Kotu Beach, Kotu, Gambia, Banjul
African Princess Beach Hotel - in Banjul, Gambia
Beautiful place and the workers were helpful. If Im coming back to Banjul this place will definitely be my accommodation
Perfect! Perfect!! Perfect!!!Clean rooms, very helpful staff - always smiling... Loved the location - if you love peace and quiet.... though its a bit far from the heart of Senegambia. xxx🥰
Good location, clean rooms and very courteous staff.
It is an awesome place to stay. The people are welcoming.
Friendly staff and very clean and nice environment
I loved the pools in front of the rooms. The beach front was also a MAJOR attraction. The concept was solid and beautiful. The ambience was right. The pools overlooking the beach front was also beautiful. Some things though need to change.Water treatment for the shower needs to improve. It was really hard water and my bath soap struggled to lather. The buffet breakfast was very limited in menu. So was the lunch and dinner menu. They need to expand this and feature more African dishes. I struggled with what to eat often.I also had LOTS of mosquitoes in my room on the first night. For a hotel of that standard, this was ATROCIOUS! I had to use my hand to kill mosquitoes to be able to sleep. This means that they are not thorough and the room cleaners were not careful.I left these comments at the reception. I plan to visit again in another week or so and Id hope to see that things have changed.
I love it
Great place for a wedding
Absolutely fabulous, amazing staff very attentive, food was delicious at first, then I was served stale prawns and again cold chicken,be careful always check before eating, hard working staff always happy to help with any problem, weather amazing no need to worry about the gas bill !, visits to monkey Park is a must, had an absolutely amazing time, kunta kinte Island very emotional but to time to reflect on the atrocities that must never happen again,I absolutely love the Gambia and you Will too,.your in a safe place close to all local attractions 🥰😍🥰id like to add to the companies owning and exploiting These hard working beautiful people,to pay them a proper wage they are not slaves and deserve better.i have now returned to england with the runs from hell hospitalized with gastroenteritis "thanks to the prawns and raw chicken !!!
Hotel is located with beach front access. Enjoyed convenient direct walk to beach from hotel property. Appreciated USB ports in room. Meals at hotel restaurant were good. Service was a little slow paced. However, servers were friendly. Restaurant has direct views of beach and swimming pool. Towels in guest rooms bathroom can use an upgrade. Guests should bring own washcloth (hand towel is smallest sized towel offered). Guests should bring own disinfectant wipes/spray to clean remotes (tv, air conditioner). No indication remote controls were cleaned after previous guests. From my observation, when there were problems with guests room, hotel staff quickly worked to resolve the problems.
Absolutely brilliant hotel
The hotel is really beautiful, staff members were very professional and couldnt do enough for you. The service was excellent and the food was exquisite and well presented, and the cocktails were to die for. This has become our favourite hotel in the Gambia 🇬🇲 now and we cant wait to come back. Well done African Princess hotel.
Absolutely first class. Staff helpful and friendly, great rooms, superb restaurant with a delicious breakfast Buffet. Right on the beach with a choice of pools. The swim-up rooms were great. Roy in the restaurant was great and looked after us like royalty.
Lovely hotel, very much enjoyed the swim up pool. Many options for breakfast. Rooms and hotel could do an update due to wear and tear. Really enjoyed our stay though. Hotel staff are fantastic.
The room was excellent beautiful and clean and we lived having our own pool. The room staff Fatima made our stay perfect. You really do need to sort out the bar staff the left hand did not know what the right hand was doing sorry buy you were useless. Change the bar staff you have a beautiful hotel and they spoil it. Breakfast also needs a bit more thought get rid of the cakes people do not want cakes on a morning. But keep doing what you are doing we will definitely be back to the hotel in a couple of years. Thanks
More than 5 start swimming pool just infront of the varanda ,full AC ,perfect Internet connection, TV channels great and lots of options, especially for kids and Netflix and many more. Breakfast great delicious foods ,nice coffe neat area. Will definitely come back
Very fun place, nice rooms, environment, ambiance and staff were friendly. I also had direct access to the beach. Food is good and affordable too.
You will like the ambitious environment and ⛱️🏖️ beach.
Compared to all the places I have been in Gambia, I must say, this place outmatched them by a mile. Staff is very friendly and professional. Place is neat, interior and exterior decor is top notch.I must have been given the presidential menu because the food was exceptional good and plentiful.
Beautiful location , staff very kind
Great staff, lovely environment and food
I love the serenity and design of the hotel. It has individual pools, a common pool, and a great view of the ocean. The staff are friendly and it’s a really beautiful place to stay.
African Princess is perhaps the place every holiday maker vising The Gambia would love to be. The customised swimming pool at your doorstep is so refreshing. The colourful environment at night is so refreshing. The meals are good and the staff are professional and ready to help always. Room are comfortable even though one would have wished for more variety of TV channels but hey, you dont go to a beach resort to watch TV. There are other eateries around just in case you want to taste something different. The beach is welcoming. You may however need some mosquito repellent if you are sitting outside late. Trust me, you will not regret staying at the African Princess
What a jewel.. the best hotel in West Africa. I want to stay!!!
We had a wonderfully prepared lunch and drinks between the beautiful pool and a supremely picturesque beach. I hope to stay in a swim-up room on my next visit.
We just visited Gambia for the first time. We were looking forward to a combination of luxury (the hoteland experiencing/helping the locals since its very poor. The hotel was clean, beautyful and lived up to the expectations, BUT they apparantly treat their employees with No respect.A waiter at their restaurant took us to a soccermatch between to local teams, highlight of our vacation, and Got fired for it. Excuse from the hotel manager was that he had Broken the rules of proper conduct towards the guests, even though we explained to him, that we had asked for this.He waited firering the waiter until we went home (we have him on whatsapp though and follow the development from home).Going to Gambia is for us also an opportunity to help those who live there. The hotels obviously just make prey of the locals.
We looked really forward too staying at this hotel. So we had booked 2 rooms and read trough website and everything.BUT when we arrived we was denied accsess to the hotel. We had 1 child with us that was 5 years old. This was not ok for the hotel. They blamed the pools, but did not even ask if he could swim or we are able to watch him.It did NOT state this on any website or booking site!So i am not gooing to stay or recomend this hotel any time. They did not even provied us with any options or other hotels.Just trew us out.. poorly.
Modern clean hotel in excedllent position. Good food and some decent restaurants nearby. Good pool and beach. Taxis available to take you anywhere at very reasonable cost - ask for Omah
Love this Queen of a hotel. Gorgeous, cleanFriendly right at the ocean beach. Sunny skies and very friendly staff. Owners are just amazing.
Beautiful hotel, Id say 5* for The Gambia. Fantastic food and delightful helpful staff. No need to rush out early and grab sun loungers as many rooms, like ours, have their own with a continuous pool running along the bottom of the terrace. Truly relaxing getaway.
Oh , I forgot ,as we were there for new year. Gala dinner...( same dinner choice ,but outside .local DJ playing local African tracks . In the later evening we had him plugged into my phone playing my playlists. . No atmosphere , like a morgue..
Great place great view of the Atlantic Ocean and private swimming pool
A developing hotelPositives* Modern contemporary hotel suitable for business and tourism.* Large light and airy rooms.*Located on the beach*Large main pool and additional private swim up rooms on some ground floor accommodation.* Free Wifi* Free breafast.* Currency service* ATMAreas for improvement*Experienced staff who have the authority to resolve accommodation issues should be on hand at all times to support junior members of staff completing the practical element of their F&B/Hospitality Certificate. It took 12 hours to gain access to the rooms booked and confirmed by Serenity travel.*Preparation of some food stuff. Please see my picture of what looks like steamed pork sausage.*Providing daily fresh produce; cucumbers were often dried out and had a very odd taste. Bread served daily but not always fresh; fresh bread usualy served every two days.*An appropriate system to be implemented that polices the usage of the privatepools associated with ground floor accommodation. It costs an extra £130 per week(for 2 peoplefor this privellge which I now regret paying for as anyone who wanted to swim there were able to do so free of charge.
Will definitely come back to this hotel, its still finding its feet, all in all the perfect place to relax!
Classy hotel. Many business and conference-people. Nice and tidy (swim-up)rooms. However; you hear nearly everything. When it is full, you will have little privacy. Food and drinks pricy. Some rooms get a lot of sunshine.
Great place to stay in Banjul! New and spacious rooms and an incredible collection of pools
Its a beautiful place... Lovely pool and service is good!!!
Very Clean and Beautiful View. Reminds me of home, with less stress. SUPER Friendly Staff.Delicious food. 5/5 coming back.
This is a beautiful hotel but its built in a very poor area there is no road outside
I went there for the spa and it was awesome. Friendly staff and the place was very clean. Perfect!!
The staff was very helpful, the hotel was clean and beautiful, the food was lovely, the room was exceptional. A big thank you goes out to Lolly and the reception team especially the manager who extended my late check out. Another big thank you to Henry, the ladies who made breakfast and all the staff that served me throughout my stay, it was a wonderful experience, oh not forgetting the security that were all ways willing to help and made us feel safe during our stay thank you all 😊🙏🏿
Beautiful hotel, quite quiet when we visited as fairly new and near end of tourist season
Beautiful hotel with friendly staff. We had an amazing stay here. Will be returning with my partner, friends and family!
We stayed in African Princess for a week, booked via TUI. We had a room downstairs wit swimup at the beach side. The swimup is nice because of the private sunbeds, which are nice and sunny in the morning or afternoon, depending on which side you are. The rooms are all new and clean and quit. Hardly any disturbing noise from the neighbours. The airconditioning is placed at a convenient spot above the door instead of above the beds. The beds are fine, but not very soft. The rooms have a big wardrobes including a small locker for valuable things. The people are very friendly and willing to help. They serve a nice breakfast buffet in the morning. A cook is available to prepare kind of eggs, omelets, etc. An improvement could be the serve only fresh fruit instead of half fresh, half conserved fruit. We had dinner at the restaurant once. The food quality is good but not very exceptional. However, there are plenty opportunities for a nice dinner closeby. We recommend Shiraz, which is in the same street. There is a money exchange counter inside the hotel. It is adviced to bring some foreign cash to avoid high cost withdrawal from the machines. As far as I have seen the other hotels in the Gambia, I would say that this new hotel belongs to the top 10. It is also nice to see that they are respond very positively to feedback and try to improve.
Great hotel, very high standard compared to other hotels we saw in the Gambia. The rooms are huge and very nice, pool is not very big but clean. Great location on the beach and close to some bars and restaurants. The pool bar is a total ripoff though, nearly twice the price of any other place. Breakfast was wonderful. I Would come back! The only thing that wasnt so great was housekeeping; they showed up at different times every day, sometimes more than once in a day.. Occasionally they took our towels without replacing them. Its a brand new hotel though, hopefully that will get better.
A recent hotel, and by far the best hotel in the area. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with a modern design. The ground floor room have a direct access to the pool, just perfect to zip your cocktail your feet in the water. The area is quiet with a direct access to the beach, five minutes from the Senegambia area. Staff is nice and professional, always helpful. There is a bank at the hotel.
Lovely terrace and swim up arrangement outside rooms. One side full sun other with shade (rooms 501-608). Very friendly and helpful staff. If booking 2 rooms ask for them to be next to each other as terrace is shared. Good pool and beach areas with parasol although we preferred our terrace area. Cash only payment but cash machine on site so not an issue. For info - can only take out 6000 at a time but can use more than once a day. Earlier posts highlighting teething problems were a concern but all resolved by the time we got here. Limited menu but local choices nearby. One mosquito bite between 2 of us! Used a repel plug in room. Weather perfect - warm with gentle breeze. Will come again.
What a lovely hotel. Best one in Gambia by far. Ask for a swim up room on the left hand side for sun all day. Ask for Gabriel if you want to use a taxi here he is very helpful and honest.
Arrived yesterday and so far cannot fault anything. Breakfast today was lovely well cooked not a bad selection either. Staff are lovely helpful and polite so far so good.
Spent our New Year Night here.New property and very well designedBeautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean and beautiful rooms. Private pool access to all rooms on the ground floor. Good food and Good friendly service.
