11 Westside - Mexican restaurant in Hong Kong, Hong Kong
11 Westside in Hong Kong
Description
Privilege
Great fresh guacamole, flavorful tacos, pleasant ambiance. The high top tables in the middle are super high, almost comically high, but the kind waitress will push your chair in for you after you sit down, haha.
MoreMixed experience. Loved the venue, the tacos were great and the freshly made guacamole was a true winner. However, it was partially let down by some rude staff and mains that were definitely not authentic. If you go, go for the guac and tacos.
MoreGreat food, terrible service. Seems like staff arent trained on common courtesy and the menu of the restaurant. Its not the employees fault – a restaurant that cares about investing in their own employees dont have staff like these. Owners, please invest in your employees. Also $50/60 for a taco is pretty steep.
MoreWent here for a 9pm taco Tuesday dinner, had a lovely time and the atmosphere was nice. They make the quacamole at your table so it’s nice and fresh but for our tastebuds could’ve use more lime and garlic. The fish taco was amazing and the best one we had. The other Alpastor was good too. We didn’t enjoy the carnitas and pollo as much, felt like a mush of one flavour throughout.I think the taco Tuesday deal made it worth the trip 😊
MoreTaco Tuesday, not easy to book but once you’re able to it’s well worth it!!Great value, fantastic tacos, Excellent service! Don’t forget to order the churros as dessert!
MoreFlawless, absolutely amazing, the food was perfect 10/10All the flavours and fresh ingredients were incredible.Wish I had a bigger tummy to eat more!Baja Fish tacos were the best by far, we ordered more at the end because they were so good.Service was amazing too very attentive and helpful! Thank you
MoreThe decor is quirky and they have a great play list. The service can be a bit slow. The food is decent though nothing special. For the prices, I would expect to be blown away.
MoreWhile this restaurant may be a little challenging to find, It is worth the effort to get there. You have to find and climb up the side stairs to get to the restaurant. The food is very good and the vegetarian options are delicious as well. The seating is a little old and worn out and should be replaced but, if you can overlook this, you will have a great meal with great service.
MoreSome of the best tacos in town
Initially chaotic and rushed check-in experience and left waiting for the table to clear, but once seated a brilliant Mexican dining experience. Fresh guacamole made at the table is a must. Various assortment of half-priced tacos on Tuesdays also cannot be beaten. Reservations essential. Will be back again soon.
MoreVery yummy and authentic Mexican food. Ordered the tacos, quesadilla and tortilla and chips. It was very appetizing and definitely filled me up. The environment was very cozy and service was acceptable. Only con is that it is costly.
MoreAmazing tacos, Ive been coming here whenever I have a craving! Everything on the menus good (except the horchata, its a bit to sweet), and relatively fair priced. I personally recommend the carne asada and baja fish tacos!
MoreDelicious Mexican tacos , but at a steep price. It is fantastic for an infrequent indulgence, but can be lacking quickly as the choice overall is little. The must tries that I believe is a sin to not order is the mango shrimp and fish tacos. That single handedly boosted this rating from a 3 to 4 star.
MoreThis is the place for tacos whenever you have the cravings! Fantastic tacos, filled with flavours, rich and juicy.Rmb to make a reservation, especially for taco tuesday, where it is 50% off dine-in: but the spaces goes really quickly! Then, it is very worth the price. Original is a bit expensive ~$60 for one taco.Anyhow, love the food and vibe here.
MoreBest place for tacos! MUST have the baja fish tacos 👍👍 The oysters one was tasty, there was 3 pieces of oysters per taco as well as the Caulifornia veggie had a nice kick. Also had the shrimp and lamb taco, tasted decent but just didn’t shiny as much as the others. Overall food was great must come back for their taco Tuesday and that fish taco! Our beer wasn’t cold enough and the seating wasn’t the most comfortableThe restaurant is a bit hard to find, you have to go past this back alleyway and up some stairs
MoreDecent tacos and great ambiance. Really enjoyed the lunch, ordered Baja fish, carne asada, carnitas, mango shrimp tacos and quesadillas, they tasted along what you’d expect at a proper Mexican place.A bit on the pricier side though, so would give 4.5 stars if there was the option
MoreFresh tacos that decently flavourful and worth getting on Taco Tuesdays when all tacos are 50%. Would I pay full price? Not sure.My husband and I were seated at the bar and received attentive service. It was a bit of a hassle to book reservation online for Tuesdays but I would say its worth visiting at least once if youre in the mood to taco out.
MoreThe place is a bit difficult to find. But you can enjoy great Mexican food once you get there. It offers good deal for weekday lunch. The flavours are really powerful and well-balanced.
MoreHeres an interesting place serving Mexican food and theres also bar area too. The menu is limited and so are the food choices which have no indication on size. It was a real challenge to view the menu, however, because it was far too dark inside to read, let alone the small print in the menu. Service was quite good with friendly staff. The atmosphere was pretty romantic and the food quality was generally good. Would be nice, though, if you could see what youre eating, rather than having to use the mobile phone light to illuminate. The prices were medium high. Overall, I enjoyed my experience there.
More5 stars for their taco tuesday. Any other day, I think the tacos are too expensive. But yummy and worth it on a Tuesday!
MoreBeautiful ambiance and nice decor. Entrance a bit weird but overall good place to enjoy Mexican flavor. Loved the tacos but some food was u.der seasoned. Still have some room for improvement. For sure will visit soon again.
MoreI’m not a fan of Mexican food. However, they really make a Very good Tacos. I love the Baja fish and Mango shrimp.Good show to make a Guacamole in front of u.However, ordered two main. Octopus and Steak. Can skip and order two more tacos.
MoreBest tacos in hk. Al Pastor was great, birria was good but too much lamb. Elotes will make you full so be careful not to fill your tummy so fast. Tableside fresh guac was awesome. Definitely will visit again.
MoreCool vibe and enjoyed it. However cant give 5 stars with that price... Each taco (1is over 50hkd which seems too much to me even for HK prices...Or the guacamole which is delicious and they prepare it in front of you... But seriously 150HKD for guacamole...The variety in the menu is broad and they have one of my favourite micheladas in the city.Wish it was more affordable to be able to go more regularly but with this prices it is hard...
MoreGood authentic Mexican food is hard to come by in Hong Kong. So we had to try this when we saw some Instagram photos. If it were up to the food alone, I would rate this a 4.5 stars. The tortillas and chips were wonderfully fresh and made in store, and the food is truly one of the more authentic and pleasant ones Mexican restaurants in HK.However the hostess was rather rude, looking incredibly upset and irritated before even speaking a word with her. It was not a nice welcome to the restaurant. The bathrooms were so dark that seeing anything was practically impossible. The tissue papers provided were black, and we had some black colouring stain our fingers from the tissue after it was wet.Once you know that there are stairs to arrive at the restaurant, it is relatively easy to find, no difficulties there. With non-alcoholic drinks the meal came up to over 1,600 HKD, which is definitely on the pricey side of HK Mexican food.We ordered the GSC - Guacamole, Salsa, and Chips. This dish was prepared table-side and was excellently seasoned, we were given a spoon to taste before serving for personal taste adjustments. 10/10The tacos here were definitely above average and one of the top ones in Hong Kong.Mango Shrimp Taco: 10/10Baja Fish Taco: 8/10Lover’s Beach (tempura oyster + uni): 10/10Pollo Asado Taco: 7/10Al Pastor Taco: 8/10Carnitas Taco - very salty : 3/10Carne Asada - 10/10Quesadilla was excellent, beef was tender and shrimp flavourful. 10/10DESSERT:Tres Leches was below average, definitely had better ones before. 3/10Churros were good, a classic. 8/10
MoreThere are Mexican taco chains in HK but not that many Mexican restaurants. We havent been to 11 Westside previously but were interested to go as some people claimed that to be best tacos in HK. The restaurant is located at a relatively hidden space. You will have to enter through the alley beside 11 Davis Street and go up the stairs. The place has a high ceiling and has an industrial feel to it. We were sat at the bar tables with high chairs in the middle. Honestly speaking that werent the most comfortable of seats. Food wise, we picked various tacos, guacamole, quesadilla. Really liked the freshly made guacamole that they made in front of you - using avocado thats just ripe, chopped red onions, chilli and lime juice. Very refreshing mix. Indeed most of their dishes have fresh lime juice in the base. But after you had a few dishes with similar taste and as we had the quesadilla which was pretty heavy, you started to get a little overwhelmed. Overall it was a nice dining experience but I probably wont visit regularly (perhaps quarterly).
MoreThe restaurant locates secretively on the patio of a building, chic interior, super high chairs. However foods and drinks are average only not particularly impressed.
MoreCraving some tacos? Check out 11 Westside! This place is hidden in an alleyway - but once you climb up the stairs it brings you to this beautiful restaurant! I recommend ordering the guacamole with chips, they actually make the guacamole right in front of you! My personal favourite is the beef taco, they are also known for their shrimp and fish!.I recommend coming to this place during their Taco Tuesday, where their tacos are 50% off! What a steal 😍IG: eatswithchui
MorePossibly one of the best tacos in town? (Hong Kong doesnt many choices for Mexican foodTacos are well balanced, quality of ingredients are tip top and the sauces have just the right amount of heat and complexities.Fresh guacamole is also available and made on the spot.
MoreBig Mexican restaurant with many tasty food choices.Hard to find due to poor signage, 11 Westside turned out be a real treasure. The set lunch menu is true value for money and the food delicious. The stuffed tacos are three bites each yet filling. The crispy kale taco makes this place worthy of a return visit. The taco chips were crunchy and the accompanying salsa was different to the red tomato variety.Set lunch minus the soft drink and a bottle of wine came to $7xx for two.Dropped a star due to poor signage and dark toilets.
MoreI always wanted to try this after watching Netflix chef competition. Finally I am here, I booked this restaurant a month ago as my friend told me to go on Taco Tuesday.I didn’t know what that mean before but now I know!!! Which means taco would have half price on every Tuesday!!!We were so happy and we order all of the tacos which was shown on the menu except the last one.I like the pork and the fish the most!!Then we ordered the octopus to try! It was so so good too!I love it!!! Will definitely come back again!!
More1. Staff got my time slot wrong :( even I stated clearly on my email reservation. Not happy with that staff.2. Very dark and difficult to read the menu. Nice decoration though3. Not authentic Mexican but food tastes lovely and suits everyone.4. Would recommend this restaurant to people who is new to Mexican cuisine.
MoreOne of the above average Mexican restaurants I have tried. The food did not disappoint and didnt leave any unpleasant MSG after taste! Could have better service. I would recommend any of the tacos and the churros.
MoreThe taco is what they are famous for. Make sure you try few kinds of their tacos. However, each one is going to set you back 48-58HKD. Few drinks and few tacos can easily cost you over a grand... Not exactly worth that much consider they are tacos. They also only serve soft tacos. Sorry for those who loves hard shell.
MoreAs a fan of the show the final table, i expected a lot to taco king to fill the crave of genuine tacos.Disappointing points.1. One piece with that price? I consider myself as I have had enough exposure to mexican restaurants coming from my two years experience in Austin, TX, and one piece of taco for about 70hkd is way too much. Taste was good, but I would not revisit considering the value.2. Lacking balance for enchilada. Again, enchilada costs higher than its value + without balanced taste. They put this and that, but overall, the plate becomes nothing more than 8usd value street food.I expected more from Taco King, and I think he could do much better if this were a lower priced restaurant.
MoreThis restaurant has a very nice environment and is popular. You might have to wait a while unless you have a reservation. Tuesdays, tacos are half price but do make a reservation or be prepared to wait an hour. Food is served quickly and there is a good wine selection.
MoreThis place has the best tacos in town. Creative combinations of ingredients are used in tacos, which also match so well with one another. Cocktails are great too. The owner was on Netflix The Final Table!
MoreOne of the Best Mexican restaurants I’ve been to in HK. With REAL Mexican food: choriqueso, tacos de pastor, handmade tortillas and guacamole, traditional orange juice. VERY well done! The bar is awesome, the jazzy music very cozy and the service great as well. Would get 5 stars if it gets to its full potential. For example add this little extra cooking time on the tortillas that would turn them from good to great ; grill a bit more the meat and cheese so it’s real Mexican-street-food style ; and some home made salsa on the table vs commercial ones (even if they are really good quality ones). Still one of the best places to eat Mexican in this city.
MoreNice decor. Vibrant atmosphere. Good food and service, price was reasonable BUT there wasn’t enough ac while we were seated next to the patio doors that were constantly being opened/closed. NOT cool at all!
MoreDelicious tacos! The fish and the Al pastor are worth a try! The cheese dip also hit the spot! Genuine west coast tacos in Asia!
MoreThe best taco and Mexican food in HK. If you are in the area this place is a must. If you are an expat in Hong Kong and want a little taste of California this is your place. Chef Esdras is called the taco king for good reason.
MoreGood atmosphere for big parties, music is a bit loud if you wanna talk. Overall the food was good. El pastor taco was filled with flavour with a punch of pineapple, whereas the carnita was too wet, making the taco too soggy.
MoreBest Mexican Restaurant in Hong Kong. Tacos al pastor are delicious. A bit pricey, but great atmosphere. Love the speak-easy bar in the back. Only downside is staff, which is not friendly at all and gives the impression they really dont want to be there. A smile sometimes doesnt hurt...
MoreVery nice tacos and the place was chilled. But you have to make the booking in advanced if you want to try the lunch menu. The entry of the restaurant is also difficult to find, it located in the back ally of the building. However, the staff is not that well organized and the phone can never be reached. The only way to communicate is sending emails but not quite responsive.
MoreIf youre looking for anything decent to eat dont go here. The lack of attention to detail in service and especially the food was hugely disappointing. To name a few things that just should not have been served without proper quality control:- Poached sweet corn was not sweet and not seasoned well. Was it even poached in salt water? Wheres the corn from? Its not corn season- Beeroot salad was severely unbalanced and poorly constructed. Everything sounds good on the menu but the people in the kitchen arent even tasting their own food or setting standards to say the least! Overdressed and arugula soaked in dressing, beets cut in all different sizes and undercooked, and arugula stems hanging off my plate (see photo)- Tacos - great variety but every single taco was cooked differently, different thickness & different color. Some were undercooked and falling apart, some were cooked too quickly on high heat there were visible brown spots on the taco. Also, garnishes are sloppy (i.e. large chunks of onion and chunks of shredded abbageand the chili mayo sauce overpowers with heat- Quesadilla was served like an open pizza, which is a different way to serve but its not called a quesadilla then. The grilled queso didnt do it justice because the oil separated and the cheese was just chewy. Maybe they used the wrong type of cheese for melting or it was too close to the heat source- shrimps in the tacos and quesadilla - please dont order this if you dont want to eat shrimps with their poop. This is a basic and fundamental thing every chef should know - you devein shrimps! I cant believe such basic knowledge doesnt even exist in their kitchen. Whos running the show here?
MoreI went with two friends for Taco Tuesday (all you can eat tacos for two hours). It is a very hidden location, and at first we thought we might be in the wrong place -- but once we got up the stairs it was clear we had come to the right place. We had a reservation and were seated rather quickly. The selection of tacos was admirable - all served on handmade tortillas - fresh and filling. I believe we each ate around 15 tacos by just going through the selection twice, then finishing off with our own favorites. Drinks were strong and there were some interesting choices - I had a drink made of tequila and clarified grapefruit juice called A Moment of Clarity.Service was attentive and there was plenty of warning as our two hours came to a close - there was always someone available when we were ready for more, and they came fairly quickly.Prices for the Taco Tuesday event were very reasonable given the upscale atmosphere and the reputation of the celebrity chef owner. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Hong Kong.
MoreAlso went there bc of final table. Service was not so bad or maybe we went there early. One thing is we ordered two coffees but it turned out one coffee is two cups? I’m not v happy that the waitress didn’t tell us this. No one wants to have so much coffee at 5pm. Tacos are nice but not amazing. Wine is expensive there. Better than chino.
MoreI came here for brunch on a Saturday and had the restaurant week lunch set. I wanted to come here when it first opened but at that time it was too busy to get a seat. Things have changed dramatically as the restaurant is pretty empty during lunch hours. I hope this doesn’t continue as I really enjoyed the food here and good Mexican food is hard to find in Hong Kong. My rating is based on:Food: 4.5 starsAtmosphere Service: 4 starsValue: 3.5 starsRecommendations: churros, carne asada tacos, fish tacos, Brussels sprouts, guacamoleThe food here is very good. This is the by far the best Mexican food I have had in Hong Kong. I haven’t eaten at Chino yet so I can’t say definitively it’s the best. I had the Quesadilla, Brussels sprouts, kale salad, taco plate, churros and pancakes. Something I would avoid is the quesadilla. It’s pretty hard to have a quesadilla not taste good but I don’t like the version here and the price point is way to high for how small this dish is.1️⃣The Brussels sprouts were really good. They are crispy and soft at the center. It is topped with a poached egg and carnitas. The savory sweet marinade was a nice touch and we devoured the whole plate.2️⃣The kale salad is topped with a poached egg and the dish contains thinly sliced apple which provides a nice bit of sweetness and crunch to the salad. The sweet potato was a bit out of place but didn’t take away too much from the dish. I would order this again although not as good as the Brussels sprouts.3️⃣The taco plate is really why I wanted to come here. Tacos are a simple dish but hard to execute well and I was hoping that this would fulfill my taco cravings. The tacos here are really good. I tried the carne asada, fish, al pastor, carnitas, and shrimp. The tacos I found the best were the carne asada, and the Baja fish taco. The carnitas and al pastor were also good. The shrimp I wouldn’t recommend d. The meat to tortilla ratio is quite high. I would guess about 1.5 times the norm and these will fill you up.4️⃣The desserts we ordered were the churros and the pancakes. Both of these are really sharing size portions. The churros were amazing. They were crispy, moist on the inside. I will definitely order these the next time I come. I really didn’t have room for the pancakes and these don’t really make too much sense as a dessert. They were pretty good, but I was too full to enjoy these.Overall, I had a really enjoyed the food and had a good experience. Definitely will come back when I want some Mexican food.
MoreFinally a decent Mexican plan in HK! The guac is made at your table - to your specifications. It was DELICIOUS! There were plenty of tacos and tasty. Vegetarian options are a little limited though.
MoreI love 11 Westside...if only it was slightly reasonably priced, I would go there more often. The ambience...for lack of a better word...is different! It’s not what you’d expect of a Mexican restaurant. With chandeliers and drapes and what not...it’s does give the restaurant a cozy yet posh look. There’s not much of a drinks menu, but the cocktails from whatever we’ve tried have been pretty good (though pricey...but I love the fact that they’re environmentally conscious and serve their drinks with metal straws). As for food...the tacos are nice especially the carnitas and California veggie...but pretty pricey. (The price on the menu is the price per taco!I like the show of having the Guacamole made fresh at the table (when you order the GSC)- it also helps me tweak the taste (I always end up asking for more salt and lime!). The quesadillas are strictly okay but the tres leche cake...totally not worth it! I’ve had my share of tres leche cakes in California and unlike those, the cake served at 11 Westside was dry with a dollop of watery cream poured on top...I couldn’t eat beyond two bites! (I think it’s been taken out of their menu now as well)
