chicken wings, seekh kebab and masala fish were all tasty and flavoursome. Keep in mind there is no mixed grill however you can ask them to serve the starter you choose in hotplate.The main was shinwari karahi, chicken biryani and charsi chicken. As I have eaten original of these dishes so to me they were ok. However if you have not had one before then they are really good.The service was excellent and will recommend anyone to go to akbar as it is one of the best authentic Pakistani cuisine.

Akbar restaurant has to be my favourite restaurant in Bradford. It has authentic Pakistani cuisine. The taste and quality of food is the best in town. It is an extremely popular restaurant always very busy. Decor and seating could be improved for a more comfortable and enjoyable dinning experience. Staff helpful and friendly.

Its OK....I am looking at 7 key areas (for me anyway!). Hope this helps you when reading the review -1. Welcome - we had made a group dinner reservation this evening and arrived on time. The table was not ready and we had to wait a few minutes which was fine. Note - It is worth booking a table especially on a Saturday evening as the restaurant is very busy. Staff were OK and not too welcoming or friendly.2. Ambience - busy with family groups and couples. (When you walk in see if you can be seated on the left side, I think its nicer.It is nice that they have windows and natural light coming in. Cant really hear the background music if you like background music.3. Staff knowledge - helpful and accommodating. We requested a curry that was not on the menu and they were happy to make it. The waiter was quite pushy with promoting the special - Shinwari Ghost (lambbut could not really explain what the dish actually was.4. Food taste - starters were nice - chicken wings, sheekh kebabs were well cooked, not too dry and had balanced flavours. Chicken tikka was very good but the lamb chops were ok, not amazing. Overall the flavours and "spice" levels were good. Mains were OK.... The Balti Tarka Dhal was quite dry and just made of split chickpeas (chana dal). Other restaurants normally mix in other lentils and make this type of dhal a bit more sauce. We tried the special as the Waiter kept pushing it and it was underwhelming to be honest more like a simple lamb stir fry with little flavour and not really a curry.5. Service - helpful but a bit functional. Waiter could not understand spoken English that well so my Wife spoke to him in Hindi. Main dishes were served with no serving spoons.6. Wait times for food & drinks - good as the service was speedy even though they were busy.7. Value for money - similar prices to London e.g. £4.50 for a small bottle of Cobra and £13 for what was meant to be a half portion of the "special". So not great but no service charge was applied as well.

Used to be a beautiful place but service is absolutely terribleWhen we were eating the starters the staff were taking the (plasticplates (felt I was back at schoolas soon as you had finished, even if that meant leaning across others on the table who were eating.They were bringing out the mains despite my grandma still eating her starter. They were trying to take the plate even though she had only had eaten one of her lamb chops and still had the knife and fork in hand.When serving the food, staff couldnt tell us which curry was in their hand and began making it up (not even curries that we ordered). We had 5 members of staff all shouting random curries at the table, none of which agreed with each other what each curry was (there was only 6 of us at the tableit ended up with them taking SOME of the dishes back to the kitchen and 25 minutes later bringing some more out. By which point all the sides were cold. Nothing was done about this, even though we mentioned it.The price of a small bottle of beer was £5 and the EXACT SAME beer in a large bottle was £5 (shame we were given the small ones for that price)Myself and my partner had a starter, main and a beer each with a naan and they charged us £75. Extortionate!Such a shame as we always went for big birthdays and celebrations...

Friendly service and amazing food. Ordered a takeout so could take food home to open our fast with. Food was delicious and hit the spot. Food was delish as always. I would recommend the lamb chops and Lamb shank dish. It is spicy so if you can handle spice then this is not the place. But I love spice so was perfect for me.

Me and family go here on occasions and the food is always really nice. The staff are friendly and the owner is always recommending that we try his newest dish. Honestly if you have even just a decent spice tolerance then its great for you.

Love this place. Its the second time I am coming ans this place never fails on impressing us.I went to eat iftari with my daughter and had to wait outside as the tables were full. But the lovely staff managed to make space for us before iftari time and the food came of time. The staff went above and beyond our expectations. Hands off 🙌 to Akhbars manager, who made sure we had our food on time and took take of my daughters food preferences, as she is a very fussy eater.I was expecting to have a delay on our meals due to how busy was the place, but surprisingly everything came on time.Will definitely come back on eid, but this time I will make sure to book the table ahead of time.This place had the best Piña Colada I have ever had, and the chicken nimbali was to die for. Chicken chaska was also a lovely addition to the menu, it tasted exactly like homemade Spicy curry. Definitely worth the wait.Thanks again for all the staff and manager of Akhbars for going above and beyond, and making our iftari a very special one

Beautiful food, we drove 40 mins for a birthday meal with family and heard great things from family members that had been before. Definitely lived up to that as it was gorgeous. Portions are huge, food is cooked to perfection, piping hot. Would recommend to anyone.

We havent been to Akbars for a long time but decided to go for our anniversary. Service from start to finish was exceptional. Sadly, we didnt take his name but it was a young man from Pakistan who started recently. Hubby really liked his service, so he wanted to tip him extra. He recommended the Chicken Charsi dish and we really enjoyed it. For starters we had the fish pakoras and chicken wings which we enjoyed alot. For mains we had biryani chciken charsi and naan which we also really enjoyed. We will visit again 😁

Food was amazing but service was bad. They forgot the drinks at the start, one of my friends starters and my main. We had to ask 3 times for the dessert menu.

If you want fancy presentation of food dont go here but if you want delicious tasting food definitely go to Akbars in Bradford. Couldnt find any faults in the food or service. Best meal me and my family have had in ages. Definitely go again soon

Some good quality time spent with my other half to enjoy our 5th year wedding anniversary 💕 loved the atmosphere, the hospitality, the staff was good mannered and spoke well. The waiter that was serving us was brilliantly spoken definitely 5 stars to him too! Food was amazing! Would deffo go again snd reccomend anyone who has not tried it.Plus it gave us time to eat in peace without our kids lol. My photos are saved elsewhere which at rhe moment and somehow i cant post them on here.

The best of the best came here like 10 years ago and was blown away by the flavour of the curry..Id go as far as call myself a tough critic and a lover of the South Asian dish. So today a few years later I thought seeing as Im up north lets try it again maybe that time it was a fluke...but no seriously it is the best tasting curry at the best price flavoursome with a good portion (not stingywhich is a must its seriously a make or break for foodies so giving that bit extra goes long way plus with salad given as well for the extra lil touch. They do deserve the title king of curry. Just a quick bit of advice as well The Birmingham one is good but not on the level of the Bradford one 👍

I always go to Akbars and lastnight was no different for our valentines meal.Normally i love the food, atmosphere and customer service is superb. Lastnight we were waiting for our table, as we waited we saw a guy talking crossly to a waiter not so far from us. After he finished he took us to our table, just as he was about to leave, I asked the guy if would lite our candle which he did but they normally would without being asked. I thought it was probably cos he was stressed.when we were ready to order there was no one to take our order, no one was dedicated to us, normally after being seated someone comes to the table introduces themselves and takes care of your order and you until you leave. I asked the waiter serving people next to us if could take our order, he asked where is ur table guy i said dont know.Another guy came took our order and left.Our drinks were served few min later.5min later our starters was received but no chips and No tray with mix of dips/ sauces i asked another guy where are chips was and dips he said ill go find out. Didnt return i asked another guy walking past and he did. Starter wasnt as good as usually is. Food seemed well done on outside a little rare on inside.After this we asked another guy walking past if could order our desert and he did i also told him about another couple i could see getting really frustrated because there was no one to take there order too. This waiter asked another guy to do so which he did. The same guy who showed us to our table was saying quickly clear the tables away and turn the lights on he seemed to want to finish quickly. Desert was really nice. I was given a wet wipe and my hubby asked what time they were closing we were told 12.15 am and was only going onto 11pmI have been on valentines day many times here and has been perfect although i have never been as late as getting here for 10pm.I dont know if the staff were too tired or overwhelmed by how busy they were, which didnt make the experience as good as it usually is.

I dont visit here as often as I should but if you want a nice curry then look no further! There is definitely something for everyone on the menu so recommend a visit for all! The staff are very warm welcoming and nothing is too much! Wasnt too sure on the desserts but the curry makes up for it!

Great atmosphere.Good portions.Very busy but it doesnt slow down service.Most importantly... the food is AMAZING!If youre arriving by car, use the car park directly across the road. Car park attendants are on hand during busy periods to ensure safe parking.
