Intimate, traditional bar with wood paneling, meeting room & large range of Belgian & foreign beer.
Lambic. Its like a bitter apple juice. You get a baby pitcher for like 7 euro. Its a neat atmosphere
Great service, great lambics. Its hiding just off the main path down a short alley. If you come here youve successfully stumbled onto something interesting.
Nice and typical place where you can drink good Belgian beer! Cheers!
Another one of those old school places that hasnt changed in decades. Its always a little bit humbling to have a beer in a bar with this much history behind it.Tucked away in an alley between a weed shop and a waffle shop.Timmermans lambic is a bit too sweet for my taste, but you have to drink some here. The cervelas sausage at 3 euros is a great deal, and we split a pizza which was quite good.
Great atmosphere with friendly staff.
Its a very traditional and local beer house.Despite being right in the heart of the historic center, it might be easy to miss the entrance, but once youre in, you will feel right at home. Someone elses home. We felt like intruders while the locals were partying, clapping and singing shirtlessly. An interesting experience to say the least.Must have been the language barrier. They didnt have the beer I wanted despite it being on the menu. There was a cat sitting next to us at the table, the owner maybe? 🐈
The place, that changed my negative attitude to beer. Super! Really like and recommend to visit. Try lambic beers.
One of a kind. Try the lambic doux with fromage de Bruxelles.
Hiding in plain sight. Slap bang in the middle of tourist Brussels but no tourist dares to enter. What a gem. Truly excellent selection of beers.
Flat lambic. I dont get this place, but maybe you do.
Lovely place, although the new staff a little bit cold...
Very rude waiter and owner in the restaurant. We had a 1-year old baby with us on the table and we had brought a small cake to celebrate her 1st anniversary. We requested plates from the waiter for the cake but he rudely told us that he has to charge € 15 for the plates. We didn’t get plates, and we ate the cake only with our spoons on the table (since we had already ordered food). The waiter and the owner rudely argued with us and charged us the € 15 just because we used the spoons to eat the cake. They have no respect whatsoever to customers. This owner loves money more than its customers. I don’t recommend this restaurant
Amazing little hidden location! Very typical, friendly prices despite being sooo central, and just excellent beer and local snacks.Had the small testing combo, and accompanied it with wonderful dry sausage, mustard and pickles.Highly recommend the "Bourgogne des Flandres", aged in wine barrels.
A trip to the past and to taste homemade Lambic. A hidden gem to discover, at least once if you want to know something different in the centre.
Really enjoyed the snacks and there are some good drinks to be had!
Known by the old Brusseleirs and their friends. Wonderfully authentic place, but dont go there if you are a tourist. Go there when you want to be a Brusseleir. Ask for Lambic douce with une tartine plattekeis.
What a lovely traditional Belgian bar with an excellent selection of beers
Wonderful cafe down a small alley next the Bourse(Grand place). Excellent meal with excellent gueuze. Highly Recommended
Was hoping to find a traditional pub with great beers but the beers tasted super metallic, the place was empty and the ambiance kind of sad. Sort of felt like a tourist trap !
We just had a natural fermented beer. Amazing s#t!!!!
Excellent TasterTraditional Brussels Cafe. Just close to the Grand Place
A classic, old timey place in Brussels. Staff didnt seem to be happy to be there. Their house beer of sweetened Timmermans lambic isnt particularly interesting. Had lunch, the croque monsieur was a good portion.
Old fashioned bar serving traditional beers and snack food. Well worth a visit
This bar is a proper little hidden gem. Tucked at the rear of a small alleyway. The large neon sign pointing the way in helps. Once inside this is a cosy and original beer room. Long tables, where everyone sits together. The choice of beers is pretty good and the food is tasty. If the weather permits it has a small external seating area too. If you are looking for an authentic beer hall then head here
Lambic aux and fromage a la tete was an authentic culinary Experience. The Place is not easy to find but is central. Interiors are really curated everything look really perfect and jump you in the past. IT is Worth it
Excellent litte beer hall with loads of character. Wasnt particularly busy but good staff and interesting music selection too, 40s and 50s. The gueuze blonde was very tasty, served in jugs and very reasonable prices for the centre of the city. Lovely smell from the waffle store next door too.
Great little retreat from the noise of the city center offering decent selection of beer as well as snacks and even hot dishes. The interior is very atmospheric with wooden wall panels, real candles and leather chairs.
Very old but very elegant Belgian beer hall with great service, a great atmosphere, great beer selection and worth just enjoying the history of it.
Great bar with lots of locals... As shown by the difficulty in explaining some of the items in English! Reasonable price and authentic old surroundings
Very cozy atmosphere, made even more so by the earthenware serving pitchers. Great place to come and enjoy the tasty one-of-a-kind geueze/lambic.
Nice brasserie. There is always some place available + second floor. They have home made beer that is quite decent. I recommend to order the white one. Service is very good and polite. Atmosphere of an old brasserie makes it special. You can only pay with cash.
It feels like a good ole pub. Actually, it is a good ole pub. The place is nicely decorated and it is in the first floor of a building that doesnt make a good first impression... You could try Lambic, a sweet and sour beer, which is highly recommended. Service and prices are average.
Nice and cozy place. Feels very traditional. The beer is served in jars and is cheap.
Great atmosphere great beer selection. Staff was not Belgian but from another country which was disappointing. Would like some vegan or vegetarian snacks.
Interesting bar tucked away down an alleyway with a great selection of Belgian beers including Lambic styles and other fruit beers. You can try a sampler platter of 4 beers in either smaller or bigger sizes. Nice snacks too. Very pleasant place to try out some beer styles you may not have come across before.
Nice small bar for trying a few brews. Dont sit next to the bathroom door, it was pongy every time someone opened that door which put me off my beer a little. Friendly staff and good atmosphere.
From the few places I drank in Brussels this had a quote relaxed comfortable vibe. Beer choice was great, with very reasonable prices.Food was mostly snacks to compliment the beers you drink.I didnt have, but did see some of the lasagne that came out (one of the few meal optionslooked really really good!Hint, dont sit within a metre or two of the lavatory. If someone opens that toilet door and the entrance door it can be a little intense on the nose to those sitting close.Highly recommend.
Surprise, suprise. Tiny, traditional beer bar in the backyard. Great selection of Belgian Beers - as most of them are strong you should also take one of the snacks. The service ist very friendly, interieur and music invite to stay a little bit longer (and taste another beer). So happy, having found thus bar.
Nice historical place to discover & taste lambic (a typical Belgian Brussels beer). Service is sometimes so so. But the lambic, and the old style pub with old wood walls is nice to discover. There are tasting plates of several beets to try.
Wonderful tiny place. Unfortunately the waiter can be quite unpleasant, especially with tourists. Ive visited this place a few times and when I was there with Italian or Indian friends I had a distinct feeling that we were not welcome. We where treated very differently once I came in with Belgian / French speaking colleagues. Its a pity.
Another traditional panelled Belgian bar, which serves Lambic beer amongst others. Very popular, but on the smaller side & can get crowded, but that all adds to the charm of the place. Staff are great & very obliging and the beers are superb. Its even served in a stone jug, which you can also buy as a souvenir.
Nice place, quiet atmosphere, funny waiter, a more easy to reach place to try the traditional lambic beer, even more unique than the spiced saison (brasserie cantillon, which is the other place, is a bit further and isolated, but also worth a visit so you get to see how its done and what is so special about it).Took of one star because they kinda false advertise that they are the only place that sells lambic beer (they are the ones that sell the Timmermans lambic beer 😉)
A great place to stop and get a beer before dinner in Brussels.
A great beer outlet with quality Belgian beers, offering light snacks too, with table service. English is spoken very well by the friendly staff. The wooden panelling adds character to the room which is very well appointed with tables and chairs. We enjoyed a couple of jugs of the relatively expensive Gueze - a very enjoyable sour beer
Beautiful old estaminet with friendly staff and an interesting choice of beer (including lambic).
Really good blended beer and the bar is set back from the busy street through an alley way. The barman /owner was very attentive considering we were outside in the courtyard and the atmosphere out there was fantastic. Came away really relaxed after a good drink and chat with friends.
Wonderful little bar tucked away down a mysterious alleyway. The friendly staff dress as monks, and supply a good selection of local beers - I tried their local lambic (served in a pot), and it was delicious. Much recommended!
One of those "down an alley" bars that Belgium seems to specialise in. Delightfully quiet for central Brussels on a Friday lunchtime. Lovely wood eveywhere and some tiled toilets that are worth a visit just to look. We started with the Palette de Dégustation to get an idea of what was what before continuing with a few more glasses of our favourite. In my case a deep red cherry beer with a pleasant mixture of acid and sweetness. This was accompanied by a plate of cheese, blood sausage and brawn and another of bread spread with cream cheese and accompanied by radishes and sliced shallots. A very pleasant snack. The staff do their best to shrug and sigh and look exasperated at the ignorance of all the tourists that come through the door. But its all an act and actually we felt very welcome. Another case of wishing wed had another few hours to get comfy and explore the beer menu.
This is a great hidden bar. Good selection of beers, and food options are tasty. This place always makes me feel like Im experiencing something that hasnt changed for a long long time, and like I managed to escape the touristic ambiance of the area.
Great beer 🍻 tasting in one of the most central pub of BXL.
