About Thyme Restaurant - Restaurant in Thika, Kenya
Quaint little home converted into a restaurant. Nice to sit in the garden - watch out for the resident Sykes monkeys! Their portions are generous and service faultless 😊
One of my favorite Nairobi restaurants. Super consistent, great service, always a great meal.
Taste and presentation of food exceeded my expectations. The venue was quite peaceful and beautiful, couple with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Loved every minute of my time there.
I enjoyed the food and ambience of this place. The customer service is amazing. Very warm, cordial and receptive. Perfect place to dine with a loved one or even business associates. They take reservations too.
Amazing ambience!Felt great to be back after 5 years. One of the most legit restaurant in Nairobi. Looks and feels like home;Enjoyed Great afternoon and amazing service!BRB!
Great service, superb food, awesome ambience
Ama-zing!!!!! Gourmet gastronomy, nice environment, reasonable prices according to the High-level of the food. Definitely 5 stars
Delicious food in very cosy setting. Excellent service. Highly recommend the Frozen Key Lime Pie (900Kshand the starters to share: Sesame Halloumi Bites for 1600 Ksh and Green Vegetable Salad with Camembert & Almonds for 1450 Ksh. As main course I chose the Marinated grilled king prawns in a Swahili style coconut curry sauce served with ‘kachumbari’ & chapati (2700 Kshwhich had very few prawns and not easy to eat without getting stained by the sauce. Luckily we had combined with starters and dessert to complement. The juice with passion fruit and tree-tomato was delicious as well!
The meal was out of this world...it was splendid"Has a good outdoor ambience too.....
Food was great I liked the tuna.Starters were not that great though
When you’re walking in to About Thyme you might be just a little hesitant that you’re in the right place. Don’t worry it’s way bigger inside than it looks from outside 😂The ambience is stunning with both indoor and outdoor seating. The food is really delicious too although we had to wait quite a bit. They also have really great vegetarian options.
Very nice chill restaurant. Romantic ambience with a rustic touch. A little pricey but worth every penny. I ordered medium rare steak and it was spot on!
My wife and kids were invited for a birthday party on 19th June, 2022.She arrived at 14:00 but it wasnt until at around 15:47 when she was served. The whole time waiters and waitresses were passing her and ignoring her - not bothering to ask what shed like to have. On three occasions, she managed to get someone but theyd all disappear after taking her order. After the event finally started, things didnt change. With two kids, youd expect theyd give her a baby seat, which was not the case. It was Kinya, the birthday girl and Carol, who would help her with kids.Service delivery was also very poor. And the only time that they were excited to offer their service was when they were ushering them out. There were very many "welcome back next time", which I really doubt is going to happen.I could have given them a 1 star rating if it happened to me, but since we are all human and maybe theres distortion of information as madam tells me this, Ill give you a 3/5.Attached are videos to taken the same day as proof. If you care to check you can look at the time stamp.
Amazing ambiance. Great service especially from our waitress Mercy! Loved their samosas and bread so tasty and fresh. The food in general is really tasty. But please book in advance, it gets packed!
With most restaurants, it’s a combination of ambience, service, food and other things that make them stand out. As much as all these are present, the food at About Thyme is truly exceptional. From the portions to the plating and the flavours. I cannot remember the last time I enjoyed a meal that much. The attention to detail and the ease of reservation are definitely a plus. The strawberry cheesecake might be the best thing I’ve ever tasted. I really recommend it. I had the passion dawa which I really enjoyed. I can’t wait to go back and try more cocktails.
I really enjoyed my time here. The staff are warm and fast. The food was tasty and I enjoyed the cocktails. The ambiance was beautiful and soothing. It was definitely a worth-while visit.
A beatiful place with super friendly staff and nice environment. We had some tasty cocktails and good food. And above all, theyre pet friendly which is hard to find in Nairobi. I went there with my small chihuahua and he enjoyed his time as well !
The environment is excellent. Service is great. Food options are great. Prices are fair. I enjoyed the experience there was great. I am definitely going back there. Parking is small but works. It can also get quite cold. Carry warm clothing.
Hands down one of the best places I have dined in, in Nairobi. Theres nothing to not love about this place. The setup is cozy and quiet and very ideal for a romantic dinner. The staff are super friendly and the service was exceptional... (Props to Mercy who served us). The food was really tasty too and the portions were well worth the price. I will definitely patronise the place again and again.
Good food and healthy portions. However they really struggled with service for dinner; it was extremely slow, table we had pre-reserved was not set up and we were left in a waiting area for over 15 minutes until I asked again of the table was ready, simple order of bottle of water was not brought to the table after 10 minutes and I ended up going to the bar myself to get it, there were no printed menus available making it difficult for the group to look at what they could order. Please fix your service, and I believe you will be back to your outstanding rating.
The food was tasty (special mention of the Trio of desserts ☺️), but it was the ambiance and service that was absolutely on point for me. Shout out to Dola for really friendly and attentive service. The red wine sangria was also delicious- it has an amazing cinnamon infusion as well.
Just amazing! The ambience, the service, the Ffffoooooooooodd! Omg, the food you guys!!! The drinks are to die for!!! Love it!!
About Thyme had me at duck spring rolls and sweet potato samosas. I love anything quirky and out of the ordinary and most especially, a creative food menu. This means I have to go back many many times to satisfy my curiosity about the other menu items we didnt to because alas: I only have one stomach if I dont count the dessert pouch. Great staff, would recommend you make a reservation beforehand.
Excellent outside area for dinning, really nice vibe. Good is good
Always a lovely place to come back to, and their menu is a thrill every time. The duck ragu with pumpkin gnocchi, one of their specialties right now, is another success
I kept promising someone I would take her here😁. Lets just say it was worth it.We enjoyed the food, the outdoor seating and the professional service.I recommend it☺️!
Ordered the duck spring rolls and stuffed pork chops. Lovely food and a beautiful restaurant which also provides good service.
Beautiful and serene place. Loved the ambiance. The food was good as well.
I enjoyed having my meal at the outdoor setting. I loved the serenity 🤏😍
Secret garden in the city! A stunning setting for a cosy restaurant, indoor and outdoor seating, both are relaxing and calming, I love the style of this restaurant, especially the garden seating.Service is fantastic, very attentive and attention details are demonstrated in both service and food.Food was great quality, very tasty and a good menu choice. My experience here was very positive and will return.
This place has an amazing outdoor space. The ambience was so lovely and relaxing, perfect for a Sunday afternoon. We also got to enjoy live music - they had someone playing the trumpet. 10/10 for social distancing as well as handwashing stations, hand sanitizer and a thermometer. Definitely coming back!
The place is good for continental cuisine. Some of their dishes are worth trying. Personally I love their Tart preparation. Pricing could be better for certain items
Visited again for the first time since Covid. Wasnt as great as my last visit in terms of the food. Something has changed. The garlic prawns were too lemony, the pepper steak was too peppery. The dessert was absolutely delicious though, I had the one with three different things and it was a perfect end to the meal. Ill be sure to visit again hoping that the food gets better and reminds me of how it used to be.
About Thyme is always a favourite spot of mine for date nights and relaxed afternoons with friends. I highly recommend it to everyone looking for amazing food, a great ambience and great service!
Nicely tucked in a serene environment. That’s one thing I loved about this place. The staff was very friendly. I believe they have walk-in services but we booked in advance, which sounds like a good management in this time. The online booking wasn’t a pain. The food is where I wasn’t all that impressed. First, the breakfast we ordered had mushrooms, where the mushrooms portion was way more compared to other portions. The tea Masala was also so bland, like the milk is too diluted with little to no masala spices. However, I loved the salted caramel crepes, hibiscus tea and most of all, the DAWA. I think theirs is the best dawa I’ve had so far!
Organized a surprise birthday for my best friend and they pulled it out so well. The Jazz session was amazing, Mercy, our attendant was so kind and calm. We loved the ambience, serenity and the cleanliness.
Great service 💯Realized I am not a fan of these unpeeled potatoes though!
Food didnt live up to the expectations plus the waiter felt saleish trying to get us to order more food.
Excellent customer service and amazing food. Booked a table for my sisters graduation party and it went so well as everything was well planned and prepared.Thank you guys.Definitely coming back again
The staff is professional and friendly. We were seated immediately we showed up despite not having a reservation. It is important to reserve a table at this restaurant. The breakfast menu had good options that were both delicious and filling. The location of the restaurant is great as well.
The place is lush. Its like ur in the middle of the forest. Beeeautiful - soooo close to nature. The service was not that good. I sat outside just before the last floor. & 1ce i was ready to order i had to wait for someone to come down again for me to signal them & my sugar was very low.I was served by 2 ladies. One was tripping over one of the foreign guests, she would come, serve him & leave & not check in with me yet she was dealing with me originally. I hope the tip was worth it!!!The other was better. She was attentive. She took her time. I told one of them to ensure they swap so there is always someone there in case of anything. They heeded for a while then got tired. Later came back seemed to work well for the other guests. They would even come & ask "are u okay"? Now THAT is service!!!I think clients should have little 🔔s. Its tricky to call a server. Food for thought for restaurants.Food was 2,000/- excluding drinks. Wouldnt say i was impressed. Not even sure the chops were cooked well but it had taken a while, covid times were catching up yeah.Asked for extra rice i was told 400/-. I think my reaction said it all. Luckily got it for free. Maybe they portion food a little starch, veges & protein same amount (perhaps?!).They need more options of fish, chicken, maybe they could add stir frys something.Their prices can drop to 1,500/- Im sure. Look into itThey could work on their shakes & smoothies, no variety. Thought they were serving cocktails coz apparently they are allowed but they were not and even that list seemed limited. The Berry smash mocktail was okay. Ive definitely had better. Not sure if this is where i had a paper straw. If so, change to plastic. It kept tearing/unravellingLike that they have hot rolls so u dont have to use the washing points which are everywhere.I dont know. For those not driving, make sure u leave by 1800hrs coz u have to treck to the stage or prepare to take a cab.For those driving theres some parking
Good food even though the portion were un-African 😂. The staff were friendly and we were lucky to go on a day when they were hosting live jazz saxophonist. Epic!
The place is fantastic, nice colonial residential turned restaurant. Mature garden and beautiful settings. I have had breakfast, branch but never had dinner until few days ago. In one word disappointing. They had towels in the toilet but gave us paper tissues on table. At 85 dollars I could have gone to Tailsman and be treated like royalty, or Sankara where the saltshakers are Peugeot at the same price. I came there for atmosphere only to be treat like an intruder. Later as we were leaving I released it’s only us who never got the napkins. They were there in every table dark blue. I even took a photo in case someone thinks I made this up.The tables are terrible designed if you are a woman better wear trouser. The table legs are right in the middle so if you come close to eat your food you must spread your legs apart or place them on one side as if having coffee or relaxing. The is no other way. Will not be doing it soon, I would advice my african brothers and sister if you want to be treated with dignity in your own country; stick with place they respect they clientele.
Great food! Great service! Great ambience! Food portion for one of us was however small for the filled chicken with mashed potatoes. We were able to get fries on the side. The rest of us ordered pork ribs and a burger. The portions were ideal and we got to carry left overs even.
Absolutely incredible ambience and even better food. Very mild hiccups with service (drinks took a bit long to arrivebut really great great great food! The owner is really friendly and welcoming too 😊
The food is really good and the portions are generous ordered starters and main meal. We were too stuffed to order for dessert. The wait staff is extra friendly and they are patient enough to help with menu selections
Thyme is a fantastic restaurant in a Serene environment. Reserve a table and have a fantastic meal. Their staff is extremely friendly and helpful if need be. Their food was fresh and the variety if food open was wide. It serves great drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic therefore youre covered depending on your entourage.
Its a small eatery in westlands just past Westgate mall. A bit hidden but can still be located. The bigger part of the place is an outdoor setting good background music not too loud not too soft just the right pitch. The staff is very warm, friendly and social they check up on you now and then to ensure youre okay and enjoying your meal. The food is very filling very tasty and worth your money I loved their potions very generous. Make a point of stopping by About Thyme anytime you find yourself in westlands and try their food out. Personally I loved it the entire experience.
Great ambience. Good food portions but the food wasnt as expected. Also was displeased with the attendant who served us. The meal took an hour and was cold when served. We were disappointed with the service.
Serene place secluded from the hustle of Nairobi. The food was tasty and didnt take too long to prepare. We had a birthday here so its also great for larger groups. Service was also up to par
