Addis in Dar in Dar es Salaam
Description
Privilege
Wow. Billowing frankinsence, classic ethiopian music, authentic taste, large portions, palm tree skyline, flickering candles, unique furniture and decor what more would some one want? The prices were MORE than fair for this experience, anyone who thinks the prices are too high should probably stick to street food. I will be back soon for sure.
MoreI love Ethiopian food but this spot is for me the best in Dar!Thé cosy ambiance and decoration make you feel traveling… The staff is just amazing and always checking on you, they are very kind but also well trained!Food is so yummy… you can close ur eyes and feel Addis lolWith a little fee you can also bring your own bottles if they don’t have. Location is perfect, prices pretty affordable, I highly recommend this place!
MoreCozy..food is amazing....the waiters are awesome..very welcoming and warm...
A place to be, if you want to try Ethiopian food!!
Good always tasty food
Lovely setting and great food!
Ethiopian Cuisine is an experience one must have. The minute you walk inside and take in the big mango trees around, incense sticks aroma, warmth of the staff, cute wooden and cane furniture and the Ethiopian music playing in the background you are set for a lovely time here.If you are in a group of 5 you should try the Coffee Ceremony and keep the host informed in advance for the preparation. It was my first experience trying the cuisine and I am looking forward to revisiting Addis to try out every item on the menu.Go there when you are extremely hungry only then youll be able to complete the portion served to you!Honey Ethiopian Wine is ❤️
MoreVery good and Authentic Ethiopian food.
Just thinking about the food at Addis in Dar makes my mouth water and heart feel happy. I love this place like crazy. The food is perfect every time we go. The staff are very professional and attentive. The ambiance is lovely. We had take away for the first time tonight and it was still great! I was very happy to see that bundle of injera with our family sized meal!
MoreLove it alot. The ambience and the food was too good. Havent eaten so much in my life. Very delicious food
MoreI wanted to eat Tanzanian food for dinner, but the place that I wanted to go for authentic Tanzanian & East African food - doesn’t have a menu with prices and I read a lot of reviews of tourists being charged ridiculous prices after food was consumed.I’ve fallen for that scam once in Italy, Never Again! So we ended up eating the cuisine of another East African country instead. Ethiopian food at Addis in Dar. One of the few restaurants open on Tuesday night (which seems to be the weekly holiday for restaurants in Dar)Set on the open terrace of a 2 floored house, surrounded by trees, there was a lovely breeze blowing which made for a good experience. We ordered one of the combos that came with misir wot (masoor dhal), chicken doro wot and lamb alicha wot. Added a gomen (sautéed spinachto this combo. When the food arrived, the injeera was made from rice, not teff and there was a bit of a a cabbage carrot dish too.Excellent food, light on the stomach and tasty too. They had tej and other alcoholic drinks too, but I had a fresh lime soda to combat the heat.
MoreFantastic experience! Delicious food, very nice atmosphere, gentle and well prepared staff. I suggest to go and prove it when in Dar!
MoreEthiopian delicacy restaurant. Opens late in the evening and is poorly positioned. It lacks good signage too. Poor variety of drinks but the food is manageable
MoreDelicious Ethiopian food and good service. It was just a warm quiet place with outdoor seating. Ideal for a nice evening out with friends or family.
MoreGreat service and food. Atmosphere was calming. Honey wine was delicious.
The food is amazing, the service is exceptional, and the vibe is awesome. Its an experience to have in Dar.
MoreAmazing and unique food experience for everybody that never tried Ethiopian food!! Amazing environment, staff very nice and delicious food! Not too expensive, good quality/price ratio!
MoreVery good food!
Food tastes good but you need to order a lot to fit size of a plate. Its an ideal place to visit with a group of people who love to eat.
MoreAmazing restaurant with delicious food and more than professional and friendly waiters. The atmosphere is amazing. We will come back for sure. The place to visit when you’re in Dar! *****
Morebest place to get Ethiopian food in Dar! the ambiance, the music, the service...all great stuff!
MoreI was there last about 10nyears ago then again today. The place has not changed! Food was amazing. Simple and rustic seating but somewhat relaxed and enjoyable
MoreI was siting on the roof .Service is very good inviting . They explained all what we have asked.Food was amazing.Highly recommend.Prices are on the mid rangeTotally worth it.Will definitely come back
MoreGreat spot! Service was exceptional and the food was amazing. Also they wear masks, gloves, etc to ensure you have a healthy visit.
MoreAddis in Dar is a great Ethiopian restaurant in upper class Mikocheni in Dar es Salaam. The venue is in the middle of a lush garden. Menu with original Ethiopian dishes is ample. The service is friendly and any dinner is concluded with an Ethiopian coffee ceremony.
MoreGreat restaurant with a real authentic experience
Addis in DAR ... Lovely place. The ambiance is great... You feel a bit of fairy tale. Service is very polite and efficient. All goes smooth and with ease. It has become one of my favorite places after just one visit but will go in the coming days again to see how consistent it is. How to evaluate Ethiopian Food, I honestly believe for non-Ethiopian it will always be subjective. We enjoyed it very much, the pumpkin was lovely full of aromas, the bread lovely, I enjoyed the shrimps and chicken that where bombs of condiments and spices just lovely. The waitress coming with water for you to wash your hands... Just nice (suggestion here I would put some scent in the water... just a littleIt will also be a place where I will take guests often and happily. Have a nice meal!
Moreamazing food really good atmosphere. a bit expensive but totally worth everyt shilling! if youre there you must try the buna (traditional coffee)
MoreWas taken there for my birthday treat by close friends... it wqs one of my best birthdays ever. Absolutely awesome Ethiopian food, with amazing ambience to match. The staff is friendly and they make sure you are as comfortable as possible. Go there in a group, so that everyone orders different food and you get to sample a variety of their cuisine.
MoreIm a fan. Prices are extremely good given the quality of the experience. The ambience is perfect for a nighttime dinner to remember. Although Im not quite sure if I like Ethiopian food in general--sour bread isnt terribly appealing--, its definitely at its best here. No problems with service.
MoreDelicious and very authentic Ethiopian cuisine on a lively decorated rooftop terrace. Wonderful for group dinners as well as dates!
MoreThe meal here was one of the best that I have had in Dar. It was just amazing. The terrace seating with the candle lights create a very relaxing environment. I would love to come back!!
MoreIts a nice place, the traditional Ethiopian food is cooked nicely. I have no problems with this place
MoreA great experience for having authentic Ethiopian food. The restaurant is situated inside the owners house. The main entrance opens up to a dim light staircase that leads to the main sitting area that is in the open with candles and low chair tables. The waiters dress in traditional Ethiopian outfits with Ethiopian music playing in the back. This is great for groups with some interesting combo options. Food is delicious and value for money. Their honey house wine is also great.#ethiopianfood #authentic #localguides #largegroups #valueformoney #healthyfood #vegetarian
MoreOne of the oldest legendary culinary hotspots in Dar. Good crowd..nice place for a group dinner. Cosy, warm and delightful. You can BYOB wine too!
MoreDelicious and reasonably priced Ethiopian fare in Dar. The terrace dining experience is exceptional - the candlelight, warm breeze, moonlight, under palm trees, with stylish decor...a true gem! Really enjoyed the tej honey wine as well.
MoreThe food was awesome. The restaurant is quiet and peaceful in the center of a garden. Very typical and well balanced flavor! A must in Dar ;)
MoreWas taken here by my friend... it is such a nice place. They are open from 4pm to 1030pm..nice place for both alone time and time with loved one, like family or partner.Good historic place for Ethiopia. Have best historic pictures of the Ethiopian countrytheir food is delicious and spicy.they also offer coffee..strong coffee.i will definitely go back..this time i know it will be amazing as well
MoreGreat service. Great decoration. Really good food! You should try ++++
Been here so many times..Counting back to more than 10 years. Friendly staff, consistency in services - great service. Food is always yummy, always tastes the same for me - I love the consistency in this as well. Its good for big groups of people dinning together because of the sharing of food aspect. I love their teas and coffees - very aromatic! I recommend this restaurant if you like to try different cuisines. This is an Ethiopian Restaurant.
MoreGreat food, service, setting and vibe. Highly recommend.
Coffee ceremony at Addis in Dar for a group of 30! This restaurant was magical for our group of 30. What an amazing environment. The food was top notch and the security made it feel like a true privilege to eat here. The food was incredibly well priced and amazing!
MoreBeautiful place with kind service and delicious finger food. The insence give a very authentic feel, but can be a little too much if your airways are easily irritated.
MoreThe only Ethiopian food restaurant in Dar (as far as I knowwith top-notch service and authentic Ethiopian food. Reasonably priced, quick service and nice atmosphere.Great seating outdoors on their second floor terrace.
MoreVery nice atmosphere. Food is of good quality and staff is very friendly. Definitely made me feel like if I was in Ethiopia even though Ive never been there but the overall idea seems quite right. Popular with tourists.
MoreThe Ethiopian restaurant is excellent. The Tej Wine was excellent. We had a combo meal with chicken, lentil and mutton. The meal was very delicious and served in traditional Ethiopian style. The outing was very memorable and we just enjoyed being there. The staff was quick and efficient. Worth coming again and again.....
MoreGreat authentic Ethiopian food, tradionally served outdoors on a first floor terrace. If you are in Dar this venue should be on your bucket list!
More“Go there for an absolutely unique experience”I believe you cannot have the same Ethiopian experience another place. When you come to the door you start questioning yourself "what I am doing here?" but this changes around when you are the main floor. You have absolutely great Ethiopian music, and the traditional tables (photo). The way they serve coffee and food is absolutely unique for those who have never tried Ethiopian cuisine. I believe not all of you would appreciate the food (as it is traditionalbut you will definitely have great mood after being there. Amazing!
MoreAs a long-time patron I would like to recommend Addis in Dar very highly indeed, not only for its finely prepared, excellently spiced, genuinely African cuisine (and this is genuine cuisine), but perhaps above all for its entirely unique ambience and eating experience (including its style of presentation). Indubitably the most sophisticated yet still authentically African restaurant in Dar. A genuine culinary and atmospheric experience - and therefore quite different from the usual, run of the mill, "cloned" restaurants, many of which merely present a poor copy of some international concept.
MoreThis is now my favourite Ethiopian restaurant. The tej (honey wineis the best Ive had, the food is excellent. You sit out on a large upstairs balcony, immaculately decorated, the music is Ethiopian and interesting. Finish a meal with Ethoipian coffee - delicious.Prices are reasonable - around 7-8 euros for a meat or vegetable dish.
