Worth a visit if youre in town. Has a highly diversified collection of historical artefacts and natural history specimens, as well as a variety of ancient cultural pieces. The only downside is that many of the show rooms are not air-conditioned, so I wouldnt recommend visiting if its too hot.

Probably my favourite place to visit in the city of Oran 😍😍😍 i love the history and their natural collection. It opens at 9.AM Dont visit on the weekends and national holidays (its closed)

The Ahmed Zabana Museum is one of the most important museums in Oran and Algeria. It was named in honor of the martyr Ahmed Zabana, and was established in 1935 by the Geography and Archeology Foundation at the Palace of Fine Arts.The museum contains many artifacts, divided into three sections. The museum has antique coins, Roman and African artifacts, and natural history. Two gorgeous Roman mosaic pieces have been added.Enjoy a historical tour inside the museum and see lanterns, vases, ornaments and coins from the Punic collection. The museum provides a set of organized workshops to spread the culture of visiting museums as well as to support tourism in the city.

يعد متحف أحمد زبانة واحد من أهم متاحف وهران والجزائر، وتم تسميته لتخليد اسم الشهيد أحمد زبانة، وتم إنشاؤه في 1935 من قبل مؤسسة الجغرافيا والآثار في قصر الفنون الجميلة.المتحف يحتوي على عديد من القطع الاثرية، مقسمة الي ثلاث اقسام. يوجد بالمتحف عملات أثرية وآثار رومانية وافريقية وتاريخ طبيعي. تم إضافة قطعتين فسيفساء رومانية رائعتين.استمتع بجولة تاريخية داخل المتحف ومشاهدة فوانيس و فخريات و حلي و عملات من المجموعة البونيقية. يتيح المتحف مجموعة من الورش المنظمة لنشر ثقافة زيارة المتاحف وكذلك لدعم السياحة في المدينة.

Could be a little cleaner. But the collection inside and the helpful staff compensate for that.

It contains landmarks and animals that lived in Algeria in the past 🤯, its worth a visit.To the first time visitors, take extra care of their belongings, especially phones, when leaving the museum , the route is overgrown with the fastest thieves in the world 🚀

متحف أحمد زبانة (سابقا Musée Demaeghtالواقع وسط مدينة وهران، أنشأته سنة 1885 مؤسسة علمية مشهورة آنذاك هي مؤسسة الجغرافيا والآثار لمقاطعة وهران (بالفرنسية: Société de géographie et d’archéologie de la province d’Oran)‏.فكرة إنشاء متحف في المدينة كانت للقائد Demaeght (المهتم بالآثار والنقوش)، والذي جمع في عام 1882 أشياء مختلفة مقسمة إلى ثلاثة أقسام : عملات (13 قطعة)، أثار رومانية وإفريقية (16 قطعة)، وتاريخ طبيعي، أضيفت إليها عند افتتاح المتحف قطعتي فسيفساء رومانية رائعتين لـ بورتوس ماغنوس نقلت من موقع "أرزيو القديمة" (بالفرنسية: "Vieil Arzew")‏ بلدية سان لوي (بطيوة حاليا: فسيفساء كبيرة من أربعة جداول، وصغير يمثل رحيل باخوس للهند. تم إضافة أقسام أخرى لاحقا، قسم لعصور ما قبل التاريخ والاثنوغرافيا وأقسام الرسم والنحت والرسوم والنقوش الأصلية.تجلت الحاجة لمبنى مناسب، فبني المقر الحالي الواقع ب19 شارع زبانة في عام 1933، وافتتح رسميا 11 نوفمبر 1935 في مبنى قصر الفنون الجميلة. حمل بداية تسمية « Musée Demaeght ». القصر يضم متحفا ومكتبة ومدرسة للفنون الجميلة. عند الاستقلال، بقي المتحف موكلا إلى مجلس الشعب البلدي لمدينة وهران حتى عام 1986. لينتقل تحت إشراف وزارة الثقافة، ويغير اسمه ليصبح اسم "المتحف الوطني أحمد زبانة" تكريما للشهيد أحمد زبانة المعروف.

Ahmed zabana National Museum is one of the best museums in the country,it is small but contains huge amounts of masterpieces and sculptures and paintings and stuffed animals and also aquatic animals....I loved it , I definitely recommend this place for u to visit as soon as possible

Un site qui devrait faire partie du planning des guides touristiques ...Accueil sympathique du personnel !Il existe aussi des tableaux et des statuettes à découvrir, malheureusement il est interdit de les prendre en photo, donc je vous propose sincèrement de faire un tour ;)

Orans museum is little-visited by foreigners, but it is one of the keys to understanding the city, although the collection doesn’t always live up to the grandeur of the building. A large 1st-floor room tells the local story of the battle for independence, most moving being the list of local people executed by the French between 1954 and 1962. There are also interesting exhibits of ancient sculptures, some good mosaics and terracotta portraits.The extensive, neglected natural history collection includes giant lobsters and squid and, in the basement among the stuffed animals, a shark, all caught in the bay. The paintings are more surprising, being a mix of works by 20th-century Algerian artists, French Orientalists including Eugene Fromentin, and some 18th-century studies of mythical subjects.

Quality art and very well displayed. Unlike most places in the world they did not allow photography, even without a flash. That was the only very disappointing thing. Otherwise highly recommended.

A bog standard provincial museum.Downside: acres of dusty glass cases containing miscellaneous bones, rocks and flakes of pottery, along with the same stuffed herons and pickled lizards as every other museum of its kind.Upside: moderately interesting French paintings of Oran (not good paintings, but tellingly orientalist); upstairs random ethnographic exhibits from former French colonies, and a small but well-formed collection of Algerian handicrafts (mostly Kabyle).
