Agave Restaurant in Prague

The food was pretty ordinary. Whenever Ive eaten Mexican food, the food is always a burst of flavours in your mouth, nothing like that here. I dont think it was worth the price, not to mention that the staff could be a bit more courteous for a fine dining place.

Tldr; Good food and cocktails but very, VERY bad experience with staff. If it was for the food; 4 stars. Service 1.At first everything was ok, the waiter was friendly, proactive and frequently asked if we are ok. When it was time to take our mains we asked upfront if it was possible to have the dishes come by two instead of all at once. (We ordered shared dining but did not want all dishes for five people at once and prefer to spread them over the evening combined with some cocktails). The waiter said that this was not a problem and happily toke our order.And there is where it began; all our dishes came at once. No apologies, no nothing, only a small and bit angry reply that ‘it was not possible’ and he walked away. This was the same waiter that toke hour order not more then half an hour ago. That for whatever reason it had to be served all at once is fine, not ideal but fine. Can happen. But how a mistake, error (or lie?is treated really bothers me.After this event all the friendliness and proactive service was gone and for the remaining of the evening we had to really do our best to get attention. Manager walked by quite frequently not even looking at our table, total ignore. It felt like a total 180 from before the mistake.I hope this was a one time experience at Agave and the bad feeling we had after this event was really something in our imagination because i have never experienced this level of rudeness after making a mistake (or was it a lie?). Will never know, will not return because of the service.Still, the food is very good and cocktails taste great, so for that I highly recommend stopping by.

It was good but we had better food in prague. You cant order anything without cilantro and there are only 1-2 vegetarian options and non vegan. Prices were also higher than in other restaurants and the waiter didnt tell us that we have to pay 10% for the service so we payed him a tip.

This may be the best restaurant I have been to in Prague. The service and food were both amazing.Not only were the staff welcoming and accommodating but they also let me know in advance that because they were extra busy with a large group that food could take up to an hour to be made. This was great to know because if we were super hungry then I might have opted to try a different place. But I was happy to just enjoy the atmosphere and have some nachos.I dont think I can emphasize enough how good the food was. The meat was cooked to perfection and the seasoning was very well balanced.We had nachos, tacos, and a quesadilla. Plus a few drinks. I really enjoyed the bloody maria it was nice and spicy how I like it.Next time the only thing I would do differently would be to call in advance to make a reservation. (Even though they were able to get me in without one).Overall I really enjoyed this place and will absolutely go again and bring friends with me. I highly recommend going here.

Excellent food and service, very impressed! Try their special sauce, it is really something - spicy & sweet, passionfruit margarita went well with everything. Lamb tacos were just superb, best churros ever.

We‘ve visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening and booked a table for 6 people. Then however we were 7 and did not adapt the reservation because we thought that it is probably okay to have one person more seated on a table for 6. Well, it turned out that it was not okay. 🤣 When we arrived and I told the man at the reception about this, he was quite unfriendly and angry that we didn‘t call before and told me immediately that there was NO extra chair in the whole restaurant because they are always fully booked on a Saturday evening and that ‚this is a problem’. Well, it turned out that 1there was an extra chair & 2they were definetely not fully booked. He prepared our table with the extra chair and we could still feel his anger and some tension in the air. We were also not in the best mood anymore. The Service on the table was okay, the starter (Nachosreally good and the main dish okay to good.Due to the situation in the beginning, I would not go there again.

Food was great! Service started out strong, but a couple of large parties came in and then we were pretty much ignored the rest of the night. We had wanted to order dessert, but by the time we got our servers attention, the dessert we wanted was gone and we just wanted to get out of the restaurant. Still rated 5 stars because the food was so good!

A very nice restaurant with good food and interior. It is a bit pricy but you get quality food in return.The reason for the cut of 3 stars is because we were quite thrown off by the service. Most of the employees there are doing a great job with the service but the one that attended to us at first is like an abrupt, strong annoying bump on a creamy road that makes you hit your head against the window of the car and wakes you up from your sleep... Or that mosquito that comes for your ear drums right when youre ready to fall asleep in a chill breezy room on a bed with brand new bedsheets - just ruined everything...I have the name of the waiter in case the restaurant management wants to take action - an email address in your reply would be enough.

Delicious Mexican spot with home made Habanero sauce. Service was fantastic, as were the margaritas. Was left hoping for a little more flavor in my burrito, but the sirloin steak was pretty good nonetheless. Huge portion sizes and a nice ambiance.

Ordered Pineapple margarita, local beer, spicy chicken soup, and chicken tacos. Service was good and fast. Food wasnt fresh - explains the fast service- but the flavors were good.

One extra star for the friendliness of the staff there.Limited menu in food but delicious.Tried Burrito (vegand quesadillas (chicken)The kind person gave us warnings on what is spicy and what is not.He gave us amuse bouche and dessert on the house.Tequila punch and special martini - must try in cocktails

They claim to serve authentic mexican dishes. Pork belly was dry and had no flavor whatsoever, no kick, no spice. There was just a tiny bit of Jarrito cola gastric smeared under the pork belly. With the elote I wish I could have dipped the corn in the crema cilantro, again the crema was under the corn. Didnt taste any flavor of cilantro. California burrito had just too much potato in it. Couldnt taste any cheese either. Margarita was weak and on top they charged an extra 210 kč for a coctail called Turbo we didnt even order, saw in on the receipt later. Too bad I forgot to take pictures of food. Very underwhelming and way too overpriced for the portion size. I say this as I dont mind paying extra for good food. This was not.

Nice place for food and drinks in Prague, which satisfied our craving for Mexican food and margaritas. Friendly service. Reasonable prices coming from the US, although I get the impression they are on the pricier side for Prague. The California Burrito was quite good!

Food was delicious, service was really good. We got 2 present. 1 carrot cake, 1 shrimp with mayo souce like a starter. Cocktails was not cold enough and churros was not good.

Food was nice. Service was slow, and at payment we were asked if wed like to leave tip with credit card... If I didnt mention it, asking for it feels a bit coercive. Overall would visit again.

We had tried the day before to reserve a table but they were fully booked. Tried again the next day at 6 pm and we were lucky! I highly recommend this restaurant both for the food and the great staff! The girl that served us was very helpful and nice. If you are in Prague dont forget to stop here if you want to eat Mexican food.

Food was delicious, probably the best Mexican food Ive ever had and right up there with the best food Ive had in Prague.. Which is saying something. The mock-tails we had were also lovely and the staff were friendly. Highly recommend!

As an American living in Europe, this is the best Mexican food Ive had in YEARS. Service was great, mixed drinks were great. I would definitely eat here again.

I never thought some of the best Mexican food I’d ever eat would be in Prague. This place was absolutely amazing and took us by total surprise. The drinks, nachos, tacos, and churros were prepared and tasted awesome. If you’re in town and looking for a great meal, definitely check this place out.

Had dinner here. This place is so good! There are a lot of table and the mood is really cosy. We had lovely cocktails. We also had quesadillas and burritos which were enormous! There are vegetarian options. Staff is super nice. Prices are fine.

My friend and I had dinner here our first night in Prague. What a treat. We loved this place. The food was exceptional and the service was amazing. I can’t remember the name of our lovely waitress but she was fantastic. We also had another male waiter tend to our table but we didn’t get his name! Both were amazing and we felt so welcomed. The best meal in Prague! Just a short walk from the astronomical clock and the crowds on the square is this gem of Mexican cuisine. The portions are generous, the wait staff are friendly, the atmosphere is stylish but relaxed, and everyone spoke English. The tacos al pastor were amazing! The homemade hot sauce was incredible! And when we asked for something off the menu, they were delighted to make us something special. Our group dined here two nights in a row, and still crave the place. If you miss the chance to try this place, you‘ve wasted your time in Prague.

This is my new favorite restaurant whenever I’m in Prague! The food is SOOO good and consistent. I went there for dinner with friends then had to go back the next day and the day after for lunch. I wish I discovered this restaurant at the beginning of my trip. If you are looking for a place with delicious foods, drinks, good prices and a great staff, I highly recommend Agave! I’m still thinking about the food 🤤 can’t wait to go back!They made a special cocktail for me because if you know me you know I am obsessed with pineapple 🍍 thanks again to the workers!

Fantastic food and service! Chicken soup was rich and with habanero sauce (home madehad a nice kick. Quesadillas with chicken were solid and filling. Additionally, weve got nice amuse-bouche and a lemon margerita shots on house. I do highly recommend this place.

Beautiful restaurant, nice service with very friendly and cozy atmosphere. Especially our waitress was super nice and she even spoke Spanish 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻We tried nachos with guacamole and queso fresco, tacos de carne asada and Ribeye with green beans tempura and sweet potatoes purée. Everything is a must try, I especially recommend the ribeye which was extremely delicious! Worth every penny.

The margaritas took 2 minutes and the nachos under 10 minutes. Both were really great!

First time here for two years ( pre-covid and it was lovely to see that its just as good as ever! Amazing drinks, delicious food and friendly staff in a awesome, cool setting. One thing that made us quite sad is how quiet it was. Covid has hurt so many amazing businesses which is terrible. So if you love Mexican food, support this amazing restaurant, you will thank me later 😊

I fell in love with this place today, restaurant has elegant high end vibes mixed with mexican one. The food here is fantastic, it doesn’t matter what you order here, it will be delicious. The portions here are pretty big, I was full and satisfied. Food is delicious but a little hard to eat, a lot of it is prepared to look pretty but they could focus more on being able to actually eat the food without a mess. The guacamole and goat cheese quesadilla were delicious though, just wish the goat cheese was actually inside and not on top, but still tastes so good I’ll be coming back.

This place is amazing! We ended up eating here twice it was so good. Very friendly staff that spoke great English. The food is very impressive, and authentic. Also, if they tell you something is spicy, you can certainly believe it.

Delicioso. We arrived later in the evening, a group of 6, and they were quick to have us seated. Margaritas were fresh and authentic, and each of us had an incredible meal, ranging through several burritos and tacos. We were in and out in just over an hour, and all very satisfied.

Due to our short vacation in Prague, my girlfriend and I decided to go to this Mexican restaurant since we both like the food and the place has a good reputation. Sadly, we left disappointed. It started with our reservation. The waiter attended us to our table, which was in the same room as a big group of customers who were really loud, which is why I asked if it would be possible to get a table close to the entrance where no one was sitting. The waiter made an annoyed face, but he checked the bookings and said it was not possible. This was the first annoyance, because, during all our stay, the other tables stayed empty, so the waiter apparently just lied. Normally, that would have been the point when I would have left, but my girlfriend was very hungry, and we wanted to try to enjoy our vacation. Nevertheless, we ordered cocktails and something to eat. The cocktails were OK, but not worth the money. The food was served in small portions, and my girlfriend and I were still hungry afterward. So I asked one of the waitresses for the menu again, and her behavior was really arrogant and unfriendly. Although it seemed a problem to bring the menu again, we got it in the end, and after some time and the unfriendly question if we didnt find anything, I was able to order the churros for dessert. The dessert was nothing special, and most of the churros I ate at a carnival tasted better. After that, we paid, and the waiter from the beginning asked for extra money, which I didnt give because the quality of the customer service was insufficient. All in all, I cant say anything good about this restaurant, neither about the service nor the food. First and last time

What an amazing Mexican restaurant. The decoration is cozy and beautiful, the food is amazing, and big portions, and the margaritas are very tasty!And on top of that our waiter Petr was friendly and had great recommendations. This is a must place in Prague!

I ordered the California Burrito and was thoroughly impressed. This was the best burrito I’ve had in those part of the world and would absolutely go back. The staff was very nice and helpful as well. Everything was clean and comfortable. I couldn’t ask for a better experience.

It was my second time visiting, and this second visit definitely lived up to my prior experience. Delicious food, and tasty cocktails. If anything, we ate too much! We would definitely recommend.

Amazing Mexican food, really high quality and food came fast. Some dishes were a bit salty for my taste but its the best Mexican food Ive had! Portions are very filling.

Great vegetarian food, Petr served me at the bar. Quality whisky sour also. Ask for the habanero sauce if you need more heat.

This restaurant is kind of hidden, but dont wait to go there. The food was delicious, fresh and so tasty. Also, you must have a couple of margaritas, I tried passion fruit and enjoyed it much. Perfect for a romantic dinner or just a small celebration as I had. The cake was special and I had an amazing time, thank you.

We were here for a couple of Margaritas, they were wonderful btw!Nachos is the perfect combination as a finger food for drinks.The service was helpful and the drinks very prompt , I highly recommend it

Best Barbacoa in Prague!My girlfriend and I loved the Californian Burrito and Barbacoa Tacos, despite of having had Covid and unable to taste I still loved the home made Habanero sauce along with the Barbacoa which melted away in my mouth along with a good spicy kick!Very cosy restaurant, excellent service and would definitely visit again!

The service is excellent. The staff takes great care to explain ingredients of each dish.The food is ok-ish compared to Mexican food you get in US. Garden seating lacks ambience and not polished at all.Don’t order guacamole with chips! No onion in guacamole and neither were the chips salted or fully baked.I would highly recommend trying out their home made habanero sauce.The prices were on the higher side compared to restaurants in this area.
