AMALFI MADRE - Italian restaurant in Vatican City, Vatican City
Very bas service, plus they cover 2e per person for it, and pizza vas too oily.
Do not go there! The food was good but it took them more than 45 minutes to cook a simple pasta dish. When my dining partner asked for vinegar, she got more oil. Awful service.
The pizzas are very solid. The service is a bit lackluster, one of the waiters was very nice and polite. The other two not so much.
The food was very oily and i guess they use the same oil 1000 times before they change it! The waiters were very rude and not prefessional at all. And they charge you at least 4 euros more than your meal 🤷🏻♂️ tip not included! If you want to enjoy your meal then keep away from this restaurant. There are many other options, in the same place, where the restaurant is.
Very rude stuffs and the food was not that good! And they add 8 euros or more illegally to your bill " tip not included" and when i asked the waiter, why should i pay 8 euros more , his answer was " this is the bill and you have to pay it "Never ever again!
Very bad restaurant, the waiters are very rude and unprofessional and the Food was really bad! There are many other much better options in the place, where the restaurant is, so if you want to enjoy a nice meal with fair price keep away from this restaurant!
Fried pizza bread and bruschetta starters were delicious. The Fettuccini Amalfi was so so good. And the chicken steak was a great choice for a light meal in a hot day. Would definitely revisit!
A quieter sister restaurant to the location across the street. The food was better than average (but not incredibleand their wine list, while not large, has some nice and affordable bottles. We preferred the cacio e pepe to the pizzas, and found the fried calamari to be the best dish we tried.
Really yummi Pasta!
Very fine place with an excelent food quality, on top of that, prices are great
Our family of 6 ate here tonight. The pizza was good. The prices seemed fair. But then our bill came and the restaurant had tacked on a coperato, or cover charge of 9 euros for the table, which was more expensive than some of our meals. Those are banned in Rome. The place is close to the Vatican. They probably get a lot of tourists and think they can take advantage. Were living here for several months. Weve eaten at lots of restaurants. NONE have charged a coperato. When we asked the waiter to remove the charge because its illegal, he refused. He pointed to tiny print at the bottom of the menu, near the edge of the paper, that said there was a 2 euros service charge per table and a 2 euros charge for each addition or variation to the menu items. None of us made any alterations to our orders. So if the 2 euros table cover charge was legal (and its not in Rome), the charge shouldve been only 2 euros, not 9 euros. The owner/manager came out and he refused to remove the charge. No one could explain how they came up with a 9 euros cover charge. We wont eat here again. We dont like going to restaurants that surprise you with extra charges for no explainable reason and then refuse to do the right thing when theyre caught.
Superb! This restaurant has become our go-to pizzeria to visit whenever were in Rome.Would definitely recommend.
An amazing place. Good pasta and pizza. Tiramisù Is delicious
Absolutely amazing tonnarelli alla carbonara. Best pasta I’ve had in my life, I would have had a second plate if my stomach allowed me! The octopus potato salad starter was also very good. Definitely coming back the next time I’m in Rome!
Great service, atmosphere, excellent olives and cocktail. Pizza 4 formaggio unfortunately to fat and surprisingly with added bacon that was not indicated in the menu spoiling my vegetarian impression.
Tasty steak and also delicious Bruschetta and professional staff
Best pizza I have ever had 👌 lovely staff and great wine. Easy to orders vegan option even though its not on the menu. Staff are very accommodating of needs.
We went to this restaurant on our first day in Rome so we had a little to compare it with, but as the trip progressed, we became certain that it was , in fact, AMAZING. Aside from the friendly waiter and the awesome pizzaiolo who came to check if we liked the pizza, the food itself is tasty. The homemade pasta has a great texture and the sauce is smooth and shiny, however the portion size is quite small, but thats a roman thing, apparently. The pizza was just great. That was the description a friend came up with.We would certainly come back before we leave.
Amazing food, really good value for money, big portion sizes, could probably share a pizza between 2. The fried pizza starter is incredible and only €2. My partner also said they make the best coffee he has ever had.
Nice, romamtic place, beautiful view, delicious food, decent prices
Everything was excellent, we had pasta, pizza, salad, and dessert. The red house wine was very good.
I would totally recommend this restaurant, delicious pizza (and coffee!in a reasonable price! We were serviced by amiable waiter Sergio who spoke English perfectly. Im coming back here as soon as I can!
This place was recommended by our Vatican City tour guide and it did not disappoint! Authentic, fresh and full of flavour! Highly recommend!
The food was phenomenal, probably the best out of all the places we ate in Italy. They had great service and treat you like family. The tiramisu was amazing too!
Food and service is decent, but not happy about the two separate charges for "service" fees. Looks like a 1.50 euro per person table fee and a 2.50 euro per person service tax charged to our bill. Just be awared that you are being charged 30% tips already..
My family and I ate at Amalfi tonight in Rome, and we all raved about the exceptional service and superb meal. We ordered several dishes including the lasagna, gnocchi, chicken, and "flower" zucchini appetizer. WE LOVED EVERYTHING! Sadly, I dont remember our waiters name (which I regretbut he deserves a special shoutout. He made great recommendations, was patient, and became fast friends with my niece. If theres time well definitely return!
The best seafood pasta we had in Rome , really nice sauce and the seafood is very fresh. Bacon is yummy too! Would love to go back again!! Supper delicious and the service was great.
I came here twice on my very limited trip to Rome. I couldnt leave without coming again. Delicious food
Such a great place to eat. The pizza was amazing, cooked in a wood fire oven, and the overall atmosphere was warm and comforting. The waiter was so sweet and helpful he even had us try their house wine which was a dry white wine that was so delicious. Will for sure come back again!
We wanted a pizza and we were not disappointed ! It was very good and our waiter was kind and pleasant... even when a very rude customer came in and took a table without a "hello" ! He knows his job and remains profesional.
Fantastic pizza, from a real wood fired oven. Staff were excellent and the prices were very good.
Skip it, keep walking to a better place. Honestly very disappointing after reading review of how great the place and service was. Waited to be seated only to be told to go sit, then to stop because we had to be seated by the waiter who happened to ignore us twice as we waited at the front with very rude manners. Sat down and waited 10 minutes to have our order taken. Three of us ordered only I got my food and it was like warm ravioli, my two other friends waited 25 minutes when tables after us got served their pizza. Not to mention my ravioli was meh. The rating is for food taste and disappointing service.
Excellent food , the pizza is so great . I wish my mouth was bigger. The prices are good , the waiters polite and kind ,its s close to the Vatican , you MUST eat here. The pizza is baked on a traditional oven (wood ). The atmosphere its also great.
We stumbled across this restaurant on our first day. Because of traveling we hadnt had any lunch and it was now 5pm. This place caught our eye because of the wood oven fire right at the entrance. We were starving and ordered the three man pizza for two of us. There is also a two man pizza, they are both the same size just different number of toppings. The service was quick and the staff were lovely!I cant stress just how amazing this pizza was! On our second night we went somewhere else only to be majorly disappointed, so ended up going back the 3rd night.Prices are fantastic too... the 3 man pizza was €22 the 2 man €16. That is bargain price when the quality is as amazing as it was!We will be going back here tomorrow as nowhere else can live up to it!
Great place for pizza! Staff is very nice and friendly.. pasta was good. didn’t like the salad.
Been here 10 days and all over the country; Best pizza dough weve had in Italy so far.
Food absolutely amazing. Beautiful ravioli and Calzone. All courses really tasty. I have marked 1 less star as the waiter service didnt seem so attentive. Our water wasnt poured and we were left alone. Food amazing though ❤️
Best pasta place in Rome, and very near to Vatican city. Should not mis Tiramisu..
Me and my wife tried only pizza and we really enjoyed it. The place inside is very nice and cozy and plenty of space between the tables. The waitress were very serious and professional; didnt speak much English but had no problem getting things ordered. What I liked about them is that they didnt come to us every minute asking if everything is fine; sth. we found in many other restaurants in Rome. It wasnt that crowded when we came so they brought us food after 10-15 minutes which was quick. Would come back again!
Great food, more similar to American-style (thicker crust, so its more filling), yet Italian-Amalfi style, so its also great quality and very delicious! What caught the corner of my eye was the pizza in a walk-in style, but I was surprised and impressed when I walked in to find a very elegant dining room and atmosphere as well. For those who would like to dine-in, it is spacious, with plenty of room.Staff are friendly. Prices are reasonable and fair!
Margarita and pork mozzarella potato pizza! Was a little shocked to see fries on the pizza. Saves cutting potatoes!
This restaurante has the best pasta with seafood Ive ever eaten! The prices are really cheap for the quality and the staff is nice..
Poor service, and they charge you $3 for the pleasure, asked for a refill of tap water, and they said they didnt have any, only bottled. Food is decent, but nothing to write home about.
Large pizzas and fair prices! Would recommend enjoying a meal here after your visit at the Vatican city!
Okay quality food, nothing spectacular. Open late (past 11 pmso thats a big bonus!Pizza was huge but didnt have much apart from cheese and one basil leaf. :)
My pasta carbonara was quite rich and delicious. We started with an order of brushetta (tomato & mozzarellathat was good. Service was OK but not too attentive, especially for the small number of customers at the time. However, with the good food and ample options I would recommend it.
Great food, friendly service, affordable prices. And even better pizzas. XL size for sharing! Perfect spot to relax after a hectic day at the Vatican Museums.
Food not bad and depending of the hours its not crowd. Its near the Vatican city. The staff are friendly and the food is good. Pizza done on a wood oven and ate tasty.
Pizza was good (Lucifero), the salad not so much (Meditterano), because its dressing was basically ketchup and mayonnaise mixed together and the ingredients taken from cans. Since its a Pizzaria, 3 stars for being avarage.
Average resaturant. Pizza was totally delicious. Good staff and comfy atmosphere. Take a bit longer to serve and close too early.
