Academy Motor Inn in Tauranga

Very tidy, super handy location ( on Cameron Road near hospitaland great service. We had an executive room which was very tidy, had all you needed for travelling and really nice tea/coffee etc.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Rooms are modern, clean and warm. Customer service was friendly and welcoming. Great location. We would definitely stay again

Great stay. Friendly people. The only thing we didnt like was the fan going in bathroom each time turned on light. Made a massive noise.

Beautiful room with modern decor and great service. Booked in half hour before arriving and they were friendly and accomodating. Bed was bliss to sleep on (Im 6months pregnant). Lovely spa. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely host when we arrived, she was very accommodating. The 2 room unit was perfect for our stay of 4 guests. Well appointed amenities, kitchen, bathroom. Lovely bright & airy. Good parking. One of my daughters & myself are housekeepers for high end hotels /motels in Rotorua & Taupo, it was so refreshing to stay in such a CLEAN motor lodge with excellent beds, linen, towels.. Everything was absolutely perfect. Thank you, Highly recommended. The pool & safe outdoor fenced area was lovely too. Cant wait to come back again. Our room was 18 we checked out today. Fabulous Hospitality 👌😊

From the moment I contacted Caroline and Simon about booking rooms for one night they were welcoming.The rooms were spacious, and very tidy and clean with enough space to accommodate 11 of us in 3 adjacent units. The kids love the water and were excited when they found out there was a pool there for them to use. Early morning swim before checking out was a bonus.Would definitely book in again for another family trip.

Was staying with 2 kids and it had everything we needed, especially liked the kids in the bedroom.Hosts are very accommodating and accessible given our stay was during the red light.No complaints and wouldnt hesitate to stay here again

We spent two nights here and the accomodation was very comfortable, neat and also very clean. Family Loved the swimming pool as well. Its very close to the city centre and the staff were very helpful too..

Great place to stay, handy to town and the hospital. Owners very friendly and helpful. Couldnt get over how quite it was considering its right on a main thoroughfare. Facilities are great. Highly reccomend staying here.

Good sized rooms. Fairly clean but aged. Most mod cons. Needs more power outlets for devices.

Carpet badly needs replacing. Bed was way too hard for me, albeit it was a modern high-end bed - just felt like a rock! Had super bathroom & I had a wonderful hot shower the day I arrived, but only lukewarm the next morning. All the owner could say was, "weve never had complaints about the bed or water before" - not exactly how to handle constructive criticism At $175 for 1 person for 1 night - I wont be back.

I was at Academy Motor inn during my work visit! Had a lovely stay. Staff was super nice and helpful! Clean and tidy. Everything was spotless! Definitely go to place when I travel Tauranga! Very convenient location!

Has to be the cleanest nice smellingvas soon as you walk in . The warm welcome and the help looking for good food was top in my books comfortable night sleep I over slept . My thanks for the stay I will be back if I can with work

Arrived later for my check in, greeted with a friendly smile... Even asked if I needed dinner. Room is very clean and tidy, would highly recommend.

Lady there seems a bit stressed out.Rooms are what youd expect from a motel.Pillows are comfy and the bed was firm. Had a great sleep but the missus didnt.Edit: Definitely stayed here. Name would of been under the other halfs name - Leilani Clarke. We were in Tauranga for work.

Host was really good. Room was nice. Right next to a major road so a bit noisy if youre not used to traffic. But generally pretty good

Accommodation close to everything clean and value for money but lip in bathroom bit of a hazard pool and spa closing at 8pm too early owners wife lovely but husband made our stay uncomfortable felt like he was watching our every move accidently left my key in the room he got so frustrated and gave us a lecture felt like a kid getting a growling very uncomfortable after that didnt want to approach him for anything even said he could charge me $200leftkeys in my room felt so bad ringing the buzzer before 8am but was just after 7am and he got very

I stay here for work atleast once a month. My absolute favorite. Wonderful hosts - breakfast is delicious! Amenities clean and very comfortable. Highly recommended

My father was in the nearby hospital so we booked into Academy for 3 nights. His ongoing health complications meant we had to keep extending our stay, eventually to 2 weeks in total, and Simon couldnt have been more accommodating. We were so grateful for the peace of mind of being so close to Dad with comfortable, clean rooms and the little extras like a cheery smile, encouraging word and bath salts! It really made a big difference at such a stressful time. Highly recommend!

Spacious rooms, good bed (King), clean and well-equipped. Very little street noise even though its on a busy road. Easy access to Tauranga and local area, walk to local shops. Great hosts, and keen to help.

Very friendly reception. Helpfull with places to eat around cbd. The parking is good for guests and the rooms a very spacious. My bathroom was a great size and the room was also spacious and very clean. I would like to stay again when i am next down for work. Thankyou for the stay....

Great place to stay, even when I have to wait for my lost luggage 😁 The rooms are great and I always stay in the one that has a loft up the stairs. Very clean and love the convenience of going out the back door for a Ciggy haha. Definitely recommend 👍👍

This motel is great! Really friendly, helpful and fun hosts. Nice extra touches, like bath salts in the bathrooms, biscuits with the coffee and tea. Very clean, comfortable and easy to stay at. Highly recommend. Enjoyed my stay very much.

Very rude and disrespectful owner!If you have been known to accidently leave for key in the room I would recommend not to stay here! Never in my life after staying in many motels over the years have I been spoken to like this by the owner! At approximately 11pm I quickly popped out to my car to get something on returning to my room I realised I had left my key in the room so was locked out. Feeling very embarrassed I went to reception which was closed so I preceded to ring the afterhours button, I was not expecting the response I got. The owner popped his head out the window and preceded to abuse me for waking him up. I apologised profusely and kept saying it was a genuine mistake. The abuse continued. For the next 10 minutes I was spoken down to very disrespectfully and condescendingly. I asked the owner what was I supposed to do sleep in the car? His response was yes! I felt so disrespected and angry and did not feel welcome but had no other choice but to stay. If you want to be treated with respect, please don’t stay here. (I will not be surprised if I receive abuse from the owner for making this honest comment)

Clean, comfortable and spacious rooms. Televisions in each bedroom, and in main living space. Well appointed kitchenette. Small pool tucked into the corner of the property.One parking spot per room.Very friendly staff, family run, and it shows. Very welcoming atmosphere.No on-site dinner, but plenty of dining options nearby.

Great location as you are coming off the highway and easily spotted. However located next to busy roads so its hard to get a quiet sleep. Facilities are alright, good shower pressure and friendly motelier to look after you.

This place is amazing! Perfect for a short or long stay in Tauranga. Very nice owner, clean, and easy to find. And I swear my room smelled just like the beach! Very deserving of five stars!

When i arrived at the main office, there service was really good. Considering i was only visiting my nan, they treated me quite politely. The rooms looked like my nan loved it there but needed a bit more space. Therefore, my overall rating wouldve been a 4.5 😊

Really cozy place to stay.Place was clean and was placed well to get into town.Parking was very cramped however at least they had some.Was accused of cooking smells while I was there however didnt cook in our room, they took it back after a long time of us explaining and said it must have been the people next door.Felt that the price was fairly high in comparison to other places in the area and would probably stay somewhere else in the future.

I stayed here a few months ago now and my stay was really comfortable. I arrived late and the hosts were extremely understanding. The room was immaculately clean and the room didn’t require any maintenance. There was a back door to my room with a lovely grassed area which would be a really safe place for the kids to run around or for you to just chill.

We had a lovely comfortable quiet night on our visit. Impeccable cleanliness and wonderful linen on our bed. Would recommend and also stay again. Alison and Michael Morris

The lady who managed the place was very grumpy. We paid a crazy amount of money for bond which was $500 a room and all we were doing was sleeping for one night, she never communicated to us over the phone the price that needed to be on the credit card. We turned up at night and was leaving early morning and she made us wait 3hours before we could get in our rooms for the $500 a room bond. So we left. She kept watching my friends stayed there out her office window and came into the rooms everyday sneaking around. It was clean but the service as awful. Would never go there.

Is there such a thing as no stars?This is by far the worst motel I have rented. Ill be fair. The facilities were really nice. And the spa and the pool was a nice touch. We had a large group, so I can understand the owners having a hard time managing our bookings. However...they should be used to scenarios like this. At every turn, the owners would be condescending and treat us like we were 12. We paid for a room with three beds, which ended up being two for some reason when the owners decided to lock up the fold out couch. So what was a nice comfortable sleep turned to be an experience in solitary confinement for me. I woke up genuinely thinking that I was in a prison. Not very nice guys. Room service was a lesson in how not to do hospitality. I asked the cleaners multiple times to vaccum the room and even after my third attempt the room was still dirty. My next stay in Tauranga will definitely be elsewhere.

Stayed overnight Sunday 13th December.. An excellent choice. VERY clean and tidy. Good showers and facilities we would highly recommend it if visiting Tauranga. It is close to the road so there is road noise but such a great place who cares
