Adina Mosque - Mosque in Nawabganj, Bangladesh
A very good place for visit and spent time . Also very clean and calm place.
A monument depicting the historical past of Malda.Good place for a trip with family and friends.
Beautiful Place of Malda District
It is not a practicing /active mosque aLot of painters can be found inside the premises and the sprawling greenery adds to the tranquility....."The structure is built by stones used from demolished temples" my source of information is Wikipedia ...and I cannot vouch for the authenticity
This place can be more beautiful. Govt must look to preserve it properly.
The Adina Mosque is situated about 16 km from the town of Malda. It was built by Sultan Sikandar Shah and is the largest Islamic monument of Bengal. It is one of the finest architectural structure built in Bengal during the Muslim period. As we first entered the mosque, we were awed by the vast dual coloured wall. Below, the wall was made of grey stone up to about 10 feet. The upper portion of the wall was made of red bricks. The Adina Mosque has many distinct remnants of Hindu deities on the gateways and the walls of the mosque. Also, the interiors of the mosque had Hindu carvings and designs. A local guide informed us that there are 2 theories regarding the building of the Adina mosque. One states that the mosque was built by stones brought from various Hindu temples that were destructed and broken down those times. So, Hindu signs are evident on the carvings and works of the mosque.
Nice and historical place
Nice place to visit with family in Adina, Malda. Good place for photography also. Visited again yesterday after so many years.
Adina is a small hamlet adjacent to Malda Town. Once it was a capital of then Gour Bengal. The history of Adina is very rich. It has a great mosque which is an example of of Adinas glorious past. Besides it, there are more mosques like Eklakhi and other relics of the past. Adina Deer P is a new destination today besides these past monuments. The village Adina itself is very nice. It is a typical Bengal Village.
Its a good historical place to visit. Really liked the place. The place is well maintained. But there is no guarding staff inside the place. The place is less crowded. You can also find car parking nearby and you have to pay only Rs.20 for this purpose. To visit this place you need not spend any money on tickets. 👍big thumbs up. Recommended.
Good mosque but location is very lonely.
Wow.... Beware Of Camera Use And Remember It Can Take Charges By The Authority
Its a good experience to spend some quality time at Adina Mosque. The campus is huge. It will provide true historical landmark visiting feelings. This place is protected and well maintained. Nearby, you can also visit Adina Eco Tourism Park, just beside that. This place closes sharp at 6PM. So, visit accordingly.
This is the third time that I have visited Adina mosque in the last year. In my childhood, I visited the place twice. This is a must visit to all to explore tha fact that how the mosque was built in the sultanate regime, keeping the original temple structure and without removing the sculpture of severel hindu gods and goddesses like, Visnu, Ganesh, Lakhsmi and Saraswati. It is unbelievable. The most interesting fact is, the campus is absolutely clean, although I found none to take care. The reason was discovered later, when I overhear a middle-aged icecream sail-woman saying her client that unless I remove the paper you will definitely throw in inside the campus. This is truly amazing.
Surrounded by beautiful nature 😍. Love this 😀
Its a historical place. Well maintained. Inside view is also very good.
This is built in 14th Century by Sikandar Shah,The Rular of Bengal beside NH34

Beautiful place to visit...but the timing given on google was upto 7 pm but the guards over there were very unfriendly...and started insisting us to leave place from 4_45...they were rude n kept following us till we left....this was very bad experience...they should mention correct timing in google as lots of ppl chk Google before visiting....
Now ruins.Once was the Largest Mosque in Asia
This is a wonderful 14th century architecture of the then Muslim ruler of Bengal, Sikander Shah. This reflects an almost forgotten history and architectural beauty of Bengal. Although located very near to the National Highway no 34, this is a hardly visited place. It is a must-visit site maintained by the Archeological survey of India and a protected monument as well.
A nice historical relic you should visit if you are in Maldah. The mosque marks the imperial ambition of Bengal Sultanate of thirteenth century and one of the largest in Asia. Now its in ruins.

The mosque was the largest mosque in the Indian subcontinent. It was built during the Bengal Sultanate as a royal mosque by Sikandar Shah, who is also buried in the mosque. Shah was a member of the Ilyas Shahi dynasty and carried lofty titles such as "the exalted Sultan" and "Caliph of the Faithful". The mosque is situated in Pandua, a former royal capital. The vast architecture is associated with the hypostyle of the Umayyad Mosque, which was used during the introduction of Islam in new areas. The early Bengal Sultanate harbored imperial ambitions after having defeated the Delhi Sultanate twice in 1353 and 1359. The Adina Mosque was commissioned in 1373. Its construction absorbed materials from pre-Islamic Hindu and Buddhist structures.😊😊😊You should visit there

A great place to visit in Malda. Located 20kms from town, this place holds a huge historical value. This place is well maintained by Archaeological Survey of India. The sculpture is brilliant. The grasses are nicely trimmed and plantation is well maintained. Best part is you dont have to pay any entrance fee, just have to pay the parking fee for your vehicle.
Adina mosque or Jami Masjid was built by Sultan Sikandar Shah during 1364-1374 AD. It consists of large reactangular open Courtyard, Surrounded by rows of arched and dome.It is good for traveling with family and friends.here you can spent some time and feel the old architecture. The government should maintain the Mosque and do some work to attract more visitors.
While I walk through the ruins, I feel the magnificent past. Though the mosque is built by the Sultan Sekender Sha, its construction make you feel like pre-islamic hindu and Buddhists construction. It was THE LARGEST MOSQUE IN INDIAN SUBCONTINENT. If you love to visit historical places..then this place must be in your list.
This is one of the oldest mosque in Malda district. Femous and popular for holidays tour. The opposite side of the road their you can fine the most beautiful deer park.
The region is 15 km north of Malda. The Adina Mosque is one of the most spectacular sights of Aial. Built by the Syrian Umayyad Mosque, it is the largest mosque in South Asia. Around 5 CE, Sultan Sikander Shah built the mosque. The mosque is 120 feet long and 122 feet wide in the north-south. There is a place for girls to pray. The guest house was surrounded by mosques. Adina mosque is next to the tomb of Sultan Sikandar Shah. The fine craftsmanship of terracotta and brick in the tomb is truly unparalleled.
Liked the architecture and carving on walls and pillars of the buildings, the lawn area as well as open space inside the mosque. The environment inside the Adina mosque is so serene, calm and picturesque. The area is well maintained with good housekeeping. Grasses nicely trimmed and plantation well maintained. There is place for parking as well. No tickets for visiting this place
