Adam's Restaurant in Lai
Description
Privilege
We went as a party of 4 and had the tasting menu ( around 7 coursesthat was extremely well plated and very tasty, small portions as you would expect but perfect, we had red and white wine both excellent, cocktails and nibbles, spent 3hrs there and would recommend to anyone.
MoreMy first visit to this restaurant, booked by my husband for a milestone birthday! What a lovely venue with extremely attentive staff. Started with a cocktail in the bar, I was a bit chilled having had to walk round the corner from the taxi as parts of roads closed to vehicles to accommodate the German Market, I had a Rum based cocktail! We all chose the tasting menu and enjoyed the amuse bouche before the main event started. All of the courses were beautifully presented and the taste combinations were superb. I dont usually take photos of food but the dessert was so pretty,I changed the habit of a lifetime! No complaints , we shared the celebration with my son and daughter in law who had never had a tasting menu before. The portions are small but perfect for most of us. I guess my son could have eaten it all again!! No good for the heartiest appetite but just right for me.Delighted to see so many people dining on a Friday lunchtime too. Dont think theres as much of a financial crisis in this country as the media would have us believe.Recommended to anyone wanting something that bit special.
MoreWe had an amazing meal, could not falt it in any way. Service was impeccable and friendly as well, would certainly recommend it.
MoreAbsolutely breathtaking! I went for a birthday treat to my partner and I can just say that I haven’t had this level of service for a while. Everyone is very helpful, knowledgeable and polite. In regards to the Tasting Menu, I have discovered flavours that was completely foreign to me. Thank thank and thank you for making my partner’s birthday one to remember.
MoreDined here for lunch earlier this week. The 3 course plus a number of items as snacks from the taster menu.Everything as anticipated competently executed. But lacked the Wow factor.
MoreLovely restaurant, keep it for special occasions, this time with my children👍 food impeccable, service top shelf, and wines to accompany first rate. All in all the best dining experience for Birmingham by far!
More4.5/5. Dined here last evening for birthday/anniversary celebration. Second visit in four months. The tasting menu was varied and interesting, see pic. They accommodated my OH who doesnt eat red meat or chocolate. Ive only docked 1/2 point as both dishes for one course were served tepid (lemon sole/lambthe lamb was also chewy. (I offered this feedback and was offered another dish which I declined). Im also not a fan of unisex toilets. The service synchronisation was a little hit and miss such that the spacing between courses was inconsistent. Our aperitifs were slow to arrive which then cut into the wine time. All this does not detract from a lovely evening. But often its the attention to detail which makes the difference, especially for a high priced evening. Will definitely return however. Thank you for the greetings cards on the table.
MoreTechnically very good. Chef had a good pallet. My Wife enjoyed the wine sampling. A bit nouvelle cuisine: small portions. Expensive, but I think everyone is changing a lot just now. It was my Wifes treat and she enjoyed it, so job done.
MoreThis was our first meal out with our, then, 5 month old baby. We were so well looked after by the staff - even though we were running a little late, the staff were gracious and kind and made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious, the meat was so tender and the decor was superb. What a fantastic meal out after ages. Thank you to the team at Adam’s for being so wonderful
MoreVery nice venue with great food and service
From start to finish, we were blown away. By the end of the night, and the end of our 7 courses (plus all the extras they give youwe could not decide on our favourite. Every single thing we ate was gorgeous! We were encouraged to get more bread to mop up the sauces, which was great as there is no egos or pretentiousness, which you do get from some high end places. Service could not have been better, with the courses well paced and well portioned, and attentive staff who didn’t intrude unnecessarily. The cocktails were probably the only let down of the night, being okay, but nothing special. It is so far beyond worth the price, and as the menu changes so often, it is fair to say we will be back. It is definitely a place for a special occasion, and makes for a very enjoyable evening (we were there just over 3 hours)It is a place I will not forget, a few courses will probably stay with me forever, being some of the best food I’ve eaten.
MoreBirthday lunch at Adams and my first experience of Michelin Star dining. The service, the atmosphere, and of course the food were all first classHad the three course vegetarian lunch menu, but, with all the little extras that are brought out non stop, it really is value for money at £45 per headFelt really welcome (they even had a birthday card waiting for me on the tableand cant wait to have the whole experience all over again
MoreEnjoyed the meal experience. A little annoyed when the table water turned out to cost us. Turned out they were serving us expensive bottled water and were very frequent and attentive at refilling our glasses. Water and service charge £27+.
MoreTechnically perfect cooking, high end fine dining but perhaps lacks a little the intimacy found in some of Birminghams smaller fine dining restaurants. Still impressive and accomplished.
MoreMichillen star eat your heart out! Not just outstanding food but a wine experiance I will not forget. For what was a midweek treat turned out to be an outstanding experience. Could not recommend high enough!
MoreTried the tasting menu with our own selection of wines. Some of the courses were exceptional. The pigeon was delightful. A couple werent quite as special as i was hoping but Ill put that down to personal taste. The service was exemplary.
MoreI have visited Adams twice and I was very impressed, especially during the second visit. The tasting menu was very well-designed, and the food had great flavour combination and balance. Ambiance was good and the service was excellent. In fact, I find Adams to be better than some of the two-Michelin star restaurants that I have been to! I highly recommend Adams and I fully intend to return in the future.
MoreCame to celebrate a close friend’s birthday, booked a table and requested they prepared a birthday cake for us.Everything is good, there is distance between each dining table so you certainly have privacy… we had the 8 course tasting menu which was nice… the staff will introduce to you for each dish but in a very fast cold manner… don’t blame them if they have to repeat same thing again and again every day :D but without that human touch I would not give 5 stars£450 for 2 people is acceptable
MoreA very nice lunch at a well attended restaurant, I dont think there was an empty table. The layout of the restaurant is nice but it feels like it was originally designed for an Asian restaurant, I might be wrong but it was nice just felt a little out of place. The food was very nice, lots of little treats of dishes which gave your taste buds and eyes a wonderful journey. Each course was beautiful served by comfortable, knowledge, friendly staff that presented each dish perfectly. My congratulations to everyone you provided a lovely experience professionally whilst being busy, an art in itself. The drinks were perfect and again served by very knowledgeable and perhaps underutilised or under stretched sommelier, it was a shame that he wasnt able to stretch his wings particularly at our lunch table. I think a taxi powered dinner visit would have enabled him to have taken us on a far more enjoyable journey. So in summary; a really lovely experience, fab food which is what youd expect but rarely get. Beautifully served by a comfortably organised and well oiled team, really well done, it was a pleasure to have been waited on by you. I recommend that you go and see, experience the difference.
MoreAdams is one of the best fine dining restaurants in Birmingham! From the moment you walk in and greeted by a kind member of staff, until you walk out everything is absolutely perfect! The tasting menu is delicious with all kinds of different punchy flavours and ingredients! The champagne is amazing and the sommelier presented it to us and explained the main notes and where it came from! The service is absolutely perfect, everyone is very knowledgeable, smiling and always ready to assist with anything! I was celebrating my birthday and almost every single member of staff made sure to wish me happy birthday. Got a card and a candle with the petits fours. Everyone pays attention to even the smallest detail which contributes to an amazing experience! The little gifts we received after our meal were a nice touch too! Definitely recommend Adams to everyone who is a fan of fine dining! Well done to all the chefs and the front of house members!
MoreFantastic meal, the food was stunning, the service was exceptional and the sommeliers wine choice was spot on. A really great birthday meal and I even got a birthday card.
MoreLovely contemporary restaurant. Had the tasting menu and it was amazing. Each dish looked fantastic and pleasantly surprised me in their flavors. The service was great as well, I felt very welcome and attended to. If you are in Birmingham and want fine dining, I highly recommend the place.
MoreOur first visit to Adams 31/3/22We booked for lunch and chose the taster menu with the wine flight...what can we say... absolutely amazing from start to finish...made to feel so comfortable, waiting staff were attentive without being overbearing...the wine pairing was my favorite part , learning about the wines which of course, matched each course perfectly.... waiting now for another excuse to visit 😌
MoreHad 3 course lunch very good well worth it..great experience proper experience of service very professional and food defo Michelin star.well done all.
MoreSome people like an afternoon at Old Trafford. Or perhaps Edgbaston for the same money. I suggest you immediately consider being drowned in flavour and innovation at Adams.Im watching a particularly precise construction at the pass when a creamy pink sauce is poured before "service please" Id called. I sat at the Chefs table last Friday and was the only vegetarian option of 8 for the tasting menu. It was sublime and I highly recommend the experience of both menus. Their venison, their skate and certainly their satisfaction makes me want to return. The details of the meal I had have been captured elsewhere as I took copious notes while being entertained. I recommend you do what you can and enjoy James Goodyear and his staff and his kitchen asap. Huge thank you to Kim, as well, who guided me enough to not make me feel as though I was ever at risk of being lost or forgotten.
MoreYou definitely won’t leave Adam’s in Birmingham hungry. The 7-course taster menu was £115 and the a la carte, 3 course menu was priced at £85. We chose the a la carte menu because I preferred the dessert options and, knowing that if we each chose something different we would get to taste 6 different dishes…BUT we got a lot more than 6 dishes. Before we even got our starters we received 3 surprises from the kitchen and a substantial bread dish. The delicious sourdough bread came with an in-house butter and whipped pork fat. Both were gorgeous but I did tell my husband that I think the pork fat would have been more tasty if I ate it first and was then asked to guess what it was…I’m getting a little squeamish in my old age!Prior to dessert we got a pre-dessert dish and after dessert we got a crunchy biscuit post-dessert dish filled with a beer cream and a present to take home. The food was excellent. The ambience was top class. Personally, I prefer Adam’s ambience to that of Purnell’s, and marginally more than I did Carter’s.However, I thought the staff could be more ethnically diverse, no black or brown folk, but if you looked around the clientele were diverse so they should perhaps reflect on that.Although the al la carte menu was almost twice the price of Purnell’s I considered it to still be great value for money because of all the extras. They did push the alcohol a little harder as I think that’s where the profits lie but we don’t really drink and are just there for the food so…we just had sparkling water.Overall, a great experience. They could get 2 Michelin stars in the future because the attention to detail is massive, loads of ingredients and loads of tiny detail to the food.WHAT MY HUSBAND THOUGHT:The decor was lovely and the staff attentive and polite. The waitress we were served by was from Slovakia and the waiter was Italian. We were offered alcohol numerous times and although non-drinkers could see the impressive wine list and flights to accompany the tasting menu.I thought I might get full on the gifts from the kitchen before the starters arrived, including the bread, but that wasn’t the case even though the portions were a reasonable size.In all, I’d recommend Adam’s for any type of special occasion or even a lazy business lunch.#MichelinMemories #michelinstar #mystorywithmichelin #foodies #finedining #MICHELINrestaurants #restaurants #gastronomy #foodies #foodiegram #instafood @michelinguide #restaurantadams @restaurantadams
MoreFirst time visiting and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the tasting menu, the food was not the best in my opinion, a lot of the dishes were very salty and raw. I loved the dessert, overall will rate them a 6/10.
MoreIt’s hard to find the right words to describe how fantastic Adams was. It must be one of the most elegant & stylish looking restaurants I’ve been to. The food is cooked to a very high standard. Every dish was unique & creative. Then the amazing staff really enhances an already fantastic experience. This is a destination restaurant and is a must visit for food lovers.
MoreProbably the best restaurant in Birmingham. We were amazed by the creativity and the combination of flavour that we have never experienced before. Great service and the time between each courses were very well controlled. We loved all the extra details. If you have £200 to spare, please pay them a visit, you will not regret.
MorePlanned an anniversary lunch with my partner but due to unforeseen circumstances we ended up with our little one. None the less we decided to attend. The place was very polite and accommodating with the situation. However due to my little one getting restless we decided to cut the visit short. In the time that’s we were there, the service was phenomenal, very friendly and the brief experience we did have with the initial starters was immense.Service was on point and once we explained the situation to the manager he was more than obliging. I offered to pay for what we did have but he politely refused. It’s not something I usually like to do but with an unsettled child decided to accept and leave.Highly recommend the place and I will most certainly be visiting again with my partner - and hopefully get to enjoy the full experience!
MoreThe service atmosphere and staff were very pleasant no complaints there but the food…For me it was bland, too raw and overpriced for what you get I’ve been to plenty of restaurants and sampled there tasting menus by far this has to be the worst…
Moreexquisite food and exceptional service. the food was unbelievable and all the staff made us feel so welcome. 100% recommend and would go again and again.
MoreIt was a fantastic experience sitting at the Chefs table. All dishes served were excellent and flavourful and Id recommend coming here for a treat. If you plan to also book the Chefs table, do so well in advance as reservations go quickly (the table seats 12 people in total).I was on crutches when I attended, but they made it as easy as possible for me to get around, and were kind enough to give me a stool to rest my leg, without me even asking for it.This was my first experience dining at a Chefs table and it was great to see the chefs and the kitchen at work. Its brilliant how they stayed calm and organised with all the orders coming through. Its clear the head chef, Kieron, has built a great team around him and it was interesting to observe the guidance he was giving his younger chefs throughout the evening. To add to the experience of the Chefs table, each chef presented their dish as it was served. It was clear some of them would rather their food do the talking as they were a bit shy. But they shouldnt be, as its obvious from their dishes, theyre talented chefs. All the dishes were fantastic, and looked like pieces of art. They were all seasoned well and I truly couldnt find a fault with any of them.We chose to go for the wine pairing with the meal and each wine was perfectly paired with the dishes. While its a pricey meal, the quality of the food and the service offered made it all worthwhile if you enjoy fine dining experiences. Ill look forward to attending again as Im aware their menu is seasonal and Im sure it will wow me next time I come here.
MoreA first for us was sitting at the Chefs Table & what an experience too see all the team working together & yes there were some hiccups but great too see them recover. Food was excellent but first five courses came at a pace so had to a break to recover. Staff were excellent from start to finish & you felt safe at all times. All in all a great night.
MoreAbsolutely outstanding flavours and food. We had the three course menu and there were about 5 other mini courses brought that were just sublime. Lovely setting and lots of space in the room. Really enjoyed it and will return.
MoreOne of the best restaurants weve ever been to! The Chefs Table is a wonderful experience and highly recommended. Worth every penny.
MoreAdam’s is well deserved Michelin star for all reasons. The foods are delicious, the dish decoration is such a statement of art, the timing and amount of food serving are just right. It’s easily the best fine dining restaurant in Birmingham I’ve tried.
MoreAdams is the best dining experience you can purchase around the West Midlands. Nothing compares. It is expensive, yet worth every penny. Cant wait to go back soon.
MoreJust amazing! We had the 7 course tasting menu and sat downstairs at the chefs table. So, tasty, with great service throughout
MoreOk, I enjoy eating out, and we all strive to find the perfect dining experience,I can honestly say that Adams restaurant in Birmingham is absolutely amazing, its the best you can get, Michelin star food, great staff and atmosphere, serious attention to detail, its just top class. All you guys out there who want to impress the wife, stop messing and book, it will be the best dinning experience you have ever had.....Adams has got this place so right,,,Well done....
MoreA truly great dining experience. A chefs table to die for.Adam’s restaurant was genuinely a great experience. The food was outstanding. The paired wines were even better. If you love your food then this would be a great recommendation. For me this was a great way to celebrate the wife’s birthday.
MoreMy experience with Adams was truly wonderful. My family and I visited Adams for lunch at the Chefs Table and were treated to a truly spectacular meal. The chance to watch the chefs at work was wonderful - their attentiveness and commitment to their culinary art is utterly enthralling. All our dishes were beautifully composed, made from a subtly intermingling mixture of flavours delicate and bold.Whats more, the kindness and charm of the serving staff ensured that we all felt welcome, at ease and well looked after. It was fascinating to hear about the composition of our dishes, and the knowledge of all of the staff made our experience superb for a group of foodie fanatics. We loved our time with Adams, and the kindness and warmth of all of the team meant that our time with you was outstanding in every way.
MoreCame here for our 1 year anniversary for lunch, what an incredible meal and experience, the food was amazing and the service exceptional. The flavours combined with different foods was out of this world. Right now it is a 1 michelin star but i think its well on the way to getting 2 as Ive been to other 1 michelin star restaurants but this was a lot better than those places.
MoreWorld class. By far the best dining experience we have ever had. After visiting Purnells previously I didnt think it could be topped but this place far exceeded. Stunning food and perfect service without being pretentious. Highly recommended.
MoreExceptional flavours and presentation - I enjoyed Adams immensely. Not too expensive considering the quality of the food and wine selection, and the service is first class. Nice bar too - definitely worth getting there a little early and grabbing a gin and tonic!
MoreTrying restaurants as I’mNew in the area and here comes Adams. The food was amazing, we got the tasting menu... but I was expecting much more from a Michelin started restaurant, almost 10 minutes waiting to get a paper menu, the table dirty almost during the whole meal, a plastic placemat, not tablecloth... I mean I’ve being in many Michelin’s before and wasn’t what you usually get, maybe is a British thing, I don’t know. In general it was good but wouldn’t go back.
MoreIncredible food, discreet service and a low-key atmosphere designed to make all diners feel comfortable. I will definitely go again.
MoreWent with a friend for dinner. We pretty much ordered everything: tasting menu, additional courses, and two selections of wine pairing. Food was great of course, and the waiter has sufficient knowledge for the wine which was undoubtedly a pleasant experience. However I probably expected more creativity in the dishes. Being a foodie who tend to try nice and different cuisines globally, I personally think there was a lack of wow factor. It was definitely worth trying but I don’t feel the urge to go back, especially with the price I paid.
MoreAmazing experience, really worth the price.Food was very delicious! Professional but friendly service, good atmosphere. 10/10
MoreWhat an absolutely fantastic experience and can comfortably the best meal Ive had in my life. We went for the tasting menu with the added lobster dish as a special. Cocktails were very nice and reasonably priced for such an establishment which was a pleasant surprise. Before our first of many dishes from the tasting menu, we were treated to 4 dishes for nibbles of which all were outstanding and just a taste of things to come with the squid ink meringue being the standout.Every dish of the 9 course tasting menu was an absolute triumph, the presentation was elegant, refined and beautiful in its simplicity. The cooking was perfection, with bold clean flavours meaning there was perfect harmony of the different elements coming together effortlessly. There are too many highlights to mention in one review but the most notable dishes for me were the pigeon and the veal.On top of all that, the wine list was extensive and tasted exceptional. The experience in itself was only elevated by the ambience, setting and the staff. Not once did it feel overly pretentious or uncomfortable, the staff were fantastic; being incredibly professional and precise whilst remaining open, incredibly kind and relaxed which put us at ease. This was evident as we spent nearly 3 1/2 hours at the restaurant which seemed to absolutely fly by.A big thank you to the team at Adams for an absolutely unforgettable night, already looking forward to the next visit.
