Ahh Toots - Cake shop in Bristol, United Kingdom
Ahh Toots made us a beautiful and delicious cake for our wedding. Great & straight-forward process from start to finish - meeting to chat about some ideas and taste some flavours, all the way through to receiving the real thing on the day. Also some great options forDF / GF people, so we didnt have to leave anyone out. Thanks guys!
A delightful treat! We had an orange and cinnamon slice, and a beetroot and chocolate slice. The staff were friendly, and the cafe is decorated with lovely things. Would recommend.
Best afternoon tea ever! The cafe is small but beautiful and all the staff were so friendly and made it a really welcoming atmosphere. Amazing flavour combinations and everything we ate was delicious. Bottomless teas/coffees are included with afternoon tea, I recommend the melon iced tea if they have it when you go. The blackcurrant and bay jam served with the scones was so good and I was so happy I could buy a full sized jar to take home. The surprise hero of the afternoon tea was the little shot of tomato and aubergine soup served as an amuse bouche - this was the best soup I’ve ever tasted and I would return just to buy soup, let alone the cakes which were all a 10/10. Everything was impeccable start to finish. I will definitely be back for another afternoon tea!
Quite simply consistently the best coffee and cake experience I have had in over a decade. Cakes taste better than they look and they look amazing, the coffee is expertly made and the service is friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. What a little gem of a place!
Ahhtoots created three gorgeous and delicious cakes for our wedding and delivered them to our venue in Dorset. We chose an 8" Vegan Lemon Pistachio Fennel, 9" Orange, Rosemary, and Almond, and 10" Classic Victoria with Blackberry Bay Jam (my favourite! I want jars of this jam). The process of designing the cakes with them was a joy and they were happy to work with our florist to match the cake decor to our flowers. Thank you for everything!
We hired Ahh Toots to do our wedding cake - we had 3 separate cakes of different flavours which were all out of this world and we got so many comments on how delicious they were! The presentation was incredible - we didnt give them much instruction, we just told them about the flowers and the rest of our decor and let them get creative! They tied it all in beautifully. They were really flexible talking through options to suit our budget right from the beginning and were super reliable delivering the cakes to our venue.
Always the most yummy vegan cakes and the friendliest staff you’ll ever meet! The portion sizes are impressive- every time I think I can finish the whole slice but eventually I admit defeat and end up taking half the cake home with me. Definitely recommend!! (The decor is wonderful as well, it makes you feel all comfy and relaxed)
Had to edit this review. The cake was probably nice but the shop assistant handled it with her bare hands placing it ina box with a knife and steadying the cake with her other hand, she then proceeded to sprinkle the remaining crumbs on her fingers over the cake. Unhygienic in my opinion and she shouldve worn gloves, thats really when I shouldve left the shop. I mean you wouldnt accept food in a restaurant say if the staff picked the food up with ungloved hands and arranged it on your plate in front of you. This has put me off so I wont go there again. Thats a shame but there are plenty of other cake shops and theyve never touched my food with ungloved hands in front of me.
Lovely staff, cosy vintage atmosphere, fragrant tea and huge slices of cake!Good vegan options but many of these options also contain nutsWould recommend
Lovely cafe, the best bakery in Bristol city centre. Not easy to get a seat inside the cafe in weekend but try to take a coffee and cake to seat outside and enjoy the sunshine in summer. Luckily I seat in with gorgeous view. Don’t miss it when you visit Bristol.
Ahh Toots is the best bakery in Bristol. Not only is it a fab little cafe to pop in to, we love it so much we also asked them to do our wedding cakes. We had three cakes, because we couldnt pick just one, Victoria Sandwich, Banana and Salted Caramel, Lemon and Courgette and Chocolate Guiness. All of them were delicious, our guests raved about the cake for weeks afterwards, and not a scrap was left at the end of the day. Not to mention how beautiful they looked - pure works of art! We love Ahh Toots!
We got some cupcakes from Toots at my firm, Saffery Champness, to celebrate Pride. They looked absolutely stunning, tasted DELICIOUS and the team loved them. Brought us all a lot of joy! The team were great from start to finish to accommodate us too. Thanks toots!
Oh I love this little bakery! Coffee was great and the cakes are so yummy 😊 definitely recommend it! We had a slice of carrot and a croissant cakeIf you ever move to London give us a shout!!! Shoreditch is waiting for you 😄
Amazing little bakery and tea room! As a coeliac I struggle to find a good range of gluten free cakes, this bakery delivered! They offer atleast 4/5 gluten free cakes, I was spoilt for choice. The seating area is small but cosy, it was such a nice atmosphere and everyone who worked there were so nice and chatty.I chose the carrot and courgette cake and wow it was insane, could not tell it was GF.To my surprise they also offer afternoon tea that are gluten free as well(All cakes in pics are labelled glutenless)Highly recommend!!
Had a delicious birthday tea for my daughter yesterday. Staff friendly and helpful. Generous portions and amazing food. The only small issue was our party of 5 had to be seated at separate tables (3 and 2which detracted a bit. Wonderful for couples or groups of 4. The best vegan no-egg sandwich Ive had!
A cute little cafe right at the bottom of Christmas steps. They have great selection of cakes and a small number of seating area. I tried their doughnut - unfortunately was a little disappointed as the texture was tough and not as fluffy as I expected although the filling was delicious. The carrot and courgette cake was more of a mush as you bite into them rather than a moist cake which I didn’t particularly like. I would return though to try some of the other cakes.Update 12/4/22: visited again and tried their chocolate and beetroot cake - absolutely delicious. Perfect level of sweetness, cake was moist with great flavour. Upgraded to 4 stars.
Here’s is the best afternoon tea, most delicious cakes, wonderful staff all wrapped up in a incredible place
I regularly contrive a flimsy excuse to visit town centre with the sole purpose of making this my destination. Theres a Willy Wonka / Wizarding world vibe to the place that I cant get enough of. Its just magical. The baked goods are incredible and Im slowly making my way through everything. Its a labour of love.
Its very cute and worth a follow on their insta just to see what special goodies they are making. I tried the double choc cookie sandwich, which was nice and good quality, but you still bulk at the price tag. Would only ever go for a spoil yourself treat.
Too pricey for the amount of hot chocolate and the quality we received. The hot chocolate was quite small and watery. It was a rainy day and we couldnt even sit inside nor use the bathroom, what a pity because it seemed very cozy.
Really cozy little cake shop. The seating area is lovely and atmospheric. Theres a great selection of tea. I had the rose tea which was delicious. The cakes are beautiful and the staff were very friendly.
We rocked up to AhhToots in need of a strong coffee after another morning of Christmas shopping. We were welcomed in by the polite barista and directed towards a quirky room at the rear to sit down. This place is one of the most unique cafes we’ve visited in Bristol. Vintage books, crockery and photos adorn the shelves and walls, and the building itself is full of old charm and character. We can’t think of anywhere else quite like it which is a great quality in a city blessed with so many top notch independent eateries.AhhToots first opened in St Nicholas market in 2014 and made a name for itself with its incredible selection of sweet treats. While the location has changed (they made the move to their current location in 2020), the legendary cakes and pastries remain. We thought we’d try out a chocolate and salted caramel brownie - we did not regret this decision. It was soft, full of flavour and disappeared from our plate in record time. We also opted for a flat white which was nice and warming (extra points for the cool mug). We’d highly recommend a visit to AhhToots if you’re out and about in Bristol. It’s got an awesome vintage vibe and their incredible cakes will not disappoint! They also offer lunches and afternoon tea that we’re 100% going to go back and try.
Such a wonderful experience, the best afternoon tea I have ever had. Ahh Toots is wonderland for cake connoisseurs.
We got our wedding cake from Ahh Toot and it was everything we hoped for and imagined. The lovely ladies who run the cafe/bakery, made us feel warm and welcome as they gave us a cake consultation. We gave them a difficult brief, mainly because we didn’t know what we wanted. I feel though they captured ‘Autumnal Fireside Chic’ perfectly. The cake was so delicious. We had chocolate and Guinness. The best chocolate cake I’ve ever had. Imagine a gooey and soft chocolate fudge brownie but the experience is 10 times more intense. Not much left over after the wedding, which really speaks for itself.
Came here for our wedding cake consultation with Tam. She was very welcoming, friendly with a great sense of humour. She listened to what we would like for our wedding and came up with the best sounding cake and sweets table. It was really fun. She gave us a taster box to try and taste all the options...well we want them all because they were marvelous and tasted so good! What a great little place! Thanks Tam 😊
Came here for tea and cake it was absolutely delicious! The staff are amazing warm and kind. My partner had the chocolate stout cake and seriously it doesnt disappointed! I asked the lovely friendly guy on the bar to recommend me a cake that doesnt have cinnamon in and I got the red wine infused cake and oh my MARY its a winner!! The owner brought our dogs some water and made sure we were okay. Such a wonderful business with a family vibe here. You cant go wrong, lovely people great cakes beautiful surroundings and soft furnishings we felt like kings. Thank you guys 😌
We picked Ahh Toots for our wedding cake. Tam and the team were lovely-we had great fun doing a tasting, and they kindly delivered it to the venue the day which removed the stress. The final cake was a absolute stunner-I couldn’t stop looking at it on the day! The colours Toots picked were absolutely perfect. It was especially lovely to have a little bit of Bristol there with us in the Cotswolds. When the post wedding blues creep in I’ll be popping down to the cafe for some tea and cake, and a little reminisce.
Took my Mum to Ahh Toots with my Dad and boyfriend for afternoon tea for her birthday. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home. Great selection of bottomless hot drinks to go with the afternoon tea. The sandwich fillings were delicious and we loved the flavour combinations. The butternut squash and marmite sandwich was banging. A really excellent selection of cakes and sweet treats, with again some different but absolutely scrummy flavour combos. My Mum and Dad were very impressed and actually said they thought the food was better than when they had Afternoon Tea at The Ritz. Definitely recommend!
The best afternoon tea EVER! Everything is hand made and beautifully presented. I also love that you get unlimited drinks (tea, coffee and ice d drinks). The menu changes seasonally so we will definitely be returning time and time again.
Lovely afternoon tea with lots of variety, would definitely recommended. Didnt feel at all rushed even though they closed at 5pm.
We booked for afternoon tea as we always wanted to try ahh toots. We were given a lovely and cozy corner. The setting was charming and great ambiance. Staffs were very friendly and first rate, from food explanation to interaction. We opted for a gluten option since I have an intolerance. Very fresh and delicate food presentation. Rich and decadent ingredients, it was a great experience to rave for.The wife was gifted a cake which she loved the most, great gesture and many thanks. We shall be back very soon. Highly recommended!
Ah Toots made our wedding cake for us and we were so impressed with it. We met Tam for a consultation where we got to try lots of yummy cake and chat to her about what we wanted, she was super friendly and helpful. We went with orange and cinnamon and lemon drizzle and had so many comments about the cake from our guests and were so glad we went with Ah Toots. We cant wait to visit again in the future.
Popped in on a visit to Bristol and the cakes were amazing! I had the courgette and carrot cake which was incredibly moist and generously full of nuts and raisins. My husband had the chocolate truffle cake, which he declared was delicious. We ate at the outdoor seating and took two doughnuts to take away and eat later. Again, they were lovely, coated in a nice cinnamon sugar and very full with custard. We were very glad that we purchased from this business.
Thank you so much for all the beautiful cakes you have done for us in the last 12 months...my 60th Birthday cake...family birthday cakes...yummy cup cakes....& amazing chocolate Brownies delivered to us by post in lockdown 😊And then this weekend a truly scrumptious Baby Gender Reveal cake which brought so much excitement and joy to our family....thank you so much & thank you for keeping the secret so safely 😉😊👍
WOW! What a cake. Ordered a chocolate cake for my sisters birthday and it was just awesome. Not only did it look amazing and put a massive smile on her face, it also tasted fantastic. Not too sickly sweet and just the right amount of chocolate! It was delivered locally, by a friendly driver who called to ensure I was available to receive it. Great service, great little business, will definitely be doing this again.
I had been wanting to try Ahh Toots for sooooo long and I am SO glad I finally did.I’m sorry there are no pictures because we devoured all the cakes so quickly!I cannot recommend one cake over the other but the cakes and treats we got were:Tiramisu cakeOrange & Cinnamon cakeRocky roadBanana salted caramel sliceChocolate cookie sandwichDog biscuits.Even our dogs got a treat and they loved them! I highly recommend all of these! All cakes and treats were not too heavy, although they look it.For all that we bought it was so reasonably priced. Not expensive at all!Thank you Ahh Toots team! I think we’ve discovered our favourite cakery 😍
Made my sister a beautiful cake for her 30th. Looked amazing and tasted so delicious. The shop is also really lovely. We also picked up some sausage rolls which were the best I’ve ever tried and I bloody love sausage rolls.
Had the americano and salted caramel banana cake and it was truly out of this world! I love that they were open from early in the morning and the staff member was really lovely. When I asked the staff member for cake advice, she gave me lots of advice and have to say I will definitely be coming back for the other suggested cakes:)!! She also answered my questions about the coffee beans and loved the care and kindness given to pack the cakes as well. Would love to come back to have a relaxed time in the shop after pandemic is over in the future! Highly recommend :)
Having never bought a posh-cake before I can see why...IT WAS DELISH AND WAS DEVOURED SWIFTLY. Absolutely ridiculously tall, over the top and moorish - perfect for my girlfriends birthday. Toots have been around Bristol a while, and although we love the stall in St Nicks, the new adventure at Christmas Steps has certainly impressed us all! Swing by for a coffee if decadent triple-tiered-celebration cakes arent your thing, their slices on the counter are so moorish (Tiramisu layer cake - Vicky sponge, coconut thing - whatever its all so good). Some seating outside, gets busy at lunchtime/ tea-o-clock.
I ordered the banana salted caramel cupcakes to be delivered for my best friend who lives in Bristol. Amy was extremely professional, but most importantly the cupcakes were stunning and incredibly delicious. My friend said they were "hands down the best cupcakes Ive ever eaten in my life!". A definite must try! You wont be disappointed!
Tam made our wedding cake - 3 tiers, decorated with flowers and freshly baked just the day before. It was stunning to look at and even better to eat. All of our guests wanted more!We have enjoyed Tams cakes many times over the past 5 years and they have always delivered in every way.We wanted our cake to be perfect for us and @ahhtoots did not disappoint.
Really delicious cakes and coffee in a cute location at the bottom of the Christmas steps. You have to try the three tier cakes - to be honest this photo doesn’t do it justice. This was a banana, caramel and popcorn slice and it was so nice but don’t eat too late in the arvo or you won’t be able to eat your dinner! :)
So happy with the wonderful banana salted caramel cake I ordered for my husband’s birthday! The cake is delicious and the staff were really helpful and nice. Will recommend it to everyone!
Tam baked THE most amazing cake for my 30th birthday party this weekend! She was so creative and made something that perfectly reflected the pictures that I had sent, the venue that we were at and the party itself. Not only did it look incredible, it tasted fantastic and people were raving about it the whole night. Thank you so much Tam! I would definitely recommend :)
Beautiful cakes with vegan options that taste amazing! Portions are always generous and really great value.Coffee is in sustainable cups and is a favourite at the St Nicks night market! They of course accept card so there’s no excuse to not have a slice!
Ahh Toots recently did our wedding cake for us and we would definitely recommend them. The cake looked fantastic, tasted delicious and their service was brilliant. They were really flexible and came up with an amazing design for us as well as making the whole process as easy as possible.
Couldnt mark any higher than 5 stars but would if I could. Ordered a cake for my dads 60th from these guys and they were so friendly and helpful from the get go with suggesting ideas for the design etc. The finished cake was an absolute showstopper and a perfect addition to a special occasion. Would recommend to anyone and everyone - thanks team toots! Will definitely be ordering from you again x
My wife and I were married on August 26th 2018 in London, it was wonderful. The year leading up to it was full of nonstop lists, organising and decision making - which date?, which venue(s)?, who to invite?, which dress? rings?, food? any allergies? , travel plans?, music? ... and so on.But when it came to who was going to make our cake, it was an easy and obvious decision, in fact there was nothing to decide (other than the flavours).I had visited Bristol two years previously and happened to stumble across Ahh Toots, a sweet and charming little independent place in the St Nicholas Market. That day I had what I could only describe as the best cake Id ever tasted - Chocolate, Bourbon, Espresso.Fast forward two years and were discussing wedding plans, the mention of cake comes up - "It has to be that place in Bristol, Ahh Toots".Being a busy bank holiday weekend, it was touch and go at first as to whether they could confirm a booking for us. But we were so grateful that they managed to squeeze us in.Wed originally planned to pick our cakes up ourselves a day or two beforehand, but were told the only way to make it work time wise was for Emily to make the journey herself, all the way from Bristol to central London on the morning of our wedding.Honestly, the effort and care shown to us was just so touching and incredible.Emily and Tam were a pleasure to work with throughout, conversing and arranging ideas for which flavours and decor to go for.Based on number of guests and allergies, we chose to have 4 cakes and 5 different flavours. Our main cake was two-tiered, a lovely and moist carrot at the bottom and a wonderful, zingy and refreshing Lemon, Courgette on top.We also had the Choc, Bourbon of course (so good!and a deliciously rich Banana, Salt Caramel. And we had a fantastic Vegan Chocolate cake too.We honestly havent the right words of thanks or happiness. Our cakes really were perfect and amazing. As well as being delicious, they looked fantastic too, even better than we could have wished for.Ahh Toots are true masters of their craft and were so happy that they were able to make them for us.EVERYBODY said lovely things about our cakes. Were of course upset that theres no more left, but we look forward to one day coming to Bristol, meeting Emily and Tam in person and enjoying an Ahh Toots lunch. We cant recommend them highly enough. Thank you, Ahh Toots!Much love, Ben and Clair x
Our wedding cake was absolutely amazing. The Ahh Toots team were fantastic and so helpful from the tasting consultation through to the pick up, it really was exactly what we wanted, tasted so damn good and looked beautiful. I have never seen so many people eat a cake so quickly! Thank you so much!
Highly recommended place to get your cakes for business or corporate events. We used ahh Toots as we knew we could get a spectacular and delicious gluten free cake so everyone could enjoy. The price was reasonable, everyone was so impressed and Ahh Toots were even kind enough to make our logo and feature it on the cake!
