African Village Hotel - in Banjul, Gambia
African Village Hotel in Banjul
Description
Great to stay nice beaches 👍
Nice staff. Clean and good rooms. Comfortable beds. Nice gardens with lots of beautiful plants (with muscitos).Unfortunately the paths inbetween the rooms are narrow. So no room to sit. Very closed in. However rooms with seaview have nice views from balcony. Because of being on a hill, it is very windy. Many bumsters outside the hotel. Wifi only near poolarea.
MoreWunderbares Hotel.Tolle Aussicht.Viel Grün.Supernettes Personal.
Heerlijk
MoreLækkert hotel lækker pool god service utrolig imødekomme og høflige personale kan klart anbefales
MoreVisited Gambia around 5x a year when i was a kid with my mom and dad. Stayed in african village every time, it was like my 2nd childhood home. Best hotel in the world, so many memories revolve around this hotel. Friendliest staff too.
MoreNice hotel at the seaside. Big swimming pool with a bar in the middle. Rooms and bathrooms need to be renovated. Excellent restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff.
MoreWent here back in 2005. Was a great experience for me and my mate. With that said the entire place, this hotel and Gambia in general is packed to the rafters with old European men and women looking for young locals to, lets say, play with. All pretty grim really. Watch out for the bumpsters as they call them. They want to help you with everything, at a cost. Everyone will know you because they work at your hotel remember? One night a guy tried to dump his sisters on us for a good time.No thanks. Enjoy the weather ignore the old pervs and youll have a great time.
MoreToo many fixable problems for a hotel, and the fact that they dont accept credit or debit card its a big problem. The food is not super good, there is no internet or tv in the rooms and the bathroom sometimes doesnt have water. Being on a budget is ok but, the lack of care is visible. The pool could be nicer if people and management respected the "no smoking" policy.
MoreNice little hotel, breakfast was fine, pizzas were great...
Small budget hotel. Bathrooms a little tired but clean. Staff were attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. Great sea views.
MoreБлизко к берегу.
MoreGreat facilities, african breakfasts everyday including peanut porridge, which i loved, staff were friendly but not intrusive. I loved seeing everyone everyday with a cheery good morning or good evening. The only thing i didnt like was a male receptionist trying to trick us into paying for a new kettle, which we did, supplying an old one then having the cheek to ask us to give it back the day we were leaving!! We gave it to a friend there.Rooms were spotless everyday and so were the rest of the facilites.
MoreDejlig lille hotel, fine og rene værelser, super dejlig personale og hyggelige omgivelser.
Moreunfriendly personal, dirty rooms, a/c and internet not working at the room, food is horrible!
MoreGod mat.
Sehr sehr schlichte Zimmer, schon recht runter gekommen. Personal freundlich.
Thant you
MoreVery very splendid
The service with warm reception was encouraging
2006-12-06 - Visited this hotel and the stay was OK, but quite basic and the rooms was really low standard. The staff was nice.We experienced some English single men, which spend their vacation here and bought “company” outside the hotel for the whole week. I know that the hotel couldn’t do much about this, but personally I didn’t enjoy to watch this relationship, which clearly where one sided!
MoreNot bad... Cheap. Next to the sea. Nice sight
3 star hotel with 5 star staff and very friendly eager to help
Its cool and accessible
A basic but clean and well maintained hotel. The pool area is brilliant with sun beds and a pool bar. The food is tasty and varied. Staff are all brilliant, friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic but cleaned everyday and fresh towels. Staff quickly sorted any issues we had.
Morebest time I have had.Best staff .Well looked after and Aminata was 1st class but this is Gambia and as for price you get what pay
MoreLove it!
Very good restaurant with a very nice, kind and fun staff! Although the bar-man tried to cheat us on smallmoney several times.Nice pool-area and a small but flourishing garden. The rooms to the beach are ok and with a very good view, do not choose the other rooms. The hotel is an oas and you get real much for the money. But outside there are crowded with aggressive and stoned bumsters. If the hotell or state wont fix that problem, the hotel will loose all their visitors...
MoreVery good
Nice and clean also cheap to drink and eat in close bars beach bums a nuisance
Fabulous place, on the ocean, staff wonderful.
Gemoedelijk hotel. Volledig in Afrikaanse stijl. Leuke ronde hutjes als hotel kamer. Goede keuken en gezellig personeel.
MoreReally good hotel, with a great hospitality and attitude
Pay 700 dalasi to just use the pool? Ridiculous!
Not the most westernised hotel, but that was a definite plus point to the holiday. Im not going to mark them down for the power cuts, as it seems to just be part of Gambian life. The taxi controller happily went off shopping for wonjo and nborr nborr for us at the end of the holiday, and the fantastic bar maid Fatou even shared some of her birthday cake with us! Room was clean and comfortable, if a little basic. It did have Aircon, though, which was a more than welcome addition. The pool was nice and cool, with a well placed set of steps/seats so you could sit in the water whilst next to the bar, and there were enough sunbeds that we never struggled to find one.Food was ok, better than a weatherspoons and notably cheaper, they were happy to provide us with a packed breakfast when we left on an excursion before breakfast service. The local taxi drivers were all helpful, especially paboy, and the restaurants and craft market just outside were all fantastic
MoreОчень хорошо. / Very good. Not bothering stuff and guards, nice big territory, fare price. Bacein, bar, massage, books, all such things. Normal brekfast. Pleasant evening show.
MoreThis place has different types of rooms and quite interesting amusements such as African dancers and musicians.
MoreNice African style hotel. Frendly stuff, good food, good location.
Peaceful, great view, professional staff for the Gambia standards and the price is right.
MoreThe staff and entertainment here are phenomenal and your own private beach and driveway means no hassle from the bumsters! It is a great place for exploring Bakau (Kachikally Crocodile park is a 10 minute walkand the beaches at Cape Point. A highlight was the pool and the food in the restaurant! The staff are attentive and friendly. The beds and pillows were a little too hard to sleep on comfortably throughout the night. This would be my only negative comment about the accommodation.
MoreOk
Great rooms, I have stayed in the huts which were spacious and had what I needed. I have also had a balcony room facing the sea which was lush. My girlfriend and I have been twice, the staff are friendly, food is good, rooms are clean.
MoreDesperately in need of renovation and cheering up.
Great!
