12th Street Cafe in Muncie

The food was not the best. The tenderloin was very disappointing. It was so small, they used a dinner roll for the bun.

Food was awful my tenderloin was burnt I didnt get anything but the sandwich got charged for the whole meal which was not supposed to happen, any way first and last time we will be going there !!!

The new owners have wrecked an institution... Eaten at the previous owners restaurant numerous times and always enjoyed it. prices were Fair portions were Fair service always good... The service is still good under new ownership but the menu is scaled back the portions are smaller and the prices are higher... Dont see ourselves going there again anytime soon... We are absolutely bummed out that it turned out the way it did... The new owners should have left everything like it was!!! Unfortunately were not the only couple that feels that way... If changes arent made well see yet another diner go out of business!!! So sad

Asked for crispy bacon, but what I got was barely done. Biscuits and gravy had no flavor. Very bland meal overall!

The food was good price right nice staff

I tell you what Menards has everything you need. Including employees which you can ask questions to and they can direct you to what you need. What an awesome concept. Lowes needs to do that as well doubt it.

Service was great but it all tasted like it came out of a frozen box. Quality of food was not great.

The food tasted homemade not frozen. I think they could even raise their prices on their food theyre really inexpensive and super tasty. Will definitely be going there for our breakfast and lunch needs.

I used to work here as a waitress and almost everything they do here is illegal and wrong. The owners are awful and money hungry. They only pay half of their staff, and the waitresses get tips untaxed and not accounted for. When I got hired on, I was told I would make “around $3-$4/hr” as a waitress. The first Friday comes, and after being told I would be paid weekly, I expected a paycheck. One of the owners told me I would get it the following Friday. The following Friday came and I was finally told that they were not paying us at all without reason. They also don’t let anyone but an owner run the cash register. So instead of being able to help the customer, you have to get the rude owner who has no sense of customer service or business. Their food is mediocre for the price. The girls I waitressed with were great and fun people, besides the one that the owners allowed to steal tips off the table and take smoke breaks every 10 minutes. It was our job to rush to the table before her to grab our money. Her previous boss had even told the staff that she was fired for doing the same thing at the last restaurant.

1st time & last time for Biscuits & gravy yuck one bite went to trash

Terrible experience waited almost 50 minutes for food all the tables around us got food our waitress never came and checked on us another had to stop by and refill our drinks never stopped by and said Im sorry for your wait or anything didnt even get us silverware had to gonup front and ask for that food wasnt even warm when it came out after all that time will not be back

Great service I had beautiful people friendly the foods that I had was good very good beef Manhattan mashed potatoes salad was Chris p I highly recommend the place good home cooked meal served fast

The food was great the water was cold I paid the bill and I left

New owners now called Sams place. New Cook nice clean.Highly recommend

Loved it! Really good, fresh off the griddle Patty Melt. The French fries were cooked perfect. Well go back in a couple of days!

Just want to say THANK YOU to the hard working waitresses, kitchen staff and the new owners..My Aunt and Uncle are very regular patrons at Sams and I join them at least a couple times a week ...These wonderful people are patient, kind and service could not be better..I appreciate them so much ..Definitely family oriented with a good home cooked meal waiting for you..

This place feels very homey and the people there are welcoming. The food there is Fantastic no matter what you get. If you are looking for a good breakfast, The morning special is amazing and customizable. It is an amazing place if you are just looking for that nice, cozy local diner in town.

The remodel looks amazing.Only thing I would do differently is a different menu.

It is what is is; a greasy spoon diner with inexpensive daily specials and a homey atmosphere! Never have had an issues and the staff is always accommodating!

My food was awful. They comped my meal and I did my best not to complain but I had the steak and eggs for breakfast. The eggs lacked any flavor and tasted powdered while the steak was inedible. It smelled like spoiled meat and appeared to have been boiled. The rest of my groups food was also sub par.

Great food, and service in a timely manner. Decor was pleasant, staff friendly and accommodating.

I have been an employee for over a year now and i work 6 days a week and ive gotten to know all of my customers by name and they know my name as well. I can go to my regular customers tables and take them their drinks and know what their going to order before they tell me. I get a long with all my fellow employees except for one new girl whom has rubbed me the wrong way but other than that we are all like family its about teamwork and we care about each other to where if your absent we miss you. It feels good to hear compliments that your a good hard worker even if you mess up on tickets from time to time lol. I love my job. I may not make a killing but i have gained a family who a couple has become friends. Ive gained knowledge and experience and ive earned respect and appreciation. Ive never ate a meal that wasnt good.

My waitress for scatterbrained couldnt remember my order is it my food on the plate too small and it ended up wearing half of it on my lap the other half I couldnt because the letters rotten and the tomatoes were frozen and it was an all-around was disgusting not worth the $40 I paid

We tried all the breakfast places in Muncie when we were there last week. This was our favorite. Flavorful sausage. Fried mush was crispy and yummy. And the waitresses were friendly and helpful. We might have been the only people under 70 in the place, and we were pegged right away as from out-of-town. But if Im ever back in Muncie, Ill be there every morning.

The fried potatoes were the best Ive had in a long time. Biscuits and gravy was terrible though! Service was amazing!

Enjoyed the food, company, service and atmosphere. We had the all you can eat fish. It was very good and the rolls were yummy!! Strawberry rhubarb pie!!

I have always wanted to try this place out. Every time I pass by the parking lot is always full. Every restaurant that I try I always try their biscuits and gravy first. Their biscuits were very dry but their gravy was good. I also enjoyed their potatoes, eggs, and bacon and french toast.

I absolutely love their food. I also love their staff...all of them are helpful and friendly and really try to make your time there enjoyable.

Its small, quiet and cheap.Got myself a cheeseburger and fries. Cant go wrong with that combo. The toppings were a little lacking. Only tomato lettuce and pickle. No option for onion or condiments or even type of cheese.That being said, the flavor of the burger was great! The fries were very crispy and flaky. Again no offer of ranch or really anything to dip your fries into except the ketchup on the table.Our server was nice, and attentive. Elderly woman on oxygen that didnt look to be in great health. What she lacked in speed she more than made up for in kindness!Ill definitely be returning to try more staples.Also like most hole in the wall places, it didnt seem very clean. My table and chair we both sticky. To top it off the woman on the grill looked like she has only had her one outfit for a few years. Visibly very soiled clothing. Didnt notice that til I was leaving.

It made me feel I was in a mom-and-pop restaurant the atmosphere made me feel at home specially the black and white square floors I was brought up and small restaurants with that flooring service was great the food was good my friend was with me hes been there before I am visiting from California I am at the field with the AMA Flyers I will be coming back to the 12th Street Diner again thank you this is Miriam Im California

We are regulars here and enjoy the staff. Sandy the night manager is always AMAZING and the food is good. Highly recommend for a home cooked meal.

Ordered food from here on 6/16/2021. I got food poisoning from the Taco salad. The roast beef was tough and the bun was hard. Gave my dad about a tsp of salad dressing. No employees had their mask on their faces ( under their chinsand no gloves. Wont go back.

Nice neighborhood dinner. Mom and Pop type place. I like thier biscuits and gravy but even though they stop serving it after 2pm( it.was going on 3 when I got thereThe waitress offered to ask if there was any gravy left that they could heat up. A short time later she brought me my order. I was really not feeling like having anything off the lunch menu. I got to eat breakfast that I was wanting when I came through the door even though it was after the time its served. Not many places would do that. The place is always clean and picked up. The noise level isnt ever a problem. Enjoyable place to get lunch

Just ordered this in for my friends and I from DoorDash and it was sooo good. I have dietary issues and this is probably the first time in a long time I haven’t felt sick from eating breakfast food. Really awesome quality. Thank you!

Honestly might be the best breakfast in Muncie. I ordered the fried mush having no idea what that meant and it was really good! I’m not going to tell you what it is either. That’s your adventure to have.My omelette was really good and the staff was very friendly! It’s a good classic American cafe.

I called to order ahead for pickup. I was placed on hold, which I didnt mind since it was dinner time and they were probably busy. I then heard gossip and swearing from the other side of the phone which persisted until I hung up.After ten minutes, we had driven there, so I hung up and my girlfriend went in to order since we hadnt had any luck over the phone.Upon entering, someone-presumably a patron of the restaurant-hacked up some mucus and spit it at her feet.Needless to say, we wont be back.

Dont go here...Takes forever to get your food and it comes out cold. Country fried steak was hard and mashed potatoes were cold , old grease to fry your food. Sauce on my husbands ribs was like ketchup and brown sugar Only thing hot was his mac and cheese and it was probably microwaved .

I would say that years ago this place was a decent place to eat.. now days its horrible!!! The benches have springs popping through and they are so broke down it’s not even funny!!! The tables are dirty every time we go in you have to ask for a rag so you can clean it yourself!! The food is always cold and they make you feel like your an inconvenience if you ask for them to warm it up!! I would be ashamed to say this is an ideal small town restaurant!!! No hospitality what so ever!!!!

The service was quick. The waitress was friendly and efficient. My coffee cup was monitored and refilled as needed. The food was good.i ordered breakfast at noontime and it was great. Western omelet wt gravy on side. They also have lunch specials.
