Cars drive through this safari-style park with many exotic animals, plus eateries & a gift shop.
I had a wonderful time. Overall the animals seem like they had a good life. It was fun to see the varied amount of wildlife on the safari. The roos were a really fun treat to see up close. The restaurants and snacks are the general overpriced foods. Although, the grape ice cream cone was fantastic. Definitely worth taking a trip and a 1/2 day to enjoy all the animals. I did spend about an hour Petting the horses! If youre an animal lover enjoy the trip. If youre not an animal lover, then youre a garbage person who shouldnt leave their house :)
The jungles bus is lots of fun, and I loved feeding the animals. I have never been this up close and personal with the animals. I would say this is one of the best experiences I have had in my life. I do recommend to hold off on taking kids under the age of 8 on the bus. Some children just had a very hard time sitting through it. If you do take young children they will have to remain seated on your lap for the duration of the bus ride.
Little costly but nice experienceOne can take self car to see animalsAnimals are not very close but still worth visiting1 hour may be needed to complete tourIf selected by bus then u can enjoy feeding animals

The place is so beautiful. Great place for childrens and adults. You can feed the animals from jungle bus. It was a thrilling experience. You can also drive by yourself but you can not feed the animals that time. Jungle bus is the best option if you want to feed the animals by yourself. Love the place.
A really nice place to visit, especially if you havent seen some of these animals up close. The jungle bus tour is very interactive with all passengers given a feeding tray to feed animals, and they get real up close to you. It was a pleasure to see the lions so up close in real life. A must experience if you have kids.
Something fun to do for the kids in Beppu. It is quite pricy at $70 for two adults and a free 3-year old. Took about 40 minutes to make the loop in the bus while feeding animals. Unlike a zoo, the animals here have plenty of free range to move around. Maybe it was the heat (or Valiumbut the animals seemed a little sluggish. Our daughter really enjoyed it...I wouldnt have to go back again, though.
Interesting and if you have car you can drive your car inside the Zoo. Because if you will use their bus to look around you have to pay for the bus fare.
It was a beautiful place . huge in area and can see different animals such as lion, grizzly bears, cheetah, tiger girraf and many more .the best part was you can take your own car inside and enjoy the place .But if u want to feed animals than u have to take their special bus.the security was also amazing .loved it.
You gotta visit this place! Lions, elephants, tigers, giraffes, all sorts of deers, camels, rhinos, leopards, allot of zebras and more, I just forgot the rest, they were all in your face. You can be 100% safe and ride the safari bus and even get a chance to feed the animals yourself or you can even drive you own car in the safari but you will need to sign a waiver that they will not be liable for any damages. Either way you will have a great time. Afterward, there are more safer animals like miniature horses and kangaroo for you to pet. Also plenty of food places and gift shops.
Lotsa wild animals roaming around and feeding is fun!
Drove around in private car, and all was very safe. Animals were roaming and lots of people around to make sure all is safe. Recommended!
I’ve never ever observe any carnivore in such a close distance before. It could be a great idea to ride on the jungle bus as you may feed some animals. It could be a exciting day for your kids to learn about animals. There is quite a large area of grassland and it has imitated a natural environment for animals. Most of the animals has lost their hunting abilities as they were greatly affected by human. It is difficult to see any ecosystem here.
Love how you can feed the animals, especially the lions. Was rather sad to see how the lions canine teeth had been sanded down though... Didnt manage to play with hedgehogs or take photos with lion cubs as we were on a group tour, but thats something I wouldve definitely liked to try.
Beautiful park thumbs up! You will experience feeding wild animals face to face! Elephants, bear, and even lion!
If youve got kids, place is absolutely worth a detour. The safari park features 4 of the African Big 5 animals (no Cape buffaloas well as tigers, black bears, giraffes and other animals. The Jungle bus ride experience is a must - as it allows you to get really up close to the animals to feed them. Try to make reservations a month ahead of time to avoid disappointment, even though it is possible to catch a bus without reservations.
A great safari park. Much bigger than visiting a zoo. We first went on the jungle bus which took us around the park and we stopped to see different animals and were able to feed some of them. Theres a choice of several restaurants. There was a petting area where you can hold and stroke small animals like Guinea pigs. My daughter also took a pony ride for 500 yen. Finally we went around the park again in our own car and could stop and admire the animals for as long as we wanted.
Outstanding safari... The jungle safari tour is one of the best I have ever visited. Well done to the owners. Well maintained and the animals look well looked after for a enclosure.Only feedback is to have instructions in English as well... Defenitely worth the visit.Tip - Buy the tickets from Beppu station.. All included for 3,700 Yen. Even the bus ticket.
An amazing and unforgettable experience! Get on the jungle bus and you can feed the wild animals, such as lion, elephant, deer, camel, etc.Not many dining options. Suitable for the whole family to visit
Very exciting safari place to visit and even have taken photos with lion cub
Nice safari with really good environment. If you have time during your visit to Beppu, ypu have to come to this place. Only around 20 minutes from the center of Beppu
A great place to spend your holiday with your friends or family. This place excited me, a lot of animals as seen on some documentaries. For sure they must be happier if they are at their real "home" but at least they look healthy. The place is well managed, clean and organized.Personally I dont like the Zoo DVD rental service at the start point, Its seem like you are forced to use it.
A very fun and excited zoo to go with your children.
2nd time going here. Has a ton of animals to feed
The jungle bus tour experience is amazing! Definitely recommended, whether you’re bringing kids or adults. The animals look healthy and happy, with plenty of open spaces for them to live in.
It was pretty amazing with the species you will get to see, to be honest , I see more species than I can see in the safari in South Africa 15 years ago. you choose to drive your own car, they will fixed you a dvd which is really quite nice and informative. The only thing I am not sure is whether it is a good idea to let people riding the horse or children riding the pony. The whole idea of a safari instead of a zoo is to let the wildlife habitat in environment simulating the wild and let visitor viewing without captivating them. Having the ponies kept in the fence is not quite follow the same idea.
The park is really amazing. You can drive into difference areas, stay as long as you like and get close to those wild animals. Very valuable experience and highly recommended for those who drives. Meanwhile, you can also take the "animal" bus to feed the animals inside the park.
Recommended, it’s clean and can feed lion, elephant, bear from jungle bus, but the types of animal are not many.
Fun, wife had a great time. How often do you get to feed the animals in the zoo. From lions to deer. Petting zoo had a baby lion she held and got photos with. Fun time, even got decent food
Nice Safari. They let you feed the animals, the safari takes 1 hour. After the safari you can see a Monkey and Kangaroo exhibition.
Must try the safari bus, you get to feed lions, elephants, camels, sheep. Kids love it. After the bus ride, you can drive your own car through the safari to see the animals up close. There is also a petting zoo in addition to the safari. Plenty of restaurants too.
Excellent excellent! We paid for the per pax entrance fee and addtional ¥600 to drive through the park, entering each enclosure at our own pace. Close-up encounter with the animals. Park rangers were close by to ensure safety of tourists. Highly recommended for self-drive trip to Oita. The photos are not showing up for my posting...
Very good experience for children to watch and feel wild animals closely. Not too crowded place for taking a walk casually. No horrible smells of animals. Bus from JR and back, convenient for tourists.
what a beautiful and fun place where u can meet the animals closely
This is a unique zoo. It costs ¥2500 per adult just to enter the park. There are several petting zoos, feeding enclosures, horseback riding, and a safari trail. If you want to go on the safari trail, you have to pay ¥600 to use a private vehicle or ¥1100 per adult to ride the "junglebus," from which you are allowed to feed animals. The ride lasts around one hour. This is probably the closest you can get to animals like black bears, lions, Asian elephants, and bison. But as with any zoo, some of the animals look miserable and unhealthy.
A place for having fun with kids and family. Higher recommended to take their bus for tourists to get through the wildlife area. They offering a food tray for you to feed the animals eg lion, tiger, elephant..... that’s really exciting especially the area of lions. You can drive your own car but you can’t feed the animals. Take their bus would be more safe. Great place to spend a whole day with family.
Very reasonable and entertaining! You can buy a ticket under $40 at beppu station that comes with bus fare, admission, and a cool ride that let you feed lions, bears, elephants! Its very pretty there and nice with lots of hills and nature to enjoy.
Excellent wildlife animal experience, feeding bear, lion, elephant. Physically hand carry the cub (both tigers and lionsfor photos (extra cost in designated schedules). Feeding the tiny monkeys is adorable.
Great for kids to feed to animals they dont usually see at home. Other than this part, its a normal zoo.
Totally awesome experience and very close to the lions!
Highly recommend to go with kids and ride a bus to feed lions, elephants and giraffes... its awesome!
Great zoo for kids and adults, you can feed, touch, animals.
We absolutely loved this experience. Unfortunately none of the guides or explanations are in English on the actual safari in the truck part. Also recommend doing it in the safari van at the park as you get a chance to actually feed the animals whereas if you drove your own vehicle you would miss out on this and the animals tend to only come up close to the safari van. There is also some other stuff around the park but we all thoroughly enjoyed the actual safari itself.Would recommend if there buses stopped for alittle longer when feeding the animals e.g. we only stopped to feed the lion for less than 5 minutes which sucks because you really want to take in being that close to the animal !
Overall, we had a very good experience. The 1 star rating is my attempt to get management’s attention. There are things to love & hate about this place. It costs about $75 USD for 2 adults to get in and take the bus tour. Literally, everything once you get inside costs an additional fee. The bus tour felt rushed & the driver was constantly apologizing that we had to keep moving. My number 1 complaint is regarding the attraction to get your photo taken with a lion cub. The system is awful. The sign says “please wait & pay here” but there is no one to take your money. We waited for 45 minutes & then we were told that they were not taking any more photos that day. The staff was not apologetic at all and a bit rude. This is not typical in Japan and was very disappointing. It’s my opinion that you need at least 3 people working at this attraction. You had 2 the day we were there. There should be 1 dedicated staff member for customer service. All-in-all we spent about $100. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I do it again? No.
One of the unique experience one can get by interacting with animals being so close to their natural habitat
Took the family (4yo and 2yoon the Safari Bus tour - incredible experience which lasts 50mins and lets you feed the animals through the protective wire grills. There were plenty of animals and the kids enjoyed it. If you are feeling courageous you can drive your car through (just keep your windows closed :)). Note that there wasnt any English translations during the tour. There are also additional activities to explore on the property including a dog and cat petting area, mini pony rides as well as other smaller animals. You can see on the map that theres a lot to see here.
If compare to another safari park, it is a bit overprice. Except the jungle bus, the other is not impressive.
It was our first time visiting the park which was a bit small but the environment was very quiet and neat. The food at the restaurant was great as well. The highlight was miniature horse riding and monkeys feeding. My 3 kids enjoyed it very very much.
If you like animals and are planning a visit to Oita/Beppu/Kurokawa/Mt.Aso, this place is amazing! We went on a weekday so it was pretty empty. If you take the bus you can feed lions, bears, deer, etc. If you drive your own vehicle, you can drive your own pace and watch them being fed.
Fun adventure. You can drive your rental through here and enjoy the animals without being rushed.
