Moselstraße 40, 60329 Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Schlüchtern
This trendy, modern hostel is a 3-minute walk from Frankfurt central train station and a 10-minute walk from Main Tower. The colorful, mixed-gender and all-female dorms come with shared bathrooms, free Wi-Fi, reading lights and wooden floors. Some private rooms feature shared facilities, while others have their own bathrooms. Apartments offer kitchenettes and pull-out sofas.Amenities include a modern lounge bar with leather sofas, and a funky game room with graffiti-adorned walls, billiards and foosball.
Liked everything about the Hostel: the price, cleanliness, friendline. The only downside, the neighborhoods looks like a dumpster, from the post-apocalyptic movie.
One of the best hostels ive ever stayed, clean, warm and friendly personnel.
Good hotel located just on the red light district. Train station is nearby. Good service and free tea!
Probably the best hostel Ive ever been to. Free coffee and tea, as well as pool table and table football. Events every evening. Comfortable mattress.
Overall great hostel, my style. Rooms are ok, but social area is great. Staff are friendly and personable. It’s a great place to meet people.Keep in mind the neighborhood is a bit shady but it didn’t seem to be dangerous just a lot of vagrants and sleezy clubs
The receptionist and staffs are excellent, just slightly noisy. Would be great if each rooms are tidied up for the next.
Our family of 5 stayed in the apartment, giving 2/5 because of the location and cleanliness of room. (located in the red light district, junkies, sale of drugs being visiblealthough we left unharmed, we were always stared at and it felt unsafe. Definitely not safe for single travellers. Loud music from bars nearby/glass bottles breaking/ ambulances and the hostel provided us ear plugs. Saw cockroaches in the apartment as well. Strands of hair from previous hostel stayer seen when we entered the apartment. However, staff were quite helpful during the stay, wifi provided and free tea & coffee throughout with 24h reception. There is a buzzer to enter the hostel and staff will attempt to identify hostel stayers. Apartment can accommodate up to 4pax and 20euros each for any additional person. Adequate appliances provided. Would recommend to pay more to stay at an accommodation at a safer location.
Besides the unsafe location, the hostel itself is also not good. Pillows and blankets don’t look clean, neither doesn’t the toilet and shower room. I’ve been to many hostels in Europe and this is one of the worst.
Hostel with good vibes. Staff are extremely helpful. Nice social atmosphere. Happy hour is a big bonus! The 3-bed dorm had its own bathroom too. Bed a bit creaky though, difficult for tall people to climb up and make the bed - support would be appreciated here.Location is bad and can generate creepy vibes for the uninitiated. Its safe but not what you want to see when youre checking Frankfurt for the first-time.
Great hostel! Ignore the bad reviews! Its a very social place, well located and with helpful staff. Beds are very comfortable. Bedrooms have huge lockers (bring your padlock). They offer free coffee/tea all day. Kebab restaurant just around the corner with delicious and affordable food.
Stayed here one night while travelling between cities. Hostel was standard, nice bar, and beds were pretty good. Cleanliness was also good, didnt see any bugs in the room I was in. There is the issue of the area this hostel is located as everyone mentions, but Im sure it is hardly the most dangerous part of Germany. The red light district is very dirty and there is a lot of drugs there but really you just need to put your head down and try to ignore it. Nobody bothers you & I never saw anyone getting bothered either. Take a 5 minute walk away from the hostel in any direction and it gets you out of the worst parts. Tons of great food to try around the area. Really, Ive felt more unsafe in cities in North America than here.
Bed bugs all over. Haven’t received a refund yet. Will update I do. Also felt unsafe walking to-from the hostel, it’s in the red light district. Lots of sketchy people around. Very loud in the rooms.
This hostel was awesome! The people working here were so friendly and conversational. The bar is great and there is free dinner for those who get there fast enough. The location is pretty bad, but it is very close to the main train station, which is very convenient. Even though its in a bad part of the city, we never felt unsafe. We stayed in an apartment which was very big, clean, and had everything we needed. Aside from the Iron Maiden show, this place was our favorite part of Frankfurt.
I will never recommend this place. It is located in the most dangerous area. There are also bedbug problems. They ate me alive. It was my bad that I didn’t read most of reviews. It turned out that bedbug problem was 3 years ago too. Why they didn’t solve the problem! The breakfast was not fresh and they served with dirty cups! Definitely not recommending!!! 🤮🤮🤮
Horrible experience altogether. This Hostel is located in the most dangerous part of Germany (Hauptbahnhof). It is extremely unsafe for female travelers to walk around the area especially at night. The Hostel barely has any security at all. Anyone can just walk in without a key card. You only need the key card for entering your room. The Hostel was not very clean, the rooms were uncomfortably hot, and the staff charged me extra anytime I paid for anything by card. The breakfast also looked disgusting (flies literally hovering over the food and they asked for 6.50€ for the breakfast. Would definitely advise just staying at a hotel.
Good nights sleep. Nice shower. Good breakfast.Internet in room a bit weak, coffee could be better
The hostel is such a nice and clean and comfortable but the only issue is the location. Which in not that much safe. Its red light area with lots of people with drunk but you will be safe inside Hostel.
nice Historical structure at prime location of Frankfurt, all facilities are available around the area
Note: Hostel not recommended for single (femaletravellers. It is located in the red light distract incl. a lot of people with a high preference for drugs. Certainly not safe if alone, especially in the evening/night time.Hostel itself is good, you get what you pay for. I was in a double bedroom, average clean, towels included, room offers what you need for a short stay. Reception always helpful, friendly atmosphere.Location needs to be taken into account.
horrible place. located in a bad neighborhood - police were stationed at the corner all night but you still had to walk around homeless & deranged people to get in the door. but the worst part was one specific staff member...i overslept my checkout (my mistake, i was out late on a saturday nightand he literally slammed open my door and screamed at me to get out. and then they accused me of breaking the blinds and charged me for them. yes i overslept but i would have packed up and got out without them yelling at me, and i definitely never touched the blinds. i was polite to them at all times so I didnt deserve to be yelled at. never had an experience like this before, dont give them your money
Nice atmosphere. The location is great, near the station and the financial district. The neighborhood is not nice, but in less then 1 minute of walking you are in the financial district.Stunning view from our room!
A welcoming hostel with lots of facilities available, free breakfast as well! We enjoyed the warm hospitality of the staff, the rooms were clean and the lockers were a great size. We could fit both of our backpacks into one locker. The location is a little worrying at night, so take care when walking to and from the hostel. It’s a few minutes walk until you’re in the more pleasant areas. The location is great, but the street is terrible. The hostel shouldn’t be down rated for the red light district in which it stands.Thank you for your hospitality Five Elements!
WARNING. The reviews do not explain the unsafe nature of the location well enough. As a woman, I was terrified of walking from the train station to the hostel in broad daylight, and I had someone with me. If I was traveling alone, I would have turned around and left on the spot. The hostel itself is fine, bare and basic, but thats what youve paid for.The walls are concrete, but unfortunately the sounds of the streets below come in easily via the window. There was also construction work happening which was a nice 6am alarm. We stayed in a private room, and I know many people have commented on the bed bug issues, we left unscathed, though I swear Id seen some in the morning. We ended up cutting our stay in Frankfurt short and left after 12 hours.I wanted to be able to explore and walk around, not be terrified and confined to my room.(I did find it interesting that when we told reception we were checking out early, they didnt ask if there were any issues/feedback. Guess when theyve already got your money, it doesnt matter?)
It is really really close to the main station. BUT it feels like a dangerous neighborhood. A lot of drug consum in the soroundins. I was with 2 guys and still got nasty vomments on the streets. I saw a couple of girls who didnt want to prolong their stay due to the location (aka safetythe hostel didnt reimburs them anything
We probably got bed bugs from this place, my husband was covered in rashes the next day, and I now got some buttons as well. The neighborhood is also the worst Frankfurt can offer unfortunately. I wouldn’t recommend staying here again!
Location is sketchy but people are nice.We had a very bad experience regarding the cleanliness of the place. I got an allergy from the room and it is probably because of how humid it was and that the appropriate measures were not taken. The sheets on the bed were probably not changed from the previous guests.
Affordable and cost effective, overall hygiene is not bad.But as you can see from the map, it is located in the heart of the red light district and can be dangerous at night, so dont wander around. There are only a few beds and chairs in the rooms, and the public bathrooms are quite clean. If you want to work or play, you can go to the ground floor of the hotel, where there is free boiled water and coffee, and some entertainment.
The room was clean, had an OK size and a very nice view. Everything was clean and the staff was friendly. All in all a great experience
Sooo my stay at 5Elements was great! 🥳On three days the font desk managers were super nice, relaxed and treated everyone with respect. The room and bathrooms were totally ok clean. Our 6 bed female dorm to the back yard had an amazing view on the frankfurt skyline. Its really just 5 min walk from the central station. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⚠️ One has to be clear that the area around the hostel is the red light district with a lot of sad and high people on the streets (which might be difficult to deal with- which makes the great and welcoming experience in the hostel even more worth appreciating the teams good job! Thank you guys! 🙏 This is definitely my go to hostel in Frankfurt!
Positive: inviting atmosphere, friendly staff, and chill loungeNegative: unsafe surroundings, beds stained, sheets just laid down on the bed have to make it yourself
Rooms are hot, so we have to keep our windows open for fresh air, and enjoy the free concert at night from the homeless, local businesses and Frankfurt car drivers.
The Service and the hostel is good. Just that the location is a bit dangerous with the people outside in the red light district but no complaints about the Hostel.
We had an awesome stay! Location is great, even though it’s in the red light district, we always felt safe. Staff was welcoming and we had free dinner.
Amazing!!! Cheap, very well located, great staff, good rooms, nice restroons and a wonderful lounge, with tables, sofa and free coffee, water and tea the whole day. Good breakfast as well.
Amazing hostel in the center of the red light district of Frankfurt.Mostly all of the hostels have spirit and this one is for sure one of them.Firstly, the staff there is awesome, friendly, nice and communicative.Second, there is free lockers, free tea, free coffee, free breakfast, free bed sheets and free covid29 tests included and you can play billiard for free 😀Plus there is some board games that you can play with other guests in the guest room.Everything just perfect!Vielen dank ❤️
Its correct, the location is pretty bad by the little dangerous neighborhood. Otherwise the hostel has a cool common room and a laundry + little kitchen. The bedrooms and sanitary seems cheap and unfinished. I was afraid my bed could fall on the ground, well Im alive so I guess you could go there if you want to be near the city center.People who work there are really cool and helpful.
Nice hostel, but the atmosphere and the people around outside of the hotel seems very dangerous. The hostel is located in the red light district and I would not recommend going out on your own at night.
Its just perfect! Clean room, simple but nice breakfast, good location. attentive staffs and good atmosphere. You can observe the night life in red light district which is attractive for me as a tourist and its safe.
Very nice atmosphere… friendly staff… 24 hrs service and well maintained room…. Not super delux with kids but very much manageable with kids…Location is very good and easy accessible to Main station , airport as well as to the corona test center in Main station….
Hostel itself was fine but no ac in the dorm, and keeping the windows open meant hearing the loud homeless and party population on the street below. The area next to the train station doesn’t feel super safe.Curtains didn’t cover the windows. Wifi was good and free breakfast.
I dont mind its in the middle of red district but the hostel is clean and has affordable price. We booked 2 beds and a shared wc.. the receptionist speaks good english and welcomed us.You can pay in cash or in credit.
It was very good. For this so small price it’s amazing hostel. Staff were polite, room clean and comfortable. It’s in the centre of Frankfurt, so you will not spend a lot of time to get the most famous places.
Hostel is clean and staff was attentive. Breakfast could be better. The room was fresh and overall the hostel felt very organized. Which is necessary, because the outside environment is VERY seedy. There are people lying on the street, other people pissing on people lying on the street, open drug consumption, and people who are so far gone they could be casted for a zombie apocalypse movie. If you want to see and explore the absolute low point of human civilization, than come here. You wont be disappointed.
Solid hostel, one person room on the seventh floor is amazing for the money, bathrooms are clean and spacious. Friendly staff. The hostel is located near the train station in the red light district. A lot of junkies, homeless people and weirdos in the area, lots of police too.
This place is so safe despite of shady neighborhood. That Russian guy, Slovenian girl are the best host and keepers. Just had a bad experience with only one staff member from Australia who looked like Asian. Other than that excellent service and love from Texas.
To get it out of the way, like being said already many times, the neighborhood is a unique one. However whenever you dont bother your neighbours they will leave you alone and is walking around just fine. One of the greatest advantages of this hostel is the location, a prime location in the city. Everything is walkable by foot or accessible by public transport. Then on to the hostel itself. Its clean and now with all the corona protocols everything also feels sufficiently prepared for social distancing. A just fine breakfast is served, dont expect the world, but it suffices. The rooms are clean, large and provide in all needs. And finally the staff, always nice, and were always able to help with our questions. We were with the maximum group size during corona of ten persons and we could just always be seated.Thank you 5Elements staff!
We stayed there for five days and it was a great time! The crew is very nice and everybody’s just very helpful and cordial. The food was always very delicious and we loved playing table tennis or pool billiard with the other guests and the volunteers from the hostel. We stayed in the apartment and it was equipped very well. So all in all we were more than happy with the five elements hostel Frankfurt :)
Super friendly staff! No matter the time of day, they were always smiling and eager to answer any questions we had. The complimentary welcome beer as well as the breakfasts every morning were delicious. We booked a private room that was very large, clean, and comfortable. The hostel is located right next to Hauptbahnhof (the central station), which is great for travelers, but all the listings and even the booking confirmation warn you that they are in the middle of the red-light district. Be mentally alert and prepared for this, as we were taken aback even though we knew. But as soon as we stepped into the hostel, we felt at home.
Hostel amazing, with a great social vibe. They offer some dinner and activities which can really put people together. Don´t miss the beer taste. The area from the hostel seems insecure, but not. I din´t feel any in danger walking there, even late night. The room and bathroom was clean, and quiet for sleep.
Stayed one night with a friend in a three-bed room and was comfortable. It was a little hot, but we managed. It was a fairly clean hostel which was nice. The breakfast is all you can eat, so definitely a worth it winner. There was a lot of confusion at the front desk though and they almost forgot to give my friend back his passport, so I dropped a star for the reception area not being the best. Overall I would stay again and had a good experience.
