Darbar Mahal (Daulat Khana). The construction of Darbar Mahal alongwith Nishat Mahal, Farrukh Mahal and Gulzar Mahal (originally known as Bahawal Garh Palaceswas ordered in 1904 by Nawab Muhammad Mubarak Khan also known as Nawab Muhammad Bahawal Khan 5. The Nawab ruled the state from 1903 to 1907. The construction of these grand palaces was completed in 1908 during reign of Nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan 5 at a cost of 9 lack 65 thousand 200 hundred 63 Rupees and 7 Paisas. Since it remained under use as the Prime Ministers Secretariat from 1932 to 1955, hence it is perceived that its original name gave way to the present name, that is, Darbar Mahal Two big "Fichus trees in the front lawn of Darbar Mahal are stated to have special been imported from Europe by the Nawab.

An late nineteenth/early twentieth century palace built by the Nawab of Bahawalpur, this palace is under the control of Pakistans army. And boy oh boy, have they maintained it! Not only is the palace well-preserved, it offers a spectacular dance of lights when they come on. Therefore, I recommend one visits late in the evening and enjoy the palace well lit. I loved each and every fact about this beautiful ancient palace. The thing that surprised me the most was acknowledging how it was built with rice,wheat floor and pulses as well as baked bricks.. Its construction is thoroughly outstanding and it looks even more amazing from the inside..

Its an amazing place. But this is not accessible to public, its under army so you have to take special permission for this.Also this mahal is currently used as offices so even if you have permission, you will have to visit it after office hours.

Amazing architecture and build. You need to get some reference as the place is now HQ for an army Div. Though they let you through once referred by an army rank.

Darbar Mehal is one of the palace built by Abbasi Dynasty in Bahawalpur. It is not open for General Public but one cam visit after taking permission from Army Cant office in Bahawalpur.

Scenic beauty, Classic royal castle, picturesque view, perfectly maintained (Thanks God its with military otherwise wouldve been stinking).Lush green views in the scorching heat of Bahawalpur stands this castle reminding of a glorious royal past. It has two little buildings within its premises namely Nishat mehal and Farukh mehal.Although youve got to get permission from Army to visit the place or if someone is known to you in the military but the news is that the royal family has won the royalty of this mehal and will be handed over to them, likely by mid of 2018. Lets hope the royal family takes care of this beautiful palace as the Army did up till now.

This palace is the most beautiful of all the palaces in Bahawalpur. Though the palace is not open for public still you can visit it if you have some army connection. The palace now serve as headquarters of Ordinance 35-Div.The beauty of palace is multiple times more at night.

This palace/Mahal is maintained by the Armed forces of Pakistan and trust me seeing this was an education. Seeing this was an honor. It was a MAJESTICAL evening to see this palace lit up by 3d hologram and then followed by amazing light show. Incredible palace and incredible management of this palace

Darbar Mahal is a palace of Abbasi rulers of Princely state of Bahawalpur. It is situated on Hasilpur road few km from Farid gate. Its an amazing place to visit. Constructed in 1905, it is very well maintained and reflects its might & glory of heater years. It is owned and posessed by army and used as office complex. Palace is complex of small palaces.The beauty of palace, its lawns, the courtyard and bara Dari (outdoor court with 12 arched entrancesis stunning. Pelicans keep you in company... in case youre wondering why?? Because pelicans are national bird of Bahawalpur.At night the building is used to entertain you with a light & sound show. Only problem is its closed entry, restricted to advanced intimation through a formal request.If youre in Bahawalpur, three things you must see are Darbar Mahal, Noor Mahal & desert fort Derawar.

Darbar Mahal is a very historic palace in Bahawalpur that is absolutely grand and majestic in appearance. Constructed in 1904 by Nawab Bahawal Khan V, this majestic palace has great architectural beauty.The palace is located inside a huge compound that consists of Darbar Mahal (the biggest and most prominent of all), Nishat Mahal, Farrukh Mahal, Baradary and Royal Mosque. All these building are surrounded by huge lawns and orchards.The area currently is under use of Pak Army who pay rent to Nawab family for using these buildings. Unlike Sadiqgarh Palace that has been ravaged and ransacked over the years, these properties being under use of Army are very well maintained. One can clearly see that Army has done a great job in restoring these building to their original greatness.However, the flipside of this arrangement is that these architectural wonders are not open to the public and visitors need to get permission from Army to enter the premises. A visit can however be arranged after coordination with the Army authorities. After the coordination has been done with Army, the entry is free and there are no fees to paid anywhere.When in Bahawalpur, a visit to these palaces is a must and one must try to find out a contact in Army to coordinate a visit to these fascinating buildings. At night when fully light, these buildings take the visitor to another world and leave a grand impact of their presence. Highly recommended.
