Storied aquarium with a cafe featuring a walk-through underwater tunnel & interactive touch pool.
Marine fun for kids and adults, this mini aquarium is cutely designed within a small area but larger beauty for visitors. You dont feel the small architecture as its merged nicely with beautiful ocean next to it. Was not so busy it being a week day when we visited. Has got a very cute WA coral library display which I have never seen anywhere in Australia. Also you could enjoy a light meal in the cafe next to the scenic ocean view. Highly recommended for people in WA, must visit aquarium. Plenty of free parking and entrance tickets from 32AUD, kids under 3 enter free.
I went to Aqwa on Sunday, Oct 21st and did the behind the scene tour. I really enjoyed it! Heres why… our tour guide Lisa was very nice and showed us some cool and interesting things. After the tour, Lisa and another guide continued to share fascinating facts. Lisa was most likely one of the nicest staff I met there. I rate theexperience a 9/10 stars.I think if it were more interactive with the creatures I would rate it 10/10. I recommend doing this tour.
I enjoyed the snorkeling with the sharks, especially with the bird’s view on the giant smooth stingrays, sharks and other fishes!
Great aquarium for a family/couple hangout. Love that all of their exhibitions have actual living coral in them — this is something that I havent seen before in other aquariums I went to. They also have a living bank of coral there. Took the glass boat as well — it was quite a unique and fun experience. Fish & Chips lunch at their cafe is ok.
Amazing set up. Last time I was here I was a child in the 1990s.
Not a cheap place for a family of 4. Great experience for the whole family.Downside, the cafe kitchen closes at 2pm with no notice of this until you reach the end of your walkthrough, so disappointed with that. I feel they should explain that upon entrance.
First time there is was so nice looking at fish under the water tank
The Aquarium Of Western Australia is a great attraction for everyone especially for families with children. AQWA is the 10th largest aquarium in the world and has the largest single aquarium and walk-through underwater tunnel also known as the Shipwreck Coast in Australia. There is a great variety of aquatic animals, including sharks, different species of rays, octopus, jellyfish, huge turtles, crabs and many more amazing sea creatures. It is definitely worth a visit!
A well set out viewing center for all things ocean. Information at displaces is informative and of ease to read. Gift shop very well stocked and pleasant staff. The tunnel is an awesome experience.
We spend quite a few delightful hours at AQWA. The aquatic displays are amazing, and its really interesting to see all the different sections that one get in the ocean. The underwater tunnel was fascinating, especially seeing the sharks and giant stingrays swimming above or next to you. Theres lots to do for kids, food at the restaurant is good, and the gift shop has a huge array of beautiful gifts and toys.
$32 for an adult and $19 per child for what is now quite an old aquarium is a bit of a rip off. Nice to see our coastline showcased but AQWA needs a much larger facility and offer much better value for money. I was in and out in around 30 minutes.
Great place to take the kids or adults for that fact. Amazing different species of the under water world. Fantastic that you can experience a swim with the sharks if your game enough to. Absolutely loved that you could scan your colouring in picture in the kids section and whatever you coloured would pop out onto a screen with the colours you used.A little expensive however great visit.
Used be amazing years ago when they had the seal shows, now its quite boring and nothing new has been there for years! The staff are nice but this place really needs something new to bring the place back to life!
From Fish to Sharks to Stingray you can see them all from standing still on the conveyer belt as it takes you and the family around the massive aquarium, with Fish, Sharks and Raes swimming to the left, right and above you as well.
Just took the behind the scenes tour. Lisa, the tour guide in training was absolutely amazing and informative. She brought an attitude and atmosphere that made me excited to learn.
Besides some screaming children- not to be helped by the aquarium- this was a very enjoyable experience! Cafe staff could maybe be a bit friendlier, but all other staff were polite and welcoming. The conveyor belt through the aquarium tunnel is a great idea!
Great place for the family and children to explore! Its not massively big so two hours top to really experience everything they have to offer. It has interactive areas for the children, a touch pool and quiet areas. And after it is all done being close to hillarys board walk is a bonus to take the kids down to the park or go grab an ice cream.Ample parking but sometimes if its busy you have to park a bit away. Can get cold being right next to the ocean too.
Fan-bloody-tastic.Went here with my 16 month old girl she loved every second of it.I havent been since I was 5 and it still has the same majesty as it did back thenPricing is incredibly reasonable from entry to food court to gift shop.Loved every second of my time here and will likely become an annual visit.
I love this Aquarium. All the tanks are decorated beautifully or in the best way for the animals. The fish look amazing and there are so many things to see and do. Its a great place to bring children.
Overall we enjoy our trips there. I do wish that they would consider getting like a portable pedestal that the toddlers can be in.. probably rent it out or something for maintenance and upkeep. something like those kitchen towers thats quite popular at the moment... especially when were in the tunnel...we dont have to be carrying them the whole time.. sometimes with prams its not high enough for the toddlers to see..so you end up just picking them up anyways...which can be tiring when they are very heavy..
AQWA is a great aquarium. Amazing sea life with very realistic looking enclosures. My 4 and 8 year old daughters absolutely loved it.
It was just amazing !! Dive Master Brad explained everything perfectly. I knew this experience would be good, it was the best !! Thank you thank you, will be back to do again, when the water is warmer😁 highly recommend
Worth the visit. Each time has improved. Very impressive aquarium.
Loved the deep sea section (met the sharks and stingrays upclose without having to go into the water). Another highlight is, I saw Nemo the clownfish.
Im going to be honest with you, there isnt much difference between going here in person and watching a video of this place, way less people as well. Didnt take photos only videos.Pretty basic $30 for adults, would only recommend for kids
The Aquarium of Western Australia is a must visit venue for anyone who loves animals and the sea. The venue has plenty of parking nearby and although there are steps to the main entrance there is also a ramp for access. I always enjoy visiting here, there are so many animals to see, with my personal favourites being the underwater tunnel and the touch pool. Educational and fun for kids and adults alike. I cant recommend AQWA enough.
We went to AQWA last Sunday to celebrate my birthday with my granddaughter Élodie...she enjoyed it very much and was playful during the whole experience...
Great place, small but interactive.
Wow... trip down memory lane! Came here 21 years ago and loved it then and now we have bought our Grandsons 2/12yrs and 5yrs. Wonderful day... great fun had by all!!
Great place to take the grandkids & keep them entertained while learning along the way
An absolutely amazing aquarium. Very interactive for the kids, we have also visited AQWA during there Halloween nights (the kids loved it).Definitely one of the best aquariums around and will keep coming back to see new displays.
Nice , kids had so much fun looking at sharks and touching a few fishes outside as well.
I have been to AQWA a number of times over the years, and most recently took my son last week. He absolutely loved it, and was bouncing between exhibits, but particularly loved the touch pool and the underwater tunnel. However as an adult, I feel that it is a very expensive outing, particularly given that the place really hasnt changed much at all in years. It feels a little rundown and always seems the same each time I visit. The enclosures are generally well maintained, clean and the critters all seem healthy. I take my sons as they love it, so I do recommend a visit as the kids always seem to enjoy it.
Snorkelling with the Sharks.Dive Master Gordon was amazing and made the experience so much better.Highly recommend the snorkel adventure to anyone
best thing iv ever done, if you come here , you must swim with the sharks. AMANZING. to be so close to these massive creatures is just mind blowing and gives you a new appreciation for them.
Hillary has been a lot, but here the first time in three years. Various fish and sharks, turtles, sea horses, jellyfish, starfish and a touch experience that can be a good time.
Was really cool. Great set up and a large variety of sea life. Loved the interactive outside pool and the tunnel. Staff are wonderful. A couple of areas are under construction. Only issue is its quite expensive as a family outing.
AQWA showcases a wide range of aquatic life from around Western Australia with a focus on reefs but with a selection of freshwater exhibits too.It is a great experience for adults and older children with an interest in marine life while providing a number of options for young children too (touch pool, play room, ship playground).Would probably avoid during holidays if you dont like crowds as some areas definitely become congested.
First time visiting again in over 10 years. Lovely staff, easy entry and directions/signage.$30 per adult entry which was well worth the several hours we happily spent here. The entire Australian coast is covered with an epic conveyed belt underwater tunnel showcasing sharks, rays, fish and a turtle.Photos and videos do the real thing no justice of course as its incredible to read all the facts and interesting things to learn about our marine world. On site Cafe with ple ty of food, ice-cream and coffee options (plus gluten free optionsbefore hitting the outdoor attractions. The deck and turtle rescue plus touch pool are all awesome parts of this facility, assuming that they do no harm to the animals, the only downside is the children who run around unsupervised (theres always somewhich should be policed a bit more for everyones enjoyment but cant fault the facility and offering.Perth should be proud to have the 10th biggest aquarium in the world and a great one at that.
Small collection but nicely presented. Some rare ones. There is a small rotation to see stingrays and sharks which is nice. There is a touch pool upstairs with star fish for the curious little ones.
10/10 NEEDED MY VAC CERT TO GET IN . THE LADY WAS SO LOVELY AND LET ME TAKE MY TIME IN FINDING IT ON MY PHONE DEFINELY A PLACE TO TAKE KIDS ID YOU TRAVEL TO WA EVEN IF THEY ARE OVER 18
Great fun at AQWA. Our 4 year old loves it. I recommend getting the annual membership. AQWA is great for 1-2hr visit, and with an annual membership you can go back and not feel you arent getting your moneys worth. Cafe is great for an icecream.
Very much enjoyed our visit, especially the shark tunnel (with lots of rays and a turtle pr two as well). The touch pool was unfortunately closed so didnt get chance for our son to touch the star fish, etc, which he had been looking forward to.
Shark Dive!Popular at the moment so bookings are well into the future. No need to bring anything as all gear us supplied (I still prefer my own wetsuit and mask so I did bring my own). Dive Master was great. Very friendly and knowledgeable. The Dive is a follow the leader single file set route around the tank. Water temp was 22 degrees. Max depth was 4.5m. This Dive requires you to be negatively buoyant as you spend all of your time on the bottom and stationary for extended periods. This was fun and offers a different Dive experience. Bottom time was about 40 minutes however with briefing, kitting up, Dive and dekitting it took about two hours.Of course diving qualifications are checked prior to commencing. This is a world recognised Dive for logging purposes.
Well worth going to see especially on the school holidays in January. Plenty to see a little too busy with kids though but they have a pirate and mermaid show that they put on which was interesting
We took our two grandsons here for a birthday treat (1st & 3rdand they both absolutely loved it.The aquarium is beautifully set out with lots of little tanks, with a small fact & information sign next to each.Theres an open tank where children can touch the fish and starfish. The showstopper is a massive tank with a long tunnel underneath, where stingray and sharks swim over your head. The whole thing is incredibly well done and Id love a return visit.
Always a fantastic experience! Well managed, clean, great exhibitions, and the cafe food is up there with the quality of the best fish and chip shops around.
I rate AQWA 4.5 stars. Was a really great day out.We had lunch at the Cafe and the fish and chips were very tasty.Great for all ages, there are steps in front of most tanks so little ones can stand on and still see everything. The touch and feel area outside the Cafe was fantastic, we could touch startfish port Jackson sharks and much more.I recommend a minimum of 3 hrs as there is so much to see and so.
Its always a great place to take the kids, plenty to see and is suitable for any age. I love the kids art corner so they can unwind and colour in. The food is delicious and the portion sizes are huge. It could do with some updates but overall a very enjoyable experience.
This one truly not to be missed POI when you visit perth. My kiddo travelled 10600 miles to see irukandji jelly fish but this not available at this great aquarium. Staff was not helpful nor have idea about this jelly fish. Overall great experience every time we visit.
