This review is for the Rasperpunt Hiking Trail which is in the reserve, starting and finishing at the wreck of the Meisho Maru. This trail is a 5.4km circular hike along the beach, through the fynbos and up along a mountain ridge. We followed a trail map and leaflet kindly provided by the ranger at the reserve office. The trail is easy to follow, way marked with a white painted footprint symbol along the route. There are 33 points of interest, with numbers relating to information on the leaflet, mainly about the incredible diverse plant life, but also some interesting facts about some specific sites, e.g. the wreck and the stone age fish traps. The route is fairly easy to walk, but wear something sturdy on your feet to scramble over the rocky shoreline and for the up and down hill sections. The view from the ridge is great... and we were rewarded with a view of humpback whales breaching in the distance (we took binoculars). This was a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours in this reserve.
Lovely experience for the whole family with nicely maintained pathways and a topographical map of Africa to give some insights into the lay of the land.Definitely worth the trip, just remember to bring a jacket along as it can get quite windy.
What a beautiful national park with a well curated visitor area. A must place to visit on any coastal roadtrip.
it is the imaginary point where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet, a recommended stop when visiting South Africa
Awesome place. Very clean. Love it
A must go when you visit the Western Cape - South Africa. A unique place, well maintained and impressive,
Beautiful National Park, fantastic views. Nice hiking trails. Accommodation is clean with beautiful views.
Lovely relaxing outing. A couple of enjoyable cafes / restaurants where one can slow down and smell the ocean.
Beautiful place with a lot of history. We were there on a foggy evening and that made the lighthouse and wrecks seem all the more erie. This is the town before the park, but to get into the park from this entrance you need to have rented one of the little thatch roofed huts, which was also nice and well stocked for a weekend.
Just another one ticked off the bucket list..we stood at the furthest point of africa👌The African monument on the ground was great idea. Information boards is very insightful. Overal it was a great experience indeed.
Had a wonderful day out with the family, visiting Agulhus National Park, did the circular hike to the statue of where the two oceans meet, all along a wooden boardwalk right next to the Ocean, was stunning and quite refreshing, then afterwards took a short drive to the Shipwreck where at the Lighthouse and Museum Building will have more information about the ship and what happened, theres also picnic and braai facilities at this area, neat and clean ablution facilities are only at the parking lot and entrance up to the Lighthouse and Museum, shouldnt miss going up to the Lighthouse, like walking up a ladder to right on top, beautiful view from ontop, Museum is very informative
Where the 2 oceans meet. Map of Africa , Shipwreck and the National park
What a beautiful and well maintained National Park!
Such a beautiful coastline, worthwile to visit
Beautiful farm. So much history. Modern interior design. Comfortable beds and bedding. Clean neat exterior. Friendly staff. Excellent holiday! The kids loved the open space and amenities.
What a BREATHtaking park!So peaceful & rich with History!I would highly recommend to get a small tast of their history. They have the second oldest Lighthouse in South Africa, as well as it the most Southern point of Africa! There are a couple of hiking trails to do, as you will see some incredible things, like a shipwreck ect..We stayed in the Agulhas National Park for a couple of nights! It was truly hard for us to leave! ... it was really peaceful and you could just soak up the sea and all the Fynbos you are surrounded by.It is truly beautiful!Very clean and safe, fully suited with things you need, have a braai area, a fireplace, amazing shower(hot water), as well as a view of the ocean!
Beautiful sea scapes.Five Star chalets.Friendly staff.Overall a wonderful surprise.Well done Aghullas Sanparks Team.We will come back for more
Have to visit this beautiful lighthouse and area.
Great for geography enthusiasts, sentimental as this is the south most tip of Africa and where the Atlantic and the Indian Oceans "meet". Was lovely to finally get here. It is quite a drive and effort to get here though.
Always such a pleasure going there. Whether the weather is calm and sunny, or windy and rainy, the dramatic scenery makes it an occasion every time. Driving beyond the most southern tip towards Meisho Maru wreck and beyond a car is fine as long as it has some ground clearance. There are a few BBQ/Braai spots right on the rocky waterline and they make for a very special outdoor cooking experience. Its well worth the drive from Cape Town, even a crack of dawn day trip.
We were on a rush, but I had been there a few years before, and it was quite interesting to see the changes and additions made. The map of Africa, the board walk, the lighthouse. The area. Beautiful! Its a must see!
Best place to spend time and relax. No other place like ANP.
I enjoyed each and every momenti spent there the place is amazing.
There is really nothing quite like it, absolutely beautiful beach walks, wide open space to get some air, clear your head, and soak up the beautiful scenery. I highly recommend you get yourself down to the park, and enjoy. Safety is paramount, and there is no other place that is as safe as the Agulhas National Park.Beautiful
The natural beauty of the reserve is enough reason to visit, but the fact that the most southern point in Africa is located here makes this a must-see if youre in the area. There is a main road (suitable for all vehicle typesthrough the reserve as well as ample walking paths where you can take in the fresh ocean breeze. It is worth noting that the main walking paths are all wooden platforms and well maintained. During our visit there was no entrance fee, but I am not sure if this is Covid-19 related or if it is normally like this. Unfortunately the lighthouse was still closed when we visited, but hopefully they will open it again soon. With the current Covid-19 situation the reserve is still a great option as you can experience the beauty of the reserve from the comfort of your car.
Wow. Who would have imagined that this was so breathtaking. Southern most point of Africa. Fantastically presented-South Africa you have done us proud
Always nice to visit the Southernmost Tip of Africa, in Agulhas National Park
Had a nice little hike with my kids today!
Amazing place to visit. Has beautiful scenery and a great heritage.
The Atlantic and Indian Ocean meet here. The famous light house with rich history. It is a must see.
Its beautiful and quaint. We enjoyed the people and the town. Drive to the deli in Struisbaai for breakfast or lunch. It will not disappoint.
This a true SOUTH Africa. And this is where two oceans meet. Cape Agulhas "peninsula" where residents (at certain times of the yearmay ecperience the sun rising AND setting over the sea.
Great for birding with good sightings of pipits, larks, ducks, waders, rock kestrel, jackal buzzards and many more
Fabulous! A beautiful flagship for San parks. They did a great job to iconise the Southern most tip of the African continent!
Interesting park with an old shipwreck, old lighthouse and the southernmost point of Africa.
We pass driving by Agulhas National Parking. Maybe we should have stopped to walk. But the views were stunning and all the animals we saw in the route, it was enough to say: dont stay in the fast route, breathe some fresh air and enjoy the atmosphere on this fantastic trip by the sea on South Africa.
Agulhas National Park is a breathtaking part of the Cape, the country, the continent, and the world. It is a place of incredible history and geological significance - most notably, it is the southernmost tip of Africa and the meeting point of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. To walk through this pristine, fynbos vegetated, coastal landscape is to feel rejuvenated and awed by nature. To see the shipwrecks and know the tragedy that befell so many ships on their way along the Spice Route centuries ago is to be moved by its history and power.
Nice, clean and safe. Well worth a visit
Beautiful walk and scenery. Great to stand where the two oceans, Indian and Atlantic meet. The southern most point of Africa.
Great place for fishing, Galjoen, Kabeljou, Belman, Steenbras, Hotties, Kolstert and lots more,....ouch but the long walk af by die klippe. But its always fun and tiring😓
Beautiful views and and the southernmost point in Africa. Great for bird watching. Easy pathway suitable for buggies.
Very beautiful place with adorable views. This is the southerm most point of Africa. It is at this place that the Atlantic and Indian oceans officially meet.A bit windy. The cape Agulhas lighthouse was built to aid the early explorers on their passage of the rough seas off Cape Agulhas.Stunning place.Worth a visit.
The idea of standing at the most Southern point of Africa is a thrilling experience. The place where two oceans theoretically meet. The Atlantic ocean coming down the western side of Africa and the Indian ocean all the way down the east coast of Africa. It is spectacular in its simplicity. I felt privileged to know that I was born and live on this historical continent and that I could experience this historical landmark. You can stroll on the boardwalk, see and hear the waves break on the rocks, sit down on a bench and take it all in. Also make sure you visit the Agulhas lighthouse and find material to enlighten you about this place. Learn about the maiden voyages around the south coast of Africa, the many ship wrecks, the birds, the climate and enjoy the view.
Beautiful, peaceful and scenic. What more could one ask for. Pack a picnic and spend some time away for your day to day activities.
It was well worth the trip. The place has such a rich history. Also if you are looking for a place to have some quiet time this is it. The board walk is great and well designed, there are a lot of benches to at most of the points. Amazing sunsets too.
Very impressed by the new road being built and the new boardwalk is great. The lighthouse is wonderful and the lady at information is very knowledgeable
Beautiful national park! The accommodation (wooden chaletsat the rest camp is great. Make sure to spend some time at the lagoon. The rest camp is only accessible for overnight visitors. The 10km hike is lovely. The tar roads within the park are excellent. The only bad road is the municipal road to Suiderstrand, but its not a long stretch, and it is possible to drive there with a normal car (just go slowly). The southern most tip of Africa is brilliant! Visit the lighthouse and then do the boardwalk to the southern most tip. This is open for day visitors. Well done to SANParks!
Such a beautiful site from the lighthouse. You can park there and take the wheelchair friendly wooden path to the point which is only 1.2 kms. There are many photo opportunities, but note that drones arent allowed in this national park.
Its quiet and beautiful. The rooms are lovely, and its very reasonably priced. There are nice hiking trails, and many historic places to visit - like the Southernmost Tip of Africa and the Lighthouse. Definitely worth a visit!
