ALQUIMIA BAR in Queretaro

Lovely atmosphere, beautiful decoration. Cocktail menu looked promising. Would have been nice to have been able to enjoy a drink. Waited 40 minutes for drinks that never arrived.

On point vibes, but unfortunately their craft has a long way to go. I see in other comments, reviewers saying that you might not get what you asked for and that was the exact case with us. Fine to stop by for a simple drink to check out the place, but would not recommend otherwise.

Very nice bar at Querétaro downtown, if you are sight seeing and lass by this place it is nice stop for a drink. However, you need to pay attention on what drinks you are served as you might not be served what you requested for... but you will be charged as you requested for... not happy experience really...

We just asked the very talented bartenders for whatever they chose to serve and they nailed it every time. Visited a few times. Best bar I’ve found in Q.

I felt completely ripped off at this place and I never want to go back! Tasted some awful mezcal that the bar tender insisted was great for a price of $150 pesos per shot. The place was packed and the waiter insisted that he had space in the back for our group of four. He placed our drinks in-between two tables on the side of the tiny room. We were literally squeezed in some random place. Didnt feel comfortable and wanted to leave. Tried to leave him a small tip $40 pesos because of the awkwardness but I guess he tried. He insisted that I double it because he was not taking any less than 10%.I was shocked. Since when is it mandatory in MEXICO to tip? Tip should be optional and reflect quality service. Tipping is not required. The drinks are very expensive and I thought it included service. After being disgusted with the man, we tipped and left. Do not waste your time.

I love this bar, super intimate and offers a wide variety of drinks.Friendly staff. Daniel is a great mixologist.Very nice atmosphere and the crowd is good too.

Absolutely love this place. Great atmosphere and fantastic drink selection. Staff is friendly and quick with a drink suggestion. They have a massive selection of alcohol and can mix pretty much anything. I suggest you venture outside your comfort zone... you wont be disappointed.

Ive had some amazing and inventive cocktails here but Ive also had them with a weird combination of food that seems to come out of some back-alley grimy bar and doesnt fit with the theme at all.

Well made cocktails and friendly staff. Careful attention to detail. Well done! Order a negroni for a great cocktail and fantastic presentation.

An excellent place for catching a drink before going to some club, or maybe a nice bar for drinking with friends. The cocktails are very sophisticated and well prepared. Try the "Gollum" cocktail if you want to get in the mood fast. It is prepared with absinthe and lime, a very strong choice.

Large liquor selection and quiet atmosphere

This was without doubt the worst service Ive ever had in any bar or restaurant in Mexico. The sign outside said "free pizza" - the miserable bar man didnt offer any information - despite the fact I spoke Spanish. He then spent most of his time on his iPhone on Facebook and seemed disgruntled when I asked him for another drink. I then discovered that several bars down Calle 5 de Mayo also have utterly miserable, nonchalant staff - maybe its something in the agua. Great interior as the Rough Guide said, but avoid and go somewhere where the staff care.
