Traditional Japanese dishes served in a simple, elegant restaurant with a shady terrace.
Very high quality Japanese restaurant (best in Amsterdam).Great sushi, gyozas, chicken katsu, and homemade ice-cream. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is very welcoming and cozy.Reserve in advance as there is limited space.
Amazing place and service
Visited on a friday evening. Make sure to book at least a week in advance as this restaurant is quite small and theres practically no walk in tables available as its very busy and everyone makes a reservation.we ordered the omakase menu, the mixed sashimi/seafood bowl, season special fish (i forgot which fishtempura and a ice cream. The tempura was very nice. crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. My boyfriend had the sashimi bowl and he enjoyed it very well.I had the omakase and it was nice. The karage was fried really nicely and the side dishes were good. The only disaappinting bits were the salmon and the brocolli side. the broccoli was just boiled and maybe had some sesame oil on it; the salmon was VERY salty. Not sure if it was the salmon itself or the teriyaki sauce but it was VERY salty.I got the calpis ice cream and that was nice. tasted like calpis.
Wow, loves the food and service. Will come back here again!
I enjoyed genuine Japanese meal with reasonable price.
Very cozy and tasty. Will definitely visit again.
Fantastic, fresh and homely food that is well worth the price! Staff were exceptional and very caring throughout our visit, definitely went above and beyond to look after us
A happy surprise from this unassuming spot! Delicious miso soup, extraordinary gyoza (so light and crispy), excellent sushi. I recommend a visit!
The moment that gyoza entered my mouth, my soul exited my body and I felt the meaning of the universe. Nice cozy atmosphere, feels like home cooked Japanese food. Well be back
Absolutely amazing! The gyoza is one of the best I have ever had. Delicious filing and super thin crust. The chicken katsu has a really good portion size, had this with an extra rice bowl.My partner had a salmon teriaky, ebi tempura and a miso soup.
Small, cozy, great sushi, handmade, different than all you can eat style. I took one menu, only fish. It was good. The pickles and veggies coming along with the fish are very small and too simple. It feels like you pay 28 EUR only for the fish. But miso soup and rice at least were included and miso soup was tasty. We also had ice cream, pumpkin and sesame. It was good too. Beers are nice, there is a small Japanese selectio, I liked the ipa style. Price of the beer was honest. Overall a bit pricy and limited menu. But its ok to try once.
A hidden gem with authentic Japanese food. Great service and ambience, highly recommended!
Really good sushi! (so much better than the all you can eat sushi restaurants)Green tea ice cream was also really tasty
Very cozy environment, food is authentic and delicious, service is fantastic!
This is my favorite Japanese restaurant in the city. Itβs an absolute hidden gem. Its intimate, unpretentious and the food is authentic. I really enjoyed the sushi and my partner ordered the omakase and karaage. All absolute winners. The service was also incredibly friendly and attentive as an owner run restaurant.
Lovely, homely Japanese restaurant. The owners work front of house and are sweethearts and always happy to chat. The omakase is a solid choice - as is the karaage and potato salad. My partner was really satisfied with the quality of the sushi too.
Wow, this is authentic Japanese. π great food, service and atmosphere - a must fo if you are in Amsterdam
The best of Japanese cuisine! It was wonderful to be able to go with friends because we were able to try a variety of the dishes. Each one was spectacular but the agedashi tofu was my favourite, while my friends said that the sushi and scallop salad was one of the best theyve ever had.
Good food, not so good service.
Really delicious food - I got the omakase, and itβs really good value for such good quality food. Lovely, friendly service too! I definitely plan to return.
Eating here for 13 years! By far it is the best sushi in town. Always the highest quality sashimi! Also try the Ebi Tempura!
Authentic Japanese cuisine, thoughtfully prepared. I always enjoy my experiences with Restaurant AN. Fresh ingredients and friendly staff can always be found here.
Due to Covid, take away was the only option. The nigiri sushi rice was a little stiff not sure why, though the maki were alright. I guess I should give a try again once the restaurant reopen for dine-in.
The food is amazing!! I enjoyed every single bite and ordered three salmon rolls because theyre so good! Its a place I go to every now and then for a special occasion, and its perfect every time. Nice place with lots of Japanese culture, friendly people and, again, amazing food!
Authentic Japanese restaurant, excellent food.
Always the best Japanese food experience π
Had a lovely time there, they helped to make a birthday great with their food and service!
The best tenpura in Europe but the price is actually so expensive..
Only a couple of nice dishes were nice - the rest is very bad including the dumplings, miso eggplant, even plain rice. Very slow service.
Nice food but waited too long. We were told before hand we need to leave by 8pm but the main dish took a long time to be served which is weird because the other table ordered the same type as us which by the way were standard dishes that others also ordered. Worse I dont like that the waitress then said we can still finish within 15mins else we moved to the bar. Why do I have to rushed to eat when they are slow in giving me the food? Anyway they are popular so my comments wouldnt matter.
Very tasty and authentic traditional Japanese food. We ordered Omakase, which took a bit too long to be prepared, but it was not a problem because the place has a cozy atmosphere.
Sushi and fried tofu is amazing
Fantastic! If youβre looking for an authentic Japanese experience, this is your place.
Hidden gem π. Best sushi in town, local and athunetic. fresh and delicious food and very nice staff.
Finally I found a place that is 100% authentic Japanese where I can get genuine Japanese home made meals. The couple who runs the place made me and my boy friend feel like at home. This is exactly what I needed, not typical βJapaneseβ places where serve only sushi or ramen or teppan stuff. I feel these real Japanese dishes cooked every day at home in Japan should be focused more than sushi etc which we dont really eat that much back home in Japan.
amazing food reallysweet and fast service, fresh fish and delicious overall meal, light and rejuvenating
A little tucked away restaurant with real Japanese food. Lovely interior. Lovely detail: the chef created all the teacups, chopstick holders and a lot of the pottery himself. They look amazing! We chose the Omakase and told them to surprise us. Just look at photos, the food tastes as delicious as it looks! Great value as well, only 26 euros each.Lovely service, we will definitely visit again!
Kind staffing and amazing food.
Extremely poor service and rude staff. The waitress lied about there being no seats, and asked the customers next to the seats if it was okay for me to sit down. I only ordered three dishes and this took about 3 hours. No reason or apologies for the delays were given. Would not reccommend whatsoever.
Love their chirashi. Always fresh and the portion generous.
VERY slow service (in a half-empty restaurant!). Had to ask for menu a few times, then waited for food over 1 hour (last dish was brought after 1,5 hrs of waiting!- not sure how they write down your choices, but instead of half of the dishes for 10 people they brought a different thing.. Had to ask for spoons, etc. They tried to include the extra dishes (which were cooked by mistake!into the bill.. Bank cards not accepted.
The best japanese restaurant in amsterdam
Amazing Japanese (realcuisine. Super nice service. Also take away.
love this place & the people, have been coming here for years. charming service.
I have been going to this restaurant for years. Very understated atmosphere that produces high quality Japanese food. Highly recommend!
One of the best Japanese restaurants in Amsterdam if not the best. They are small but they have been established and in business for many years.Always a pleasure to eat here
Best budget-friendly Japanse restaurant in Amsterdam.
Easy going atmosphere, very nice Japanese food.
Nowadays you find sushi restaurants on almost every corner of the streets of Amsterdam, but this is one of the first ones. And a good one too! Not a cheap one though. Lets hope they can keep up with the cheaper competition and maintain the quality restaurant they always were.
This is our most favorite restaurant in Amsterdam, we come here for years, every time we have something to celebrate. Fresh food with delightful and surprising tastes. Classic Japanese food with a creative touch. Highly recommended.
