200 Degrees Coffee Shop & Barista School in Madingou
Description
Privilege
Found by chance but what a place. The coffee, food and staff are all brilliant. We’ll be back again!
MoreReally great coffee, chai latte and hot chocolate! Great atmosphere and staff is friendly although they could slightly improve customer experience. Also can’t spell names of their pastries right “ pastel de nata” “pain au chocolate” ( seen in front of the croissants!!:/ Nevertheless I definitely recommend the place!
MorePreviously an outstanding coffee shop, this place is on the slide. Freezing cold inside and takeaway cups and plates only, 90 minutes before closing. Very disappointing.
MoreCute place to hang out. Rustic aesthetics and great coffee. What could possibly go wrong.
MoreLate train means I get time for coffee and enjoying this lovely coffee shop for a pitstop. Also grabbed a pack of coffee to take home. Delicious
MoreBusy, friendly coffee shop. Nice staff. Good choice of snacks on offer
One of the best cafes in brum. Warm atmosphere, great coffee and good vibes. Staff are always welcoming and kind. Only problem is it’s so popular there’s often only a couple spaces left to sit!
MoreWent to Birmingham for a footballgame and coffee shop hopping. 200 Degrees was the first place we got to and was hugely let down after reading all the reviews. Ordered Cortado to try them out and it was super dark roast beans, ultimately leading to burnt taste, slightly hidden by the milk.Service was nice and shop looked good. Review is for the place at 12 Lower Temple St.
MoreReally good coffee. An excellent little coffee shop with a great vibe.Located centrally. Dont go to a chain, support local businesses and enjoy
MoreNot a local, but my 3rd visit and it never disappoints. The decor is quirky and cosy Had the warm Chelsea bun this time. Melt in your mouth. Highly recommended
MoreTheir Dark Chocolate Brownie is really delicious, beautiful place, and the coffee (Americanois good but not the best.
MoreIt would be nice if your staff could clear the tables from previous guests. Sitting at the dirty table full of empty cups and glasses, for more than 45 minutes, isnt the level of service one would expect. Also, could you please train all your staff to make coffe. One woulnt expect to get this in a cafe that is also a barista school.
MoreGood coffee and prices. Nice chilled locale. Do not order the one with 400 calories though unless you are homeless and starving.
MorePopped in for a coffee on Sunday afternoon. Only 2 staff and place was full, the friendly hardworking staff did a great job and deserve recognition.
MoreReally busy but great coffee and cake and good location in town for a quick stop off or whilst waiting for a bus!
MoreChai latte didnt have a cinnamon stick, caramel latte was perfect. Staff serving was welcoming however the person who brought the drinks out was not. But still good coffee.
MoreFrom outstanding to mediocre in less than a year. I just waited 5 minutes for a flat white because the barista was telling her colleague about her new puppy and stopped working every time she spoke. The food offering looks just like any chain coffee shop now but the coffee is still good. Its a shame the barista boiled the milk making it too hot to drink. I wont be back.
Moregreat coffee but please don t put chocolate in my coffee without asking first !
Amazing coffee. Friendly and prompt service. The iced mocha is soooo good on a hot day.
MoreWe went on Saturday and it was quite busy. A totally nice place with great coffee and food. Staff are very friendly and polite. The wait wasn’t too long considering how busy it was. Good location as well so if you’re just shopping in town or just want to have a chat with friends, I’d recommend this cafe.
MoreOne of my favourite coffee shops in Birmingham, love the decor and never had a bad coffee here, food when I’ve had something has been great in most cases but afew things need to be reworked or made better… I wish though it opened later? Why do you close so early? Be great to have alternatives to going to a bar when out and about in the evenings, the area is mostly busy and buzzy and can’t understand why your not open till 10/11pm at least if not later? Maybe put on live music some nights, poetry readings, chilled DJs etc?The venue here would be perfect for that!
MoreGreat coffee! Not bitter. Lovely flavour. Friendly staff. Not a lot of room to wait for takeaway but that’s at no fault of the staff or business.
MoreQuite a bad experience here today. I ordered a coffee and a raspberry slice they handed me the raspberry slice and I sat outside(at a table that was littered with cups and saucersafter a while I realized there was something in my food and my coffee hadnt arrived yet so I went back in and mentioned this. They apologised and brought a new one out to me. You might have thought they might have cleared my table, but no, they left it in the mess I found it in and even though I asked for sugar I was directed back inside to where it was. Terrible service, I wouldnt stop back in here again.
MoreReally laid back coffee shop which you can enjoy and watch the day go by at. Great atmosphere and people.
MoreThis place is beautiful and the coffee is incredible, staff always polite so please don’t get this review wrong!!! Or be offended this is only feedback!!! however the time it takes to get a coffee is the biggest problem. Having to wait 10/15 min with one barista in a coffee shop of that size is the absolutely not on especially in the centre of the city where people are in a rush. This is not a sleepy town/city. Today I waited 10 min then left without a coffee and got a coffee elsewhere, I came back 7 min later in hope my coffee would have been ready. Only to be told the barista had 4 more orders … I couldn’t wait any longer and left without my drink. The aim of getting a drink out is extremely slow paced and too laid back. I get it that’s the vibe however get more staff or a better process of serving. Hopefully I will plan my trip next time with a 30/40 min free capacity time .
MoreLovely cafe with fantastic coffee. Both the house and the guest beans were delicious! Can’t wait to find an excuse to come back for another cappuccino.
MoreBeautiful coffee artwork here!Great service, lovely coffee and great location - recommend!!⭐
MoreYoung man took our order and explained the differences in the Espressos and other options. He also cleared our table as we were leaving. Very capable, approachable and attentive. Would love to go back when in the area.
MoreNice coffee shop just near Snow Hill station. Coffee was great but the chicken thingy (sandwichI had was average. But all in all, still recommended. Sort of 4.5 stars 👍👍
MoreUsually come here for lovely lovely coffee and left a fabulous review on my main account a while back. Unfortunately, today I decided to try the Chocolate Milkshake and my friend ordered a Strawberry milkshake. My chocolate milkshake was AWFUL. It was powdery, extremely sweet, it was not icy like a normal milkshake (it was just milky), and it tasted like remnants of other spoilt fruity drinks. This was the worst milkshake I have ever had honestly. I did not want to bother the staff because they were quite busy so I just left my milkshake on the table. My friend was given a berry smoothie instead of the Strawberry milkshake he asked for, but he corrected the server and she promptly brought his order. This milkshake was MUCH more tolerable than mine, as it did not taste like the blender was dirty and the milkshake was a little bit icy. It was not rich though, it just tasted like a watered down strawberry milk. Milkshakes are supoosed to be rich, creamy and full of flavour. I was thoroughly disappointed and I wish I could get my 3.85£ back. Please dont order anything other than coffee as your drink here!
MoreMy go to place in town. Spanish latte is my fav and the staff are always nice and friendly. Sometimes it can be very busy but its understandable. Recommended to all of my friends lol
MoreExcellent cafe.Great coffee, amazing interior.Clean washrooms and good staff.Sandwiches and cakes also look tasty.Really nice venue to relax, have a coffee and read a book.
MoreFirst impressions:- Arrived at 1pm was not too busy- Cosy atmosphere- Decent coffee - V60- Food was okay- Bit pricy- Staff werent not not that welcoming, didnt see one single smile to me or any other customer. But coffee was decent, was comfortable for me to grab my ipad and read a book comfortably
MoreGreat coffee shop! I hotdesk here sometimes and the atmosphere is great, staff are all friendly and the toasted almond croissants are unreal
MoreCame in here for a drink and cake mid afternoon.Very busy and we were lucky to get a table.Ordered through the app and had to wait quite a while for our drinks to arrive, our waiter brought the drinks over and had to check, that the drinks he was bringing us what we had ordered.Asked for cinnamon bun to be warmed up, but was advised, that the oven was broken and that would have to have it cold, as they wouldnt be able to fix the oven till the following week.
MoreMy second visit to a coffee shop in Birmingham on my quest to review every coffee bar in Birmingham for Google Maps. The weather was fine so I sat outside. When entering the immediate impression one gets is of the stunningly beautiful ambience and decor, also the lighting makes one feel extremely relaxed immediately. The young lady who served me was very polite and offered excellent customer service. I did not eat anything here today but I have had a cake before, it was delicious. I cannot judge the food until I have tried, review to follow. My cappuccino was beautifully balanced not too strong not too weak served at the correct temperature. If you are visiting Birmingham, do not hesitate to visit this wonderful coffee shop and bar it is undoubtedly one of the best in Birmingham, you will not be disappointed. 😁Ambience - 10Service - 10Coffee - 10Food- To followPlease note my reviews are done with the utmost integrity and honesty. I have spent over 40 years visiting coffee bars across the world. I will always try to be objective about my reviews and never subjective. If I notice things are wrong I will always inform you, so that you do not waste your time and money and face a disappointing coffee morning, which is very important to all of us.Please note, wheelchair users would not have a problem in entering or leaving this coffee shop. Public toilets are downstairs, so you would not be able to use them.
MoreLOVE 200 degrees. Coffee is second to none and the oat milk hot chocolate is a pure delight! Staff are friendly and knowledgable about ingredients and allergies. Friendly staff and a nice overall environment - my go to coffee shop!
MoreLovely chill out morning at this coffee house, good atmosphere and morning muffins were delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful with the order
MoreVery nice coffee and cake, the place is huge and lots of seats and tables are available, friendly staff and great atmosphere, 4 tables available outside. Finally, it considered to be one of the best coffee shop in Birmingham. Location not that far from New Street station.
MoreThese is an amazing find for all coffee lovers and connoisseurs in or visiting Birmingham. The coffee shop itself is very stylish with a very cool urban, almost steam punk feel to the decor. The staff are friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable and incredibly skilled as baristas. They have a full espresso bar available, as well as a variety of teas and milkshakes as well as providing oat and soy milk alternatives. For me the best part was their v60 brew bar. The coffee is incredibly made, well rounded and beautiful to drink. On top of this they also have a selection of lunch items, a selection of coffees and coffee equipment for sale and a barista school training centre located in their basement.
MoreOkay, so 200 degrees coffee is a chain, but it’s a bloody good coffee shop that is still in touch with its independent roots. The staff care about coffee, each is an expert in their field willing to divulge their extensive experience. Jeez, if you want a lesson you can have that too. Just book yourself into one of many Barista school classes. At 200 degrees they serve coffee to high level, artisan standards. Expect flat white’s to be served with coffee art finesse. The Birmingham branch is huge, dark, deep and beautifully lit with range of acute lighting fixtures. I love the comfy rocking chairs by the red light neon fire. One of its many quirky touches. It’s a relaxed and comfortable environment. If you’re over at Colmore Row in need of a shopping break I recommend heading here.
MoreAlways hard to find a place to sit, but the coffee is decent and they have a good selection of cakes/sandwiches. Only wish they cover them as its easy for people to cough over items and have flies hovering around. Staff are mostly friendly but try to visit in off peak hours if you want a comfier seat!
MoreAs one would expect for a "boutique" style coffee shop.Coffee is quite floral and light, easy to drink. So if like me you prefer a darker flavour (Nerothen perhaps not the one for you. However, the cold brew coffee, whilst a little expensive is actually pretty good! Worth a try.
MoreGreat place to meet up with friends or just to hang out on your own. Chilled atmosphere. Lovely service from the friendly staff. They have a good selection of cakes, sandwiches and coffees, but I only drink hot chocolate and it was gorgeous. It tasted of rich plain chocolate, possibly Belgian or a fair-trade variety. I had 2 cups, a yummy sausage and Stilton sandwich (which the warmed up for me, thats why the salad looks wiltedand a rich chocolate brownie.
MoreI originally wrote a review when I first started visiting but google ate it! So here goes my second attempt....They staff are always polite and helpful, I messaged them on Facebook before my first visit to see if I was to bring in my own cup, would they be able to make my drink in it. They responded quickly and let me know that they would and Id also get 10% discount on my drink for doing so. In the few monts that I have been going, the staff have continued to be lovely. I especially enjoy the fact that in the mornings there are staff who will still spend the time adding foam art to the top of my takeaway hot chocolate even though I will be putting a lid on it. **On a side note the hot chocolate is amazing - it is made from melted chocolate so is smooth and rich with no powder left at the bottom** In this hot weather if you have a takeaway cold drink you can also get 10% off when you bring your own cup (though this sometimes seems to vary depending on the staff/cup I bringI would recommend bringing your own as while I support the change to paper straws it does make for a different taste experience that isnt all that pleasant (to me personally)To end I would wholeheartedly recommend visiting 200 Degrees regardless of whether or not you like coffee (which I dont!as you are sure to find a drink you will enjoy :0)P.S. I would also like to point out that their A-board outside the shop continues to make me smile with the various plays on words or artwork it displays. It changes regularly and remains on point with local events and news.
MoreAmazing independent coffee shop with real character. Lovely layout and always warm and welcoming. Very good to see an independent coffee shop so busy. Well done keep up the good work. Oh and great coffee too!
MoreLocated opposite Birmingham Cathedral, 200 degrees serves great coffee and has a lengthy food menu. The atmosphere is relaxed and staff friendly and welcoming. Disabled access is good, with accessible toilets on-site.
MoreOne of my favourite cafe in town! Love the atmosphere and the staff here too. Always make me feel very warm and comfy. Absolutely love the coffee too 😍
More200 Degrees is my favourite cafe in Birmingham and I regularly frequent it for a nice cup of joe. The coffee is lovely and strong, but is brewed so well that its smooth and velvety in your mouth. It doesnt taste diluted like many big name coffee chains or have that acidic taste some other independent cafes do. My favourite order is the flat white here, which is prepared perfectly, latte art and all on every cup, by the super friendly staff. I love the ambience and the spaciousness 200 offers that most cafes dont, and youd be hard pressed to not find a table. Theyve also got barista classes, cold drinks, cold brew and nitro brew, pastries and deserts as well as a deli counter.
MoreNice coffe, nice croissant with ham and cheese, cool place, open from 9:30, clean toilet.Latte cost £2,90,
