18th Amendment Spirits Co. - Cocktail bar in Muskegon, United States
This place rocks.Great cocktails made with their own spirits. I had the smoked old fashioned and really enjoyed it. Others in my group enjoyed their drinks too.Atmosphere is cool. Space makes you wonder what it was like back in the day. Decor and bar fit the atmosphere well.Service was good. We received our food very quickly.Pizza and truffle fries tasted great. The Tommy guy on the wall is an excellent finish.
Stopped in for drinks & dinner and was overwhelmed with great service from Ayla. She gave us drink recommendations, whixh we enjoyed. We split the Hot Honey pizza which was wonderful, but a bit too spicy for us. So we have to pull off the jalapeños. Still delicious!
The cocktails, pizza and atmosphere were all extraordinary.
Really enjoy this place. Great atmosphere and vibe. Wood fired pizza is iconic. Drinks are vintage with an new world twist. Always have fun with out of town guests and live music. See you soon…
Visited from out of state when we drove by the exterior and decided to check it out for lunch. Awesome prohibition style interior. Love the original brick and mortar design. The wood fire pizza is outstanding and the craft cocktails are very tasty.
Went there for a late lunch/dinner today. We got the soft pretzel appetizer and it wasn’t that good, it was more like a salted bread than a pretzel, the beer cheese was ok. I ordered a pizza and it was undercooked and soggy. I don’t feel the food was worth the money I paid
Great atmosphere, fun experience, beautiful area.
What a great find on a hot day! The patio was fantastic as we were traveling with our dog. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we were all comfortable and enjoying a beautiful afternoon.
After going to the farmers market my boyfriend and I ventured in to the 18th Amendment for lunch. Our waiter came over and we asked what pizza we should get and he recommended a couple. I asked him to surprise us. He brought us their chicken, bacon, ranch pizza. It is hands down the best pizza weve ever had. We will definitely be going back!
Love that they have vegan options but I’m not sure the kitchen/chef understands what “vegan” is.I ordered a caesar salad because the menu said it had a vegan option. I was told that the dressing isn’t vegan and was given the option of balsamic instead. Tasted fine, but that’s not a caesar salad, folks. Having vegan options means you’re offering the SAME meal with vegan ingredients — not a different meal.
Beautiful and historic building. One of the most unique interiors in West Michigan! Those celebrating weddings, birthdays, engagements, retirement parties, etc would be hard pressed to find better photo opps for the price! Come for the views and environment, stay for the drinks and desserts!
We went on a weekday afternoon with few people. Quick service - and their bourbon is delicious! I bought a bottle after just passing through. I recommend skipping their whiskey though; it is really, really harsh. Loved the decor inside the place.
SECOND AND THIRD TRIP HERE 7/2/22 UPDATE:It makes me sad to write this but I have to knock two stars off. Two. One for service and one for kitchen. The last two times weve come in food was brought to the table cold. Not just like it had cooled off, but more like it was never fully heated through. Service was... Painfully slow and orders were not accurate. I really hope its a fluke and I realize that its a holiday weekend but thats never an excuse for cold food. Slow service? Sure. Poor service? No. We hope that these issues get resolved soon because of how much we loved our first experience.FIRST TRIP HERE:Listen. Ive been gluten-free and dairy-free for over four years now. This place has, HANDS DOWN, the best GF crust Ive ever had. Better than Mitten Brewing and thats saying a lot. Theirs is awesome too. But 18th Amendment knocked it out of the park. Great atmosphere, super friendly staff. We should have come here for more than a cocktail way sooner! Leaving this review before weve even left the restaurant! I never do that.
7 staff standing around, only one serving the two tables present. Menu items were out of stock, chicken bacon ranch pizza had no bacon, and they managed to make a bad tasting Caesar salad (mustard?). Didn’t even bother with getting a drink the same price as an entree. Women’s restroom had no toilet paper
Very nice place. Did not try any of the food so this is based on the drinks only, which were good but for $16 per drink seems pretty steep for the little cocktail that I got. It was good but it was maybe 3 sips.It just seemed like $32 (plus tipfor 2 drinks was steep when I saw the whole bottle for sale @ $50.I may return for the pizza although as it looked very good.
Great food and awesome service! Tons of Veg-friendly options on their new menu.
We come from Grand Rapids just to see what vintage clothes Kasey is wearing! She is fabulous! The food and spirts are great too!
Alec was a great bartender all 4 of us got the Dealers Choice and they were amazing and unique 👌. Also super nice and professional love and will definitely come back.
Working on 1 hour and 45 minutes on a Saturday mid day to get a drink and a pizza. Only 4 tables seated and 1 person serving the whole place.
I am the traveler. The 18th is one of my favourite places to stop when I come to Muskegon. Always a fantastic atmosphere, with great service. This is an establishment that takes the up most pride in creating amazing drinks and cocktails, and food. All their juices are fresh squeezed right on premises, even make their own simple syrup. The Chef Ben, I believe is one of the best food artist in Muskegon, always trying to come up with new creations and keeping the originals tasting amazing. The filet sliders are the best sliders you will find in a 10 state area, their artisan wood fired pizza’s untouchable. And the spinach dip oohhh so goood. Today I tried the Mulberry Hibiscus Sour this weeks drink special, and it was a delicious concoction designed by Chloe delightful bartender that creates her very own cocktails this being one of the. My personal favourite is the Chesterfield, this is an Amazing drink made with Bourbon, Cinnamon Simple Syrup, & Orange Bitters served in a smoke filled bottle from their very own wood chips. Shake the bottle for a second and then poor over large ice cube. The smoke give this drink one of the most unique flavours I’ve had. If you like bourbon and smoked things this drink is right up your alley. If you are around this summer you must try the peanut butter pie, melts in your mouth. Highly recommend a visit if you are anywhere near. Please follow on Facebook to see weekly specials.
The Bourbon ice cream with bacon was my favorite of the desserts! So vanillay and balanced with the little salty bacon pieces. Will order next time too.
Worse service Ive ever experienced, manager was rude and not professional. Our group of 20 people, adults with kids, were asked to leave. Accused us of actions we did not do, never experienced anything like this in my life.
Great drinks and an amazing atmosphere inside an old bank. The restaurant is roomy and open with lots of amazing history preserved inside. The food is great and the drinks are even better :)
My girlfriend and I went there for their $50 new years special. The wait staff excellent. The food was brutal. It was tasteless and the chicken was over cooked badly. The drinks were weak. The martini was more lemon and not pear. Prices per drink were more suitable for California and not Muskegon Michigan. I would not ever go back.
Went to have drinks Saturday night. Was seated. A young man brought water over to our table and said "be right back". 37 mins later not one person stopped at our table to check on us or take our order. Plenty of staff and no one was doing much. It truly wasnt that busy, and now I understand why. Our waiter just disappeared. I was embarrassed to sit there and be ignored. Heard so much hype about this place. Finally after all the wait just stood up and left. How horrible. Will be telling everyone about my experience, or lack there of.
I always enjoy the ambiance of 18th amendment. It’s got the look of prohibition but with windows. Hahaha. The bar is all wood and the walls look like they are crumbling. The drinks there are strong and more of a sipping kind. I tell people not to be surprised if you pay $13 for a small drink. It’s not a place to slam drinks and get drunk. I got The Chesterfield. It’s a bourbon that they put in a bottle and add smoke. When it comes to your table you can leave the bottle closed for however long you want. The long the smoke is I. The bottle the more smoke flavor you bourbon will have. It comes with a glass and ice to pour your bourbon over. It was $14.The other drink was a dealers choice. The waitress ask what kinda alcohol you like or don’t like and the person I was with said they like rum and vodka and sweet and definitely fruity drinks. She got some concoction of vodka and muddled berries and simple syrup. She looooved it. That was $13. And her glass had a super cute cut out design.
Its been fine before but today was not a good lunch. Our two salads took 30 minutes+ to arrive then didnt have dressing one one of them. Itd be a little more understandable if there was a rush but there were plenty of staff and we were the only customers when we sat down. Soda was flat and we were told they use a generic soda brand that might taste different?I get that the service industry has it challenges but when you charge $18 for a Cesar salad with steak the kitchen staff should at least make an effort. Server was very apologetic and seemed pretty embarrassed.
Super cute place. Must see it to appreciate. We had the bartender make us a drink based on our likes and dislikes. Believe me I am picky. They nailed it with the drinks and the fire brick pizza was amazing.
Delicious, well crafted drinks. Food was delicious, and our server was polite and quick. We will be visiting again soon!
Great DRINKS..Great 🍕....Great Customer Service. Did I mention GREAT DRINKS!!! REMINDS ME OF A SCENE FROM PEAKY BLINDERS!!!
This restaurant is very specific. I took my family here, party of 6, It was not kid friendly for us. The lemonade was incredible. The food was okay and salty. It was not worth the price I spent to eat here. I am glad to experience it for the first time as I have walked by it many times. I just wont need to return. I also felt the staff was not welcoming or attentive.
Atmosphere & staff was great! Our server was very friendly and attentive. The bar fries and pizza was very tasty- would definitely order them again. The reason why I only gave 4 stars is because of the desserts. The peach crumble the ice cream in my opinion was just too strong of a bourbon flavor and some of the peaches we very hard in texture. Then the other dessert the bacon tasted good, but once again there was a strong flavor of bourbon (I believe it was in the carmel). I personally would not order either again, but someone else might enjoy that flavor.
Called to place an order to go and when I got there to pick it up there was no pizza! I was told well put that in right now, had to wait another 20 min after calling ahead, wasnt offered any kind of discount for their mistake. Hopefully the pizza is good but apparently service is still getting worked out...Update: the pizza was NOT worth $20 I would absolutely recommend Little Caesars over this...its definitely targeted at people who are 3-4 sheets in the wind, if you appreciate good food PLEASE avoid this establishment.
Service was great, atmosphere was amazing (a bit too hipster-ish for us, but super cool if thats what youre into). We asked what appetizer was recommended and got the spinach artichoke dip. It did not disappoint! The pita was amazing, clearly homemade and the dip was super cheesy with onion. We all loved it. Drinks are very strong :We didnt do dinner so I cant speak about the rest of the menu.
I was hoping to be a bit more impressed by the food here, unfortunately the burger left much to be desired. The meat was a bit overseasoned. The seasoning on the fries was good, but they were a bit cold and undercooked. On a positive note, the atmosphere was great and the service was excellent. The pizzas also looked good, so perhaps that is the way to go.
I enjoyed my visit here. The spirits were great and the band was pretty good as well. I had a vodka and soda with extra lime and a screwdriver and both were good, although the screwdriver was made with an orange flavored syrup as opposed to real orange juice but it was still palatable. The venue was an old bank with very high ceilings so the atmosphere feels comfortable and open, but because of this I feel that the music from the band was harder to hear clearly.I highly recommend visiting this place the bar is long with plenty of seating and the bartenders were very friendly.
Can I give this place 6 stars?????? I love it, I asked the waitress what kind of drinks they had that were fruity and the bartender whipped me up my own custom drink! The waitress was so sweet and perfectly timed every time we needed something, the setting is speak easy worthy. Definitely recommend!!!!
Went there for Valentines dinner had good cocktails and food.
We stopped into 18th Amendment on our wedding day (10/31/2020). Not only were we able to get some amazing photos, but the atmosphere is truly breathtaking. I love the aesthetic and history that comes with the building. Not to mention the drinks and food are to DIE FOR. Staff was very friendly and totally accommodating. Bought a couple of fifths from here for our groomsmen too and they loved it! Thank you so much for the COVID friendly experience! Will 100% be back!
Bomb.com place and lovely drinks. Two suggestions, plant citronella plants outside or maybe place safe candles with off scent🤷♀️. The skeeters had a feast lol. Also, I just wished my distiller signed my bottle of rum😢. Hubby tried to get it done for our 12 wedding anniversary as he has at different anniversaries at different places.... Heeven went back to the bar area, but alas it was not done.
The place has a super cool atmosphere. The service at the bar was great but after being seated we didnt see a waiter for at least 15 minutes. Overall, the food was delicious. However, we ordered the Steak Frites and asked the meat be cooked to medium temperature. We noticed right away that it was rare and asked it be cooked more. After the food was returned, we noticed part of it was still rare. The waiter apologized and said hed talk to the manager, which he never did. We were very disappointed in the waiter as we only saw him about three times the entire time we were there.
Nice staff. Variety of food and drink selections. I tried the falafel on flatbread and it was delicious! Also super unique atmosphere with a view!
This is one of the most unique and tasteful bars I have ever been to! Very classy atmosphere with an amazing selection of delicious food and high quality drinks. I had the Chesterfield, which was a full drink experience all by itself. Our server was fantastic, and the live music was very fun. This place makes me wish that all of the other five stars I have ever given were four stars just to emphasize how great it is.
The atmosphere and drinks alone are enough to visit 18th Amendment. I was starry eyed as soon as I walked through the door. I loved the bar (nice selection, but no beer fyi), the chandeliers, and the bathroom signage! 😂 We got one of the pretzels for our appetizer and it was mouth wateringly soft and fluffy. If a pretzel and a croissant had a baby it would be this pretzel. Also I loved all the different seating options! You can sit at tables, hang out at the bar, or chill with a drink on a comfortable couch. I look forward to a return visit.
It doesnt even feel like you are in the little ole town of Muskegon ! This very cosmopolitan establishment in the heart of downtown Muskegon is sure to please ! The atmosphere is trendy and comfortable, the staff is attentive and professional and the nuvo cocktails delight ! Prepare to Watch Muskegon Go !
A gem in Muskegon! Great atmosphere, food and drinks. They think outside the box. The Gandy Dancer pizza has figs, chèvre and walnuts, very good and original. They make a great charcuterie plate, love their wood fired pretzel, two versions of bar fries which both are delicious; many great options to choose from!
What a treat! I dont even know where to start! The building itself is just beautiful, exposed brick, artfully decorated, spacious and cozy at the same time. Very welcoming. The service was perfect, from the greeting to the ordering, service, and final bill. Now...the drinks! Amazing, crafted with innovation and perfection. The bourbon is so smooth, a bottle to take home was a must. The food...wood fire pizza, whitefish dip, artichoke dip, stuffed peppers, olive dip, sweet corn dip....all AMAZING! Too bad this place isnt closer to home for it would definitely be a regular spot for us! Thank you for a good experience, great drinks and delicious food.
On a hot day, while meandering a nice Art Show, I passed the 18th Ammendment. Im a sucker for old architecture with a new twist. I popped inside (and not just for the air conditioning). The vintage pieces were a nice addition to the utilitarian modern pub features. To provide a proper review, I HAD to try a beverage. I asked the bartender what was the signature drink. "The Trolly" was the quick answer. I asked for one but with half the alcohol. It was excellent. Bright flavor, very crisp and refreshing, and deceptively tasty. At full strength, I could see two of these babies being my Waterloo.I highly recommend Ammendment 18, just be sure to call an taxi when you leave.
Take a step back in time to prohibition. Hands down the most unique and needed addition to downtown Muskegon. Great variety of cocktails to suit any taste, and will make you feel like youre sitting in a speakeasy. We love it so much we had some of our engagement photos taken there.
We walked by after seeing a show at The Frauenthal and were lured in by the live jazz. We split the pretzel, and the two of us could barely finish it. I had a mojito made with the house rum and it was also very good. The inside was an old bank so it has the large open feeling with the high ceilings. It will definitely be a regular stop for us.
