3 Wise Monkeys Climbing Centre in Fort William
Description
Privilege
Nice climbing centre! They were very kind and they even let us some chalk that we didnt have. Also, cool spot in a church! To improve: the holds were a bit dirty, could be clean more often maybe. But overall, great experience! :)
MoreCoach Emma was patient but encouraging with our family, from ages 6 to 60, and a good time was had by all. Highly recommended.
MoreVery friendly staff, good bouldering gym to not stoo exercising when you are on vacation. Cool spot in a church
MoreVery fun and lots do to, café is very good and really friendly staff
Really friendly staff. Quick competence test, and a few pointers and good to go.We were rope climbing, small room but more than enough to get round, and quite technical which was nice. Will visit again and try out the bouldering room which looked great at a glance.
MoreMuir was a complete legend! I brought my son here for his first climbing experience during our stay in Fort William. We were so well looked after and Muir really help my son build his confidence, even helping him get to the top of the wall. Great facilities, helpful and welcoming staff team.
MoreLoved our try climbing session - never expected to get far off the floor but Hannah was brilliant and we all had a great time. Coffee was excellent too!
MoreIf you’re here to use the electric car chargers please be very careful when parking in the spaces. There is a steep drop at the end of the spaces, no bollards etc when I visited.
MoreFriendly staff. Smart setting and they have made really good use of the space. Also an amazing training and board room with loads of different angled boards. One of my new favourite centres!
MoreMy 6 year old son recently did the Try Climbing course here during the October holidays 2021 and thoroughly enjoyed it. He had never tried climbing or bouldering before and was smiling the entire 90 minutes! The instructor was fantastic with him, teaching him at the right level and made it a fun experience. Would highly recommend
MoreI came here mainly for bouldering and the climbing was good. There were lots of routes for all grades and I found the variation from my usual climbing wall interesting. I had a look at the training room and it contained three walls of app controlled routes and the usual campus boards. It also had a soft floor area (used for yoga I thinkand a great view over Fort William. I also had a look in at the roped climbing and there were plenty of routes. No auto belay though. Prices are a little higher than Ive seen elsewhere but not by much. I didnt try the cafe but it was popular.
MoreIncredibly friendly response. Decent bouldering wall and awesome lead climbing section. Was nice to be able to change between the two and the skills demo was done in a friendly but practical way
MoreWe booked a 1.5-hour climbing lesson for our two daughters (age 5 and 7while staying in Fort William. The younger one had never climbed before while the older one had only climbed twice. Siobhan, their instructor, was fantastic - enthusiastic and encouraging, adapting the climbs for each child’s ability. It’s a great climbing centre with a lovely cafe (good coffeeand great value. The kids had a great morning there and so did we - we watched from the viewing gallery over a coffee. If you’re looking to switch things up a bit on holiday in the Highlands or if you’re local, I thoroughly recommend climbing here.
MoreGreat hidden gem in Fort William, Instructor was brilliant and really made our little one enjoy her time! Great coffee too, would highly recommend!
MoreMy girls aged 12 and 6 have had great experiences here, they have been on a few occasions. The youngest particularly likes the bouldering and the eldest the climbing walls, today their instructor was Cal who gave them really good encouragement to push themselves and achieve personal bests.
MoreReally good. The instructor was friendly and helpful and was a very enjoyable 1 hour and 30 minutes. Would recommend for children and people on holiday or locals.
MoreKids attended the learn to climb session today. All of the staff were extremely friendly and professional. In particular the instructor was excellent with our two young climbers. He was really engaging, funny and had the perfect demeanour for teaching them the basics. Massive thumbs up all round.
MoreStumbled across 3 Wise Monkeys by chance on a trip to Fort William in June 21. Looking for something to do with our 11 & 14 y/o girls we gave 3WM a try. Reasonably priced and great tuition from the team. The girls were chuffed with their 12m high rope climbs and have asked to go back. Cant say better than that. And if you are hanging about for the lesson, they do really good coffee.
MoreAmazing place! Both the bouldering and the climbing wall are really well taken care of. The kids loved it! We will be back!
MoreFirst time doing anything like this before, a lot of variety from beginners to experts. Staff were nothing but helpful and patient. Other people there doing the climbs at a much higher level were helpful and friendly and it created a good atmosphere. Highly recommend anyone up for a challenge.
MoreGreat facility especially for entertaining youngsters for a few hours. We took a 5 and a 7 years old and spent 2.5 hours worth every penny and nice cafe also.
MoreStopped here to charge a car, and had a coffee in the climbing centre cafe. Helpful, friendly staff, great coffee, and by far the best car charging point on a Glasgow to Skye EV trip.
MoreWhat can i say about this place !! if you love the outdoors but cant be bothered getting soaked, get on down to three wise monkeys ! the ever changing bouldering wall is always presenting new challenges. for the more technical challenges they have the rope wall which the excellent staff are always on hand to help or give advice. plus the addition on the new hi-tech training area, there is limited amount of opportunity to enhance your climbing skills !! After you have burnt yourself out and wanting to chill out their coffee and home baking is a absolute GAME CHANGER ! by far one of if not the best wee gems in the Lochaber area. So stop wasting your time reading my review get on down to three wise monkeys !!!!
MoreWhile this is one of the smaller climbing gyms I’ve been to, that’s definitely the only downside! Super friendly staff, great bouldering and rope climbing routes, with a good variety of levels! Cheap entry (£9.50 on Sundaysand weekends are a bit busy, but was lots of fun.
MoreFantastic staff, great location and very cosy. The setting is wonderful and original, and the staff was very helpful. We were able to rent a climbing mat (very very cheaply!to go bouldering in the mountains.
MoreGreat bouldering and roped climbs. Big variety of climbs something for every grade. Friendly staff. You can hire shoes or anything else you need. Great valu for money.
MoreYou dont need to be a climber to enjoy this place. Great coffee and food, just off the high street. Its also a great place to climb .
MoreThree stars for climbing wall. Not a well organised setup with the cafe being reception also - means long waits on a rainy day. Also food sounded promising but I was disappointed. Burnt savoury waffle and a very dry thin sweet one. Staff are pleasant and helpful.
MoreThis is a great facility for a family day out. The bouldering room was great fun for us all including our 2 year old. Our 4 year old had a coached session on the roped wall and loved it so much we returned for another visit. Lovely homemade food in the cafe too. Staff are super and the atmosphere is relaxed, friendly and welcoming and made it really enjoyable for a family of beginners like us.
MoreGreat climbing wall. Love that its in a church, as it makes it more atmospheric. Theres a good bouldering wall and a decent climbing wall too with about 15-20 ropes with 3 routes on each rope. They also have a bit of a shop and a cafe too. Only quip Id say was they were maybe slightly understaffed as we had to wait quite a long time for a hot drink.
MoreAbsolutely fantastic place to take kids, even on a sunny day. The staff were brilliant with my three young nephews and really encouraged them to push themselves without being overbearing. The café is also brilliant value for money and the food is delicious. My boys are already hassling me to know when we can go back and visit again.
MoreSmall wall but good setting and the coffee is probably better than The Wildcat. Great vibe and really helpful staff.
MoreGreat staff, fun routes to climb, awesome music playing usually but importantly good coffee & cake. I quite often pop in to use WiFi and have a coffee. Thanks
MoreChildrens party consisting of 12 children learning to rock climb. Group made up of 7 year olds. Probably best to attend earlier than booking as paperwork has to be filled out for all children to take part. Staff are helpful and super supportive to all the learners. Equipment available for activities.
MoreGreat climbing space in the centre of fort William. Good selection of walls for all abilities and the staff are helpful for beginners. Good for a rainy day
MoreGreat climbing facilities. Hired kit which was better than the usual standard climbing harnesses which was nice to see. My 6 year old daughter was rope climbing and my 3 year old was on the bouldering wall. Staff were very friendly too. Definitely a place to visit for people wanting an active activity.
MoreIt was very fun. We did the instructional hour and a half. Instructor was lovely and very patient. Got to climb quite a lot which is better than I thought.
MoreWe stopped at the gym cafe on our way from Glasgow to Skye. The expresso (double shotand chai with a shot of expresso were the best drinks weve ever had. Flavors were perfectly blended, rich and delicious!
MoreAwesome staff and awesome walls. The facility is a cool converted church, and only a year old (as of June 2017). Everything is in great shape and the staff keep the entire place in perfect order.
MoreGreat little place to get a bouldering fix! Welcoming staff, great atmosphere and a nice café to top up the reserves.
MoreBeutiful spot in a converted church. Excellent opportunity to spend some good time children or adults especially when it rains but not only. Different grades of difficulty from novices to more experienced climbers, very supportive staff + cafeteria
MoreCool climbing, always changing it up, and staff always happy to help! Outdoor climbing opportunities available through three wise monkeys throughout the summer. All my love💛💛💛
MoreGreat to have a climbing wall in Fort William for the days when the weather is just far too bad to go out! Great atmosphere with some fantastic and fun routes to play on.
MoreI havent used the climbing walls yet, but there is a great wee cafe, serving the best coffee in town for the price. Asking for a strong coffee is always a must! The staff are crusty, but in a good way 😁. If you become a member then there is a discount in the cafe. Not a great selection of food. But ideal for a nice coffee & 🍪
MoreThis is a great place to go in Fort William on a rainy day. Or any type of weather day! The staff are absolutely superb, the cafe is crammed with unusual things to eat and drink, the prices are very reasonable, they have all the equipment you could need, what else can I say? Well done!
MoreGreat wet weather alternative for Fort William, set in an old church. Nice selection of bouldering problems upstairs including an awesome dodecahedron-based cave. Longer roped routes are downstairs, which are a little cramped when very busy but generally fine. Theres also a nice wee cafe overlooking the bouldering area.
MoreACE place. Given how wet the west coast can get its a great place for training. The route setting was all good. Cafe wasnt bad either.Larger climbing gyms should take note of how many quality problems and routes can be packed into a relatively small spaceWill definitely be back when I am in Fort William
MoreGreat climbing centre with good bouldering wall.As a regular visitor to Fort William, please consider doing a half day price or less just to use the bouldering wall?£8.50 is quite a lot compared to other walls, great that you can use it all day for that price, but personally, if you did a half day offer for £5 say, I would come more while I visit relatives up here.
MoreBooked my sons 9th birthday here and it was fab. Hannah their instructor combined safe climbing with lots of fun! We are so lucky to have this on our doorstep. I sat in the cafe watching while enjoying fantastic coffee- bliss! Thankyou three wise monkeys x
MoreVisited the wall for the first time this week. We are very impressed with what they have managed in there.A warm welcome upon entry, and all information was very clear in the Foyer.Paperwork was simple, and they were very thorough with making sure that you can do all the things required, ie demonstrate putting on a harness, tying knots, belaying...Dont be offended when they ask you to do it , it shows great care and attention to everyones safety. Even the top local climbers and Mountain Professionals have to do they same...The roped walls were good fun, as is the bouldering wall. We spent 3 to 4 hours there, and my forearms still ache while Im writing this.See you again, for sure...Rich and Monika
