Tiny Italian restaurant dishing up a classic seasonal menu featuring their own homemade bread.
I always love this place. It never disapoints. I love the starters (esp Beef carpaccioand sometimes just have 3 of them.
Wow amazing! The BEST ravioli I have ever had!!!! Lemon ricotta with asparagus sauce. The table also ordered the risotto and the beef ragu. They were both just as amazing. I enjoyed all three of the dishes.I cant wait to go back!
I have been visiting ever since it opened. It is as lovely as ever
If you are Italian and miss your country come here!If you are from everywhere else and you want to get a taste of real Italian food come here !The bread was homemade! The olive oil brought me to the south italian fields !The ravioli with lemon …Everything was perfect! The wine list is stunning!A real Italian restaurant !
Big disappointment! I don’t like the attitude the owner gave to our honest feedback. Seafood fritters were sogga and bad and the pasta was overcooked and seemed defrosted and not seasoned. I may be wrong but very lackluster
Went here for my birthday and was amazing. Food tasted amazing and was very fresh. Service was also very good
Food was excellent, real italian, as the waiter and the chef. Service was great, clean and cosy atmosphere. And the food was SOOOOO good!!!!!
Stunning little gem!We have recently discovered this gorgeous Italian family run restaurant! If you are looking for an authentic Italian restaurant this is the place! The owner is Italian, well from Sardinia (Best part of the countryso the food is 100% Italian with a hint of Sardinia cuisine, from the bread, to the cheese and the worldwide famous beer Ichnusa! Its a must! The food is very tasty, well presented and packed with flavours! Service is not rushed and they are chatty and friendly.Definitely a local spot to keep in mind!
A perfect evening. Lovely, friendly staff, scrumptious food - and overall, a relaxing, welcoming oasis amidst the madness. Red wine was lovely also (Nero dAvola), and we were not rushed or hurried at any point. Modest but tasty & well-presented cheeseboard, too. Highly recommended if you find yourself in the area.
Good to be back!! Food and service fantastic as always. Get yourself there, you wont be disappointed.
Beautiful food, warm welcome and great atmosphere. Giorgio and Mario are excellent hosts.
Cosy Italian family restaurant. The service is good & the food is tasty. Decent price as well. Not the cleanest and the toilets weren’t the best, but we were hungry so…I ordered the tagliatelle, which was delicious. And the other two ordered rabbit, which they said tasted…interesting lol
Unfortunately have no idea how this place has such good reviews. The fritti starter was clearly frozen, tasteless and chewy, and not even served with any sauce. Likewise with the ravioli, dry and mealy. The pasta mains were more akin to what they serve people who have had jaw surgery or to newly born babies. The average age of customer seemed to be about the age of their shellfish, close to a hundred years old. The only saving grace is relatively cheap booze. DO NOT RECOMMEND. (Originally we gave it 2 stars but the aggressive and rude response of the owners made us change it to one. This attitude to the customers gives you a taste of what to expect when you go their depressing little restaurant)
Excellent food in a pleasant setting, with friendly staff. 500 has a small menu, which I think means that every dish is very well done. Everything we had was exceptionally good. A starter of burrato caponata was gorgeous. My main course of sea bass in a herb crust was in a green sauce with courgettes and spring onions. My pannacotta was flavoured with basil and grappa - which sounded odd, but was subtle and gorgeous. I highly recommend this place.
Amazing little restaurant with delicious, authentic Italian cooking for really reasonable prices. My Italian friend comes here whenever she wants a taste of home, which is the best recommendation I can give.
Great food and ambience. Quality dishes.Mario the Headchef puts so much thought and passion in his dishes. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
We have ordered takeout from here a few times: it is always superb quality. The fresh bread and rosemary panna cotta are particularly stand out amazing. You can tell there is a lot of love in the cooking.
500 is one of my favourite restaurants in London and I have missed it terribly during lockdown. We ordered their Valentines Day takeaway which they kindly delivered to us on Saturday and it was so nicely done - it came with a bottle of prosecco, a rose and chocolates! Thank you so much 500 - we cannot wait to return when you reopen!
Recently ordered as a takeaway and blown away by the quality of food and service. Everything we ordered tasted absolutely amazing. We will definitely be ordering from this restaurant again. The food was outstanding and really made our lockdown Saturday date night.
We had a wonderful takeaway from here this evening! I had the delicious Ravioli di cervo and my husband the Strozzapreti al ragù di manzo. We can’t recommend this restaurant enough and have no hesitation in giving 5 stars. Thank you
Went for dinner tonight at short notice in these uncertain tier 2 times. Had a great silky red from Puglia, lovely starter with pheasant mousse and black truffle, nice lamb with black kale and for afters a simple yet delicious small portion of Sardinian pecorino cheese with honey. And not the least of the pleasant surprises was music from the mid to late 70s, including the mighty Quo, melodious ABBA and the ever magical and soaring Wuthering Heights just before I left. One of my favourite, go-to Italian places in North London. Grazie a tutti!
I’m Italian and I can tell you that the quality of the food is quite bad and it’s expensive. The entrance looks really cheap so if you want to bring a girl for dinner she will feel you are entering a kebab shop. Also the music is weird, just a bunch of random songs so expect from queen to Spice Girls. There is much better around.
The food far surpassed the area its located in. The slow cooked beef shin pasta and chocolate mousse dessert were real winners. The price was very reasonable and the service friendly. We will definitely be returning soon.
Always amazing 😉 excellent service and moreish chargrilled mixed fish! Once again highly recommended!
Third time we are coming in this lovely restaurant. Never been disappointed. We loved it. Enjoyed the Web Offer, meaning early dinner get a good discount. Wine is always pleasant. The staff is professional and friendly. I would warmly recommend that restaurant.
Small pizzeria plus. Extremely good food with friendly helpful staff. They do home delivery as well. I tried Eggs Florentine for brunch and it was truly delicious..and reasonably priced. Well worth visiting!
The food is far more impressive than the location. Very authentic Italian, and they obviously know good pasta. We had two courses + bottle of white for £65 + service (=very reasonable), but you could easily nip in for a pasta main course for £12ish. Will definitely be returning.
One of the best Italian restaurants in London. Quite the hidden gem. We took advantage of 30% discount on the wine on Tuesday.
The fresh pasta from here was very memorable - honestly, so so good. Great service from start to finish. Only criticism would be the portion size was less than expected and I did go home a little bit hungry! But this won’t stop me from returning.
Lovely Italian restaurant a few steps from archway tube station. The place is not pretentious in its exteriors and makes you feel at home. The staff is very friendly and attentive and they are happy to give you advices. Very good the starters as well as the main courses. The house wine is not expensive and decent. Prices are reasonable and justified by the service you receive
As usual it was fantastic. Had the sharing platter of assorted starters a very good way to taste various dishes Including venison Carapacio, pheasant mousse, burrata, deep fried ravioli etc. Then veal chop which was excellent other main was monkfish which was also excellent.also on Tuesday there is 30% of wine. The staff are absolutely wonderful as well as the chef
Dinner was pleasant, the Pan fried stone bass fillet with samphire was nice, but the Coppa 500 was a disappointment, the cherries were too soft. Decor of 500 was fine.Staff were pleasant and presentable
Had a birthday dinner for my girlfriend here. Very popular and obvious why: great food, great selection with regular and special menus coexisting. Would recommend for tasty Italian.
Me and my significant other half , battled through snow and bone chilling wind to get this place last night (17th March 2018And what a terrible mistake, it turned out to be. Maybe it’s me, and I’m just missing something, But being lucky enough to be able to afford to eat out at least 3 or 4 nights a week, I normally expect to be asked what I would like to drink on arrival, but not this place you have to ask after about 15 minuets. And when they take your food order , they don’t seem to bother to serve you what you have asked for and don’t even think to ask if you would like any wine with your meal. Apart from leaving hungry, when you receive the bill, it says SERVICE NOT INCLUDED as if you are either BLIND or STUPID enough NOT TOO HAVE NOTICED. I would strongly advise people NOT to go anywhere near this place Unless you like IGNORANT STAFF and Being TREATED with UTTER CONTEMPT, should I find myself in this area AGAIN, I Shall be using SAINT JOHNS TAVERN on nearby JUNCTION ROAD N19.
Very good Italian restaurant, better than average. Small, but well thought menu. Fantastic ragù! Ive tried a few pasta dishes band all were excellent. My Italian in-laws approved too.
Great lunch, good service, good selection of wines by the glass, original clientele when we were there. Fish dishes were great, good suggestions with the menus for accompanying drinks. Prices above Holloway Road local prices but food & taste quality well worth it. We will go again.
One of the best Italian restaurants I have been to in London.Great prices and serviceMusic was a bit strange, lots of Michael Jackson! But overall delicious foodThere are some options for vegetarians but I hope they change every now and then so I can come back
Cosy local Italian. The tuna was great with fennel salad and cooked just perfectly. The ravioli we also perfect. The desert we had we not as good as the mains. The polenta cake was too dry and the rhubarb desert was a bit to sweet.
Very impressed with this place! The food is absolutely delicious! Definitively not all-the-same dishes it would find in regular Italian restaurants; here they are original and well thought out. The risotto was amazing and the lamb meat melted in your mouth. Service is also super attentive. Make sure to try the Testun Barolo cheese as a small starter; its spectacular.
500 is a very popular restaurant and with good reason. The menu is seasonal with some classic pasta dishes. The chef is original and infuses some surprising tastes together. The staff are very friendly and considerate. The decor is relaxed and romantic. It is well worth a visit.
Love this place ! Excellent italian food ! Great wine !You pass in front of it and you cant see it ..... As soon as you get in it is really busy !Recommend as a very lovely local restaurant ! Great food and reasonable price make itone of our favorite in Holloway !
Tiny Italian, almost always fully booked, serving incredible seasonal menu. The staff are lovely and the service is swift. Quite noisy, it has a friendly atmosphere and a sophisticated palate. Get a sharing platter for starters and pick your way through beautifully cured ham and cheese, and more unusual crab salad, fresh young Puglian olives and melt-in-your mouth pate. There is quite a lot of variation according to the seasons, but the pasta is always beautifully made and the other ingredients are a wonderful mix of the expected and the unusual.
I came to this lovely place once, with a few friends from work and we had a really enjoyable evening. I brought my husband and it was great. So when it came to deciding where I wanted to celebrate my 50th birthday with 30 friends - I had no doubt.Absolutely loved it! Thank you all the staff.
The food is great. Excellent risotto with porcini mushrooms, my favourite. The meal was somewhat soured by one of the waiters accusing me of lying about my name in order to be seated. When the misunderstanding was explained he didnt apologise and was curt for the rest of the meal. The only reason I stayed was that the other waiter was lovely.Four stars for the meal with one deducted for the rude waiter.
This terrific, personally run Italian is old school, tiny and full of character. According to my opinion, its one of the under-rated, hidden gems in town. Food is simply executed, full of flavour and generous portions. Old-fashioned service adds to the atmosphere and the thoughtful wine list is a rewarding trek through Italys regional vineyards.
Im very lucky to have this Italian just round the corner from me. The food follows the traditional Italian menu style of a starter, pasta dish and then meat as a main, although you dont need to have all 3! On my last visit my parter and I shared the selection of starters which tastes even more amazing than it looks with its beautiful presentation. For my main I had the veal chop which was incredible, although one of the more expensive options on the menu. After these I had no room for pudding so I would be impressed if anyone could go and have the pasta course too. The décor is quite plain, but the food more than makes up for that. #Irishtini
Definitely 500 is a strange name for a restaurant, not to mention an Italian one, or is just me. Aside from that the food here is fantastic, a great variety of authentic Italian dishes, followed by high quality wines and other kinds of drinks. Cosy place, with a nicely design inside part, great decoration and on top of all a professional staff. Prices are reasonable, but even they werent I would still come here.
a tiny family run restaurant in a non-descript building on holloway road- who would ever believe the food could be so good. fresh italian food- menu changes regularly with daily specials a must-try. book a table as they are always full. you wont find a better local!
great food and atmosphere in the most unpromising of locations. vies for best italian in london. interesting twists on traditional italian salads (e.g. palm hearts and good mozzarella). excellent no-nonsense bottargha pasta dish. a superlative local restaurant that combines top quality food with the unpretentious welcome you dont get in destination restaurants.
More varied menu that the pizza and pasta fayre youd get at an average Italian. Lovely food and a great little venue. Can be noisy when its busy though. Its usually busy so best to book ahead
