Southern-inspired fare, cocktails & live music offered in this popular indoor/outdoor eatery.
We had our Christmas party this year and it was by far nothing short of AMAZING!! The staff were all so helpful and quick to respond to any changes we had to make. We also had them cater our entire party and the food was unbelievable. We highly recommend hosting any event big or small with them, you will not regret it. We will definitely be back!
This place is absolutely amazing. They were so busy and we didnt have a reservation. After talking with the patient lady at the hostess kiosk, we knew it would be a long wait but it smelled so good in there we wanted to give it a go. We did wait quite a while but were seated in the train car. A gentleman with dreadlocks helped us order and took care of our table. He was absolutely amazing, kind, courteous, and kept his cool under the pressure of them being so busy and understaffed. The food was excellent and the atmosphere alone was worth the wait. The staff took such good care of us and were apologetic every step of the way for the long wait times. We will definitely be back!
Great place for drinks and live music! The ambience is warm and cheery, especially with a live band playing. I would give it 5 stars if the food was better. The menu is typical American bar fare, which can be great in some cases if done well, but I felt the food quality here was low. Very greasy and starchy. Also, we had a vegetarian with us and the menu has no vegetarian options except for sides. Still, in terms of drinks, ambience, and music, I would highly recommend AM Booths Lumberyard. And I will definitely go back again!
Very stuff bar scene, converted for brunch. Wait staff favorite excuse was, "I normally work nights." The wrong answer. Wont be back, not worth the price.
Really great music venue, bar and restaurant. We thought these were the BEST fries in HSV. They have Pinot Grigio from ITALY 🇮🇹!!! Yay - also full bar and fun open mic nights too.Fun staff and great service - will definitely be coming back. The love yard too in the summer.
The atmosphere is nice and the staff was friendly. But the food was awful. Our party had three Brisket orders and all where just slices of burnt fat with no meat. The one steak order was for medium and came out well done. Burger order was not correct and the replacement was raw in the middle. The mac-n-cheese was very grainy. And was not clear that mix vegetables was a Cole slaw blend without dressing.I dont write this with pleasure but it is not without insight. My husband is a certified master chef and I have almost 20 years experience as a full service cook. It seems that a adjustment to the menu so that the kitchen staff can execute it constantly is needed.I hope that this does not reoccur as I really enjoyed the overall look of this establishment. Just need some staff with more experience.
Great comfy off the beaten path place. Inexpensive brunch. I like to take out of town guests here.
They have a neat outdoor space as well as a large bar area with extra-high ceilings & room for a band. Friendly staff & timely service, from my experiences. Also they have a large parking lot, which close to downtown is especially nice.
Such a great venue. A diversity of rooms and outdoor areas to host any small event or gathering. The drinks and food offerings are top notch. The staff are friendly and helpful. I love what people have being doing to the abandon areas in our citys.
Beautiful restaurant/ meeting spaces! The decor is amazing! You just have to go see it for yourself!
Cool outside area. Brisket was good. Poor service-- although it was not a busy night, very slow to get food out to our group and did not fill our small cups of drinks often. The person that we were celebrating, her food came much later than everyone elses and was not even the correct item.
This place is kind of small on the inside. So, if you are going to see a band, you should get there early if you want one of their few tables inside. The bartenders are nice and make pretty good drinks. The food is okay... it’s bar food so, you get what you expect. The staff are really nice, though. So, if you’re just going for a few drinks, this is a good place to go. If you’re going for dinner and/or to see a band... you might be disappointed.
Pretty cute place. The blue train is definitely interesting place to dine in. Food is good. I ordered Falafel Burger without the tzatziki sauce. Service is decent. Its probably better to go for dinner.
Love this place! Jake made me a perfect drink. Great vibes and music as well. Its like an adventure while there, since there are several bars inside and outside with more than enough choices to sit somewhere. Will be back!
This review is written after our third visit to the restaurant. Our first time there, with four of us dining, was a very pleasant experience with good food and good service in the railcar. The second time we were assured when I called for a reservation for 2 that we wouldn’t be seated near a large group because we asked for a quiet place for dinner. When we arrived, they were going to seat us in the bar next to a table of 8-10 loud people! Said they were short staffed and had to close all other dining areas other than outside and in the bar. Because of the uniqueness of this place, we decided to make a reservation for six for last night. I asked specifically for the railcar and was assured it would be open. I even called a couple hours before our reservation time to make sure nothing had changed and was told we would definitely be in the railcar, which we were. Our server was great and the two appetizers were good even though the potato waffle one was just barely warm. (They were out of one of the appetizers we wanted. The “special of the night” was country-fried steak. Two of our friends ordered this and when their order arrived, it was a serving of some kind of fried chicken. The server said she had mistakenly told us the special was country-fried steak, so I’m not sure if it ever was steak and they were out, or if it was always chicken??? They offered to replace with something else but were out of some of the desired menu items. I ordered skewered jumbo shrimp. It was almost impossible to eat and extremely messy. Shell stuck so badly I almost couldn’t separate it from shrimp. Tasted good but I would NEVER put myself through that again. Restrooms are really bad; dirty and stall doors won’t close, paper towel roll just propped up beside the toilet. This restaurant has the potential to be an enjoyable place to eat, but that will not happen unless it acquires experienced and mature people to manage it. It seems the current staff is just not ready.
While the food was good (not amazing and not something I would go out of my way for but goodthe rest of our experience was not. We get there and we are told that the rail car was not open even though we made a reservation for it. The “manager” argued and made excuses for the mix up and tried to make it seem like our reservation wasn’t actually completed for the rail car (I have the email proof of reservation). We sit in the kiln room and the floor is beyond sticky and it just needs a good scrubbing. The waitress didn’t hear our order for an appetizer and when our food came out and we asked about it she was like I didn’t hear you but we are out of them anyways.Over all a disappointing experience and one that won’t have us racing back anytime soon. There are far too many A+ restaurants in Huntsville to waste any time there!!!
The food is always on point, delicious! The atmosphere is so diverse with antiques, paintings and music! You will enjoy just walking around checking things out and try the hammock, its sweet.
This turned out to be a decent place for lunch. Interesting ambience, attentive service, and good food. Our server was very helpful in suggesting both a beer and lunch items. It was brunch time and we chose the Pork Belly Eggs Benedict. The eggs were good but the pork belly was a very small portion. The biscuits upon which the eggs were served were just so-so. The beer was a local brew and excellent. The Lumberyard is one of those places where you probably wouldnt go out of your way to dine, but, if youre nearby, its not a bad choice. Slightly better than three stars...slightly too mundane for four. But lets call it four and maybe give it another try on another day.
Good food and good service. No good or bad surprises. Very large patio. The duck wall is cool, but a little weird. They did a major renovation and everything is pretty nice inside and on their patio. They have a few different sections to the bar, which makes it nice for private events. Would go again.
I recently had my wedding reception at the Lumberyard banquet hall and veranda and can honestly say that the whole process from start to finish was flawless. I have no complaints at all and have continued to get rave reviews from the reception guests who had a fabulous time. We ordered the taco bar and the food was delicious, fresh, and there was plenty left after serving the 100+ people in attendance (I paid for 100). In the past I thought their food hasnt been anything to write home about, but I ate there recently and enjoyed it - and now this experience leads me to believe that the new chef is doing a bang up job. Ashley was our event coordinator and she was super accommodating and so kind and caring to work with - she really tried to make everything the best it could be. We had a small snafu with a photo slideshow that we wanted to share on the projector and she went to great lengths to try to get it to work - and finally just loaned us her personal laptop to use for the evening, which was a lifesaver. The signature drink we selected was delicious - I would normally expect drinks from the bar to be expensive and weak, but all guests who tried them said that they were delicious and strong - but that they also tasted like they did not use cheap liqour. The event space itself is so fun and eclectic that you really dont need much in the way of decorations - dress it up or keep it simple and itll still look great either way. The banquet hall and veranda allowed for the use of the outside areas as well, so guests had plenty of space to sprawl out and enjoy different areas of the venue. Everything seemed to be really focused on quality and great customer satisfaction - I could not be more pleased with The Lumberyard and will highly recommend it to others.
Excellent outdoor dining experience. The BBQ was non-traditional and very tasty. Its cooked out in the open where you watch the grill master and enjoy the smells of the delicious vittles. They have a wide range of good drinks available, from a variety of wines to draft craft beer. Microwave Dave even played for us, at a sound level that we could enjoy his gentle blues and still hear our family conversation. Highly recommend!
We love this place! It has everything, delicious food, wonderful service and fantastic scenery.
I love the Lumberyard!!! The staff is always friendly, and works very hard to give you the best service. Im so glad that Chef Ruth is back, because the food is amazing! They provide a variety of great music, good drinks, with a fun, and unique atmosphere! We always have a blast when we go! We love the Lumberyard crew!
Such a cool place!! We ate on the Blue Bayou (renovated train into a restaurant). Loved it!! Tell me how they made pancakes , bacon, and scrambled eggs SO perfect ?! I was blown away by how fantastic such a simple food tasted. Truly loved my visit !!!
Really neat atmosphere! The courtyard is interesting. The kids enjoyed looking around at all the stuff (train car, piano parts, old tools, etcthroughout the courtyard. This would be an awesome place for a large party or event. They have nice open areas and a couple small stages. We came for Sunday Brunch. The kitchen was a little slow, but the food was good and our server was great. The Lumberyard Burger, French Toast, and Breakfast Burrito were all very tasty.
Went to watch my brother Aaron Bradley play, also Remey Neal was playing. These two are amazing young talented men, support local musicians. To my surprise a great atmosphere and kid friendly, huge plus in my book. Had a great time and some really good food, lumber yard burger, fries, brussel sprouts and 2 of the sort huge potato waffle cakes.... very yummy! Definitely would bring my family again. Super sweet staff in all areas, from the front door, to the waitress and bartender!
Their food was great. Atmosphere is superb, and the service was great as well. Will definitely be visiting this place again.
Waited over an hour for our food.I ordered a rare steak in my meal and got a well over cooked steak that was also deep fried also the rest of my food was cold. I came with a party, and we reserved our table a week ago and they called us to make sure we was coming they had plenty of prep time it wasnt busy. The experience was disappointing and the food wasnt the quality in comparison to the cost. Also in response to the owners reply I ordered my steak rare and was over cooked past well also greasy and I know a steak and how its supposed to be cooked as a former "Chef and manager" professional from a "highly reputable fine dinning establishment". I found that my standards were valid, but not only compared as a customer but as an culinary professional as wellPs two one star reviews isnt numerous , but what is numerous is the amount of terrible reviews in food quality and service you have. and as for other establishments I have given credit where it is due that deserves praise and what I feel people should be aware of from my experiences. Also as somebody that pays for a service I would expect to be treated with a proper amount of respect.Ill add that I returned my meal immediately and decided to eat else where and the 25 people that were also frustrated have already found it best that we no longer place reservations with this restaurant.Good day.
Our first visit! Drove over from The Shoals to hear Uncle Shoals play. Great music, and the food was soooo good! A bit crowded; get there early for a good seat on a band night.
Fantastic atmosphere and great service. Great for brunch and sandwiches, but the dinner entrees are a little pricey for whats delivered. This place has a lot going on and is worth checking out, and offers several events throughout the week such as live music, trivia, and more.
The food okay/good, but I have to give it a low score because of the service. The food was not good enough to bump the score higher. We waited forever for our food and kept getting forgotten. They were not very busy for a Sunday brunch, by the way. It took over 30 minutes to get the check and then they kept messing it up. We finally came inside to sit by the register for them to charge it correctly. We offered to make it one charge and we would handle the check between our 2 couple group. I would not waste your time coming here. Last time, we thought the service was a fluke. We gave it another shot, but found out that bad service is apparently consistent here.
Great brunch, but they were out of a lot of there specials for brunch recently after a 30 minute wait, and our orders were all not correct. Very friendly staff, but seemed a little unorganized. Normally one of the best brunch locations in Huntsville. Their specialty brunch drinks are also pretty pricey. $8 for a mimosa.Dinner is great. They have a very creative menu and everything they make is excellent. Usually very busy, but for good reason.
The experience that we had this past Sunday night was unacceptable. Let’s start with the service. We waited for quite sometime before a waitress arrived at our table. We placed our drink orders and they came out late and at various times. Which is unacceptable. Everyone should have received their drinks at the same time. Now let’s discuss the food. We all placed our orders at the same time and for some odd reason the food came out at separate times and some guests had to wait a extra thirty minutes before they received their meal. Several of the plates was sent back to the kitchen because the quality of the food had a very awful smell and some of the items were undercooked. Also one of the guest order a ice cream Sunday which took over 40 minutes for him to receive. Why does it take so long to put ice cream in a bowl? We asked the waitress for our checks several times. To the point we was just ready to walk out. She took her sweet time bringing them out. If it wasn’t for the gratuity being added to the checks she wouldn’t have received a tip from me. I recommend that no one go here until they get their customer service and food service up to a quality standard. The sad part is their was no more than about 20 guest in the building that night and for us to receive such horrible service is a disgrace. Management should take ownership of their mistakes instead of attacking their guests when they voice their complaints. Horrible service!!!

Attended a volunteer event here and was immediately blown away by the SIZE!!! Massive amounts of space, knowledgeable bartenders, courteous staff, nightly special dining events. Although I didnt have the pleasure of eating, I was able to view some of the meals come out and they looked quite tasty. HUGE outside area, stage, 2 bars, dining room and the coolest remodeled "bus/train " dining cart experience. If your looking for a venue for a laid back event/mtg this should be considered!
We were making a redemption visit last night. Got there, got seated immediately in the tap room. After about 5 minutes a waitress cane over and took our drink order. When she turned around she ran into a counter that has 3 or 4 pitchers of tea and they all feel to the floor. She started cleaning it up. It ran all under our table and feet. We were hoping they would move us since there were other tables available. They waited 15 minutes before asking if we wanted to move. We moved, then after waiting another 25-30 minutes they finally took our order. They were out of what one of us wanted. The ONLY option on their menu for a vegetarian. The waitress said she would go to check to be sure. After she returned she walked right past us to a different table. 10 minute lasted after no one else came by, we decide to leave. We waited almost an hour there and still no one took our order. This is our last time to eat there. 2 times before this, we had a horrible experience, same thing happened previously too. Items on the menu was not available, they were out. And, the service has gone down hill. But on the flip side, the people that do work there are very nice people. They also keep changing the menu. I loved the crab cakes, but, they no longer serve them. So sad.
Old, genuine lumberyard in downtown Huntsville features great talent. Tonight, the incredible Ingrid Marie & long-time artist Dave Gallagher (Microwave Daveperformed in the bar to all presents delight.
Really a great venue, always something new, and just an all around fun place to hangout
Sorry, but Id avoid it for food. Its very small inside, we visited on a Thursday "Trivia" night (unbeknownst to us), annoyingly loud microphone, and waited about 1.5 hrs for our food to come out. (They originally estimated 30min for us). They forgot one of our parties burgers, never made it. If youre looking solely for bar and drinks, this might be a great place. Outdoor seating was unique and fun, but limited table space, and again, prob not meant to be a restaurant experience, more a bar scene. And lastly, the food didnt have great flavor, simply mediocre for us all.
This place seems very inconsistent. I have eaten brunch here several times over the last few months with different groups of people (large and smalland had vastly different experiences with both service and quality of food. Firstly, regardless of how busy or empty the restaurant is, it will be a long wait before your small portion of food arrives. Usually that small amount of food will be delicious, but sometimes it is just disappointing. Additionally, sometimes the staff is incredibly attentive while other times you will be seated and then promptly ignored. The last time I went I brought one friend - we ordered a waffle and an omelet. After a 20 minute wait in a nearly empty room we received an awesome omelet and a pathetic King Waffle that looked nothing like the decadent waffle that I experienced when I visited previously. It was then that our water cups were finally filled for the second (and finaltime. I guess if youre willing to take a gamble for a great experience, then give it a try. 🤷
Rarely do I leave reviews for a restaurant, but rarely do I have a meal that I can truly say is best in its class. I ordered the buttermilk fried chicken with fried corn on the cob, and redskin mashed potatoes. This was the best Fried Chicken Ive ever had, and I was raised on farm. It was cooked perfectly and the flavors of honey and thyme strick a balance that is in a word transcendent. The atmosphere is eclectic and transports you to a different time. When I complimented the food, my waiter Jacob asked if Id like to meet the creator. The chef was warm, charming, and one of a kind, much like the menu items she creates. My wife told me this review is cheesy, buy the word must be spread...she loved her food too
Nice experience attending R&B Live. Food was ok, just go to the bar and place your order. Drink specials were available. Table seating and chairs available to listen to music. Bars available throughout.
1 start for consistency. Terrible service for me and both parties sitting either side of me at the bar. Waited nearly 15 minutes while seated at the bar before speaking up to order a waffle and drink. 4 different people moving behind the bar, 2 actual bartenders it appears, and no one actually helping customers. I ordered the King waffle. Claims to be "stuffed". Its not. Description should read "thin complimentary hotel waffle with 5 banana slices, Backs bacon bits, and a dollop of cream." If you think its going to be brunch, youll be let down. If you think its a cheap motel waffle, youll be excited. Sat with an empty water glass most of the meal. As far as those around me which indicates the service I received is normal, to my right the guy had to flag the girl down to get a bloody mary, couldnt get any attention to get food, and got up to get his own menu. To my left the couple got the wrong food order. The correct main dish but the eggs on their plates were mixed up and something was completely left off. The bartenders were good about complaining about their schedules. As a customer trying to get brunch, I dont care. Takes this up with your manager out of earshot. Needless to say, I wont be going back. Please dont patronize this establishment if youre looking for a decent brunch even though the menu looks enticing or you actually want to get a drink. Unless you manage to flag a server down, youll just be going here to sit in a warm building. Ill change the single star from consistency to warm building. Luckily the best thing about this place is the heat. Its cold out and I walked from my hotel thinking it would be fun and relaxing. Its terrible!
Prices are crazy high. Waffle-cut sweet potatoes fries are pretty great, though. The burger I ordered was missing toppings and overcooked. Other people at the meal had very different experiences. Might just be inconsistent?
Very mediocre. My husband and I had an iffy experience from the beginning. The hostess "forgot" about patio seating and had no idea where to sit us. The drinks are way over priced. The food was a little over priced as well. Our food was okay and the service was pretty shotty. Our server was too consumed in socializing with his friends. It was very obvious that we were not the only table neglected. Sad Sunday brunch.. And then the server gave us the wrong check. We will not be returning.
This place is fantastic! Ive been here both to socially drink and for an event. I have had a great experience both times. The two rooms brunch is excellent, the staff is helpful and will go the extra mile to help you out. Jessica heads up all of the events and she is outstanding to work with. Ill be back often. Thanks guys.
Fabulous meal. Awesome brisket. Had a great time, and entire group said it was wonderful. We had a great time with great food. Felicia was an awesome server. ..very knowledgeable, very attentive, and worked extremely well with the groups dynamics to make it a very enjoyable evening. I cant say enough great things about our experience.
Service was a little slow but food was good and beers are reasonably priced. Lots of unique places to sit and dine
Ecclectic, rustic lumber yard turned restaraunt and bar. The Flying Pig Sandwich has bacon, pork belly, avacado, tomato, and a spicy mayonnaise, and is to die for. Service has great and efficient, and the outdoor area was fun to wander.
Went to the lumberyard last weekend and was impressed by this venue. The rustic scenery combined with being a couple 100 feet away from a active railroad track its an interesting location. Some of the food Ive tried...Peanut butter waffles are great.Biscuits are great.Wings are great.Chicken sliders for dinner are spot on.
