Lovely atmosphere, very inclusive and friendly

The anarchist cafe of Utrecht, everyone here is a volunteer, and they have a good policy around kicking out people who are causing trouble or doing things to make people uncomfortable. Often have good shows and bands playing!

My visit wasnt as successful as I would imagine. It was empty on Saturday evening. Perhaps another weekend. I remember the drinks being more expensive in comparison to other closeby bar but the staff were kind enough to explain why. I might be tipsy when my visit happened so please dont take my review very seriously 😉

A lovely non-commercial, non-profit run bar. An excellent place if youre looking for a different vibe than the usual cafes and clubs scenes. Good place to play games and to dance! And cheap!

Low budget alternative culture bar and venue. Open minded and sometimes a bit crazy people, but always nice atmosphere. Check out website for a lot of different performances: punk, rock, dance, techno. But also gay nights, poetry slams. Sometimes free, sometimes a donation, but never over 10,-. Do watch your belongings though.

Went here for a D&D night, experienced the night of a lifetime! Made a bunch of new friends, felt so incredibly welcomed by hosts and staff it was surreal. Incredible, Ill be coming here weekly! 👍💖

My favorite spot in the city for a drink, good music and great vibes

Acu is that one place where anything can happen. Its my wild night out leaping into an underground fantasy of tattooed people, glitter faced DJs and beers from plastic cups. Dont expect a clean bathroom or fresh smoking area but if you wanna meet great people and not worry about how you look or fit in, this is the place!

Unique place in a world that becomes less and less unique. ACU is a place for social thoughts, expressions and actions. Great place voor a bite, drink and dance. Deserves more elaboration than this review can hold.

ACU is a non-commercial cultural center.Concerts is its most important activity but it hosts a wide range of activities: café, vegan restaurant, political events, jam sessions, benefit events, parties, movies, library, and meeting place for political and cultural initiatives. Theres also an exhibition room.

This is one of the most honest and underground bars (and a personal favourite!in Utrecht. It is run by volunteers and everyone should find here something of their liking: an anarchist library, political/cultural discussions, Taste Before you Waste dinners, concerts of upcoming bands, vitaminACU parties and open mic events.Some advice: the music is particular so it is a good idea to check what kind of event is on before going. Cash ONLY.This is a place where everyone feels welcome and accepted, so it is normal that you will often encounter some shady figures. For me, this only adds to the honesty of the place.I would advise to stick to your bag and jacket while being there; one time my bag was stolen but the next day my bag was returned to me.Thank you ACU for great memories and solidarity!

When in Utrecht, I have to stop here. Free books, nice people, good atmosphere. Not much happy with going at bars with fake underground design. I like it real.

ACU offers a nice and friendly environment with cheap entrance prices and also cheap inner prices. The music varies and it is one of the problems. Sometimes you may encounter good and sometimes bad music. In addition, the people are in majority positive but also sometimes a bit dodgy. However, despite the intense political aspect of the place, it is a nice partner in many of the nights in Utrecht. Totally recommend it !

Nice food and a variety of drinks. Also the staff is super nice and hospital. I went there for a night of taste before you waste and it was really good. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Probably one of the best venues supporting up and coming artists and established artists. They really care about music, people and the environment. We had a fantastic experience and we will be back. Thank you ACU!

Wonderful place where artists can get together on jam nights and play with other musicians on stage. Free entrance on most nights, while some nights a donation is in order. Few drafts beer and a few on bottle as well. Little parking space out front during work days. Social and free spirited, this place is ran by volunteers. Enjoy!

Very good atmosphere and ambience, nice personel and entertainment shows, the sanitary facilities however are very poor.

Most brutally honest place in town. One of the last bastions of underground Utrecht that are left. You can find people from all walks of life here, with one thing in common: at least a certain degree of humanity and a pinch of idealism. Great parties. Awesome vegan food. Interesting films & lectures. Nice beers. Open stage. A library. Run by volunteers. Cash only!

Great independent cultural center in the heart of Utrecht. Loads of great music events and the restaurant has a good selection of vegan meals on their menu. If youre into an underground and welcoming experience this is one of the places to go in Utrecht. Be sure to check their agenda because they have a very varied schedule with all sorts of cultural and political nights.

Lovely vegan food, and such amazing prices. Usually not too soyish/processed/unhealthy. Check opening times before you go, they are only open on specific days, at specific times.

Beware they smoke inside. And it really depends on the music whatever crowd comes. However. It is a nice place!

Alternative scene venue, often having a lot of concerts. The idea is that everyone is welcomed there and theres no place for discrimination. Im not sure if they completely managed to make me feel that way but I still very much appreciate it.You cant pay with card there so you betta bring the cashh.

The vegan food is scrumptious! Absolutely love it (Im not vegan myself). Lovely staff, great atmosphere. Every second and fourth Tuesday of the month theres an international open stage night which I love attending, and sometimes performing at. Very inclusive!

Food is very good, nice portions. The stuff on the walls was a bit distracting in a bad way.

Great alternative place to discover music and like-minded people. The slogan is no judgement, so you may dress as you wish and if you do anything racist you will be kicked out. Run by volunteers. They have vegan and vegetarian options for food. They organise a lot of different events, from poetry nights till crazy parties and live music.

It was a warm place with live music by us folks. The coffee and sparkling water was good. Since I dont use alcohol, I dont know how other drinks are. The International Open Stage activity was really nice that you sing and play instruments with people you didnt know before. In overall its been a fun experience for us.

The food was good! Its always nice picking something off the menu without worrying if everything is vegan or not.The overall is experience was not so good... We waited an hour for the starters/snacks and another hour for the main dish, so a total of 2 hours!We ended up not having enough time to enjoy Utrecht because it was already late. Sucks!!😧

ACU is a lovely special place. Because voulenteers run the bar you may notice that the service is not that quick for example. But, this is also the charm of ACU. They organize shows and activities on a very regular basis and most of the visitors are international visitors (students or backpackers). They serve vegan food for a fair price but dont expect a hospitality treatment like in a fancy restaurant.

This is a great place for a nice evening out with friends. Healthy and delicious food for a good price.

I semi-converted multiple meat eaters. We ordered one of everything, and almost everything was amazing. Some deserts could use improvement, and you have to be a little patient with the service, but still, 5 stars.

Edited: The staff is awful, the "chef" acts like a dictator and the food has gotten significantly worse. If youre idea of going out for dinner is waiting 45 minutes for a to give your drink order and eating cold yet somehow also overcooked food with spoons because there arent any clean forks, then this is your place.Delicious food, also one of the only places in the city thats affordable and not insanely overpriced! Its cool they change the menu monthly so you can try something new almost every youre there.

Really good food! And it’s vegan! You won’t even notice it’s just like eating at a pub. Really friendly staff (all volunteersand super cheap. 4,50 for stater an 9,50 for a main. No a fancy looking place but atmosphere and people 100%
