Lobster soup had several prawns in it, no lobster at all. Different from what was shown on the menu. But it was good, filling and warming up. The bread roll was rather sweet, of poor quality and didnt match. The service was great, the staff friendly and willing to have a chat and they gifted us the famous Polish prince polo for dessert. One thing we couldnt stand though was the smell of frying oil on all our clothes when we left. We didnt smell it inside the bar, but later on all the clothes we were wearing, our skin and hair smelt terrible and we were heading straight to the airport for our flight :(
The food is good, the price is right, and the staff are courteous. We ordered seafood soup (it came with a bun& the mashed potatoes (it came with a slice of sandwich). Location was right in front of the rainbow 🌈 street. Look for Cora & Freddie, they are wonderful!
Come to this fast food reastaurant to sample the fresh catch langoustine soup and the fish and chips platter and youll be delighted. Staff is very very welcoming, all of them. Youll feel on your clothes the smell of fried food for the next forthcoming days as a good souvenir. They have a first floor room to eat. If you consider this is a fast food parlor then the prices are not in line with what one would expect.
Friendly staff, very delicious and big portions 🫶🏽 we tried traditional fish stew and lobster soup and both dishes were delicious 🤤 at the end they gave us polish Prince Polo (chocolate barand it was super cute 🥰 if you sit outside you can enjoy the rainbow street view 😜
Small and cozy place for hot food. The main dishes were great, lobster soup was a bit disappointing for me. Icelandic meat soup tasted like mutton soup and is great!Overall a great place to get a variety of different food.
The place is small and the tables turn fast. We got the fish and chips with a lobster bisque. It’s not a very rich or dense soup but it’s nice when it’s cold out. The fish and chips were delicious and probably some of the best I’ve had so far. Giving it a 5 star for the fish and chips and helpful service
Cheap finds in Reykjavik without compromising the quality of food! I loved the traditional Icelandic soup. Staff were also warm and welcoming! They even gave us chocolates for desserts, for free!
Located in tourist area so probably mainly tourist will eat here but I was quite happy with my choice. Fish stew was what I ordered as it was recommended Icelandic dish. It was pretty good.
Stopped in during a rainy afternoon to warm up. We got the fish n chips and lobster soup. Both options were plentiful and tasty. Location was perfect for a early afternoon stop while we continued to pop into stores to shop. We sat upstairs as we watched everyone along rainbow road.
Nice and affordable. Good quality food for a reasonable price considering Reykjavik is expensive. The chicken noodle soup is nicely seasoned and the broth was super tasty. Service was friendly and gave us each a free chocolate bar after paying!
2022.09 ordered fish stew, meat soup, lobster soup, seafood soup and fish and chip. Fish stew is like mashed potato with fish meat; lobster soup has lot of lobster meat; and seafood soup has lot of shrimp, scallops in there. Not that a lot but more than I thought. Meat soup is a bit disappointed compared to other; fish and chip also great. It is a fast food like restaurant menu has 9 items. The other I didn’t order are the noodles
This restaurant is very friendly, you eat first then go to pay later. Second floor has lots of seating with restroom. The fish and chips here are good and fresh. The seafood soup, lobster soup and meat soup are delicious (except the meat soup my friend said is fishy, but I dont feel it).My friend tried the noodle in soup is good taste too.The fish stew is not much fish inside and you can skip.
Good quick eats but the expectations were set so high that I ended up being disappointed. We definitely enjoyed it, and relative to the prices in Iceland its fairly cheap too (but not by any other world standards, except maybe Switzerland). We were just hoping for bigger portions, but the taste and flavor were definitely there. Super friendly staff and fun atmosphere too!
Easy Icelandic food served very fast - this is what you find here. The menu is quite poor since everything is already cooked. All main dishes cost ~ 14 euros
These fish and chips have changed my outlook on the future of our next 40 generations. They tasted like innovation and the old classic all at the same time, kind of like if your grandma hit the Griddy. I especially admired the plethora of sauces available at the counter upstairs which ensures that you are getting the culinary experience that speaks to you. Great fish, great chips, great service. 10/10 would recommend
For our Kababayan from USA or Pinas, - visit Cora & Freddy @ 101 Reykjavik Street Food & get an awesome food & service. We ordered their famous fish & chips along with the lobster and seafood soups. Fish was very soft and the soups were flavorful & filing. Soups also came with a roll. They offer several sauce options for your fish & chips - Tartar, Cocktail, Chili, Ketchup & Mayo. We liked the Cocktail sauce with our fish & fries. For desserts & take away we got Chocolate wafers to enjoy. We had a very lively & relaxing dinner.
(July 2022Had best fish and chips in this city that didnt cost a fortune (plus all my favourite sauces in one place)!!Also enjoyed the cosy warm vibe and view from the upstair seating. If you love street food and not looking for a fancy restaurant, look no further!I would go there again and again!!
Delicious and affordable food, wonderful staff... would certainly recommend! The shrimp soup and fish with mashed potatoes are a must!
Tasty, fast and not so expensive local food - try the mashed potatoes with fish, its just delicious! If youre cold and sitting outside, ask kind and fast staff for a blanket.
By far the best value for quality of food & experience we had in Iceland! The hosts are incredibly friendly, prices are affordable, and the food was delicious. We ordered fish & chips and the Icelandic fish stew - the stew was very delicious and memorable, fries were delightfully crispy. The host gifted us a lovely mousse dessert along with a couple chocolate bars for the road.
This restaurant has a wonderful menu, and we greatly enjoyed their fish and chips and chicken noodle soup. The restaurant is cozy downstairs with an upstairs that has many more tables. The staff are excellent, welcoming us warmly and very attentive. We had some wonderful discussions with them as we ate our hot and wonderful food, which warmed us up during a cold and wet Icelandic day. They were very welcoming to our three kids!Compared to many of the other restaurants on the street, this was very reasonably priced. The fish and chips were excellent, light and flaky, and were very fresh, definitely not preprocessed into sticks or anything like that. You got a lot of food, so you dont have to worry about being hungry after leaving! I would highly recommend This to anybody walking the street and craving fish and chips!
This was a great place! The server for us was incredible! He was super nice, helped us with our food choices, even hooked us up with some refills!! We really enjoyed the fish stew and meat soup. Both were great. We highly recommend for some quick solid food!!!
After eating at a few higher end restaurants in Reykjavik I stopped here for a quick lunch. This was some of the best food I had during my two weeks in Iceland, I went there a total of 6 times: I had the fish stew x2, chicken noodle soup, seafood soup, lobster soup, and meat soup. It may look like a “quick eats” place, but everything phenomenal. In addition to the great food, the service is as good as it gets, everyone is super friendly. Don’t miss it.
Fish stew was great - kinda like a gritz texture or creamy mash potatoes vibe. But it’s fish. Also got the fish n chips and fish soupSuper quick food and little candies upon checkout!Seating is upstairs and can also sit outside if its nice out and people watch!
Delicious food and decent prices (for Iceland lol). Had to go back a second time. First time I had the seafood soup, the second I had the Beef noodle soup. Both were amazing
Food was delicious and much cheaper than the competition. Service was excellent. Definitely worth a stop!
Ive ordered the Fish and Chips with the Tartare Sauce along with the Lobster Soup. The sauce was the best Ive ever tested, the fish and chips were both crispy and succulent, and the lobster soup was overwhelmingly delicious. The service was also great. A well deserved 5 stars
Food was amazing! We had the chicken noodle soup, fish and chips and seafood soup. Everything was delicious!! Service was excellent and to top it off I dont know if the lady at the cashier was the owner but she was the sweetest person! We had a couple of minutes conversation and she gave us sweets and chips to take on our trip. She was definitely a highlight of the trip. Highly recommended!
TLDR: come here, cheap and great food with nice staffCould not have had a better experience here, and that is nor an exaggeration. Quite literally, from the minute I stepped in the door, the owner of the restaurant was chatting with me and we were like best pals. For the food itself, it is great! I had the meat soup - best lamb stew I’ve ever had, definitely top 5 of meat soups - and the lobster soup - creamy but not overly rich, vaguely spiced like a Thai curry - alongside a Viking beer to cool down my tongue from the piping hot soup! 5/5 stars, 10/10 experience.
Cant comment on seating, we were outside. We stopped for a quick bite - the seafood soup and meat soup were totally delicious, unexpectedly! Little place for a quick hearty meal
Had some delicious food here and the staff was really kind! Classic fish and chips with all the sauces you could wish for and my favourite a really tasty lobster soup ! Even got some snacks to go. Highly recommend to go here. I think its popular since a lot of people after us had to wait for a table, not so long though and worth it !
Really tasty food at a great price. Good place to call in for a quick bite whilst exploring the city. Lobster soup had lots of big chunks of meat in and was super tasty! Would highly recommend it
Incredibly good fish stew! Great place to go and get a snack. Tasty food and great location! Friendly staff as well.I recommend!
If you want a delicious, affordable, fresh meal, this is the place to go! We had the beef noodle soup which was super tasty with succulent chunks of beef, and the fish and chips which were also tasty. What is even better is the hospitality. The people in there are so kind, we were given two free chocolate treats at the end which was very thoughtful and wholesome :)
Went here for a cheap (for Icelandlunch, nothing fancy, we preferred the fish stew to the soup, its definitely better value for money. If you want a no frills lunch for a good price, then worth a visit. The free chocolate on the way out was a nice touch too. Friendly staff as well.
This place, in the heart of Reykjavik, truly exceeds beyond my expectations. In terms of service I was treated like family. In terms of food, I ate like a king. This place has hands down the best fish and chips I have ever eaten in my life (I am a Canadian who eats alot of fish and chips). Other menu items I tried was the lamb soup, which was exceptional. Along with the local drink Appelsin, my taste buds exploded with great pleasure. Shoutout to Patrik for doing a great job with my food and serving me. I cannot stress enough how great this place was! I will definitely come back for more!
[September 2021] I had gotten food for takeaway, and I thought the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff was an excellent representation of the hospitality and kind nature that was present throughout my travels in Iceland. Despite having arrived shortly before close, they whipped up Kjötsúpa [Icelandic Lamb Soup] and included a Prince Polo bar to boot! It was raining quite a bit that night, and upon noticing the wet and fogged up glasses I was wearing they even gave me a glasses lens wipe for the road, which I thought was a very kind and unexpected gesture. The soup was hearty and delicious.
I would give this place 6 stars if I could. Delicious food, super friendly service and they even gave us chocolate to go! Dont miss it if youre looking for delicious food at a good price as a tourist.
Perfect place to stop and escape the snow. Food was delicious and the staff were so friendly. Very reasonably priced too, we highly recommend!
When l arrived there, l told to the lady behind the till that it was my birthday during our short chat. Then, we ordered lobster soup and fish and chips, which were absolutely delicious. Then, the lady turned up with two desserts with birthday candles on them and sang Happy birthday to you. When leaving, she also gave us wafers and chocolates.I was not expecting this much kindness and generousity from a person whom l met half an hour ago.I was very moved with the whole experience.Dear good-hearted lady, thank you very much! You made my birthday very special and lll remember it for the rest of my life!
Fish ‘n Chips check! Lobster soup check!🦞The key to their crispy freshness is changing out the cooking oil regularly. Hence the golden color! Complemented with lemon & tartare sauce. Oh & don’t forget to try their chili mayonnaise & bam > you’ll be back tomorrow! And if you’re really well mannered, you may even get a complimentary chocolate waiver biscuit! 😉
This was one of a few restaurants that were open on new years eve for dinner. We failed to go to two other restaurants and just decided to go in because we were getting tired. Food was surprisingly delicious. We had lobster soup, chicken noodle soup and fish and chips. All of them were very yummy! The owner gave us two chocolate bars as we got out of the restaurant and it was quite a pleasantly nice gesture from them. Located in a main street, very accessible. I think this is a great spot if you want a quick bite.
This place has great Icelandic food at a very reasonable price. The loster in the loster soup was so fresh and the meat soup was very tasty and loaded with lamb. Although the batter is different than UK but the Fish and chips are so flaky and soft, easily be the best in Reykjavik for the value. Highly recommend.
Loved this place! We had the seafood soup, lobster soup and the fish & chips. Loved every single one of them - the seafood soup has lots of pieces, its flavoursome and perfect for a cold winter day! The fish was cooked so well, the batter stuck to the fish meat and wasnt greasy at all. The staff were lovely and friendly - the owner was hilarious, he has charisma and a good sense of humour! Everything here is cooked with love. And bonus - at the end, when you pay for your food, youre given delicious sweets!
My girlfriend and I just had dinner here, delicious lobster soup, as well as, the Fish Stew. Excellent food quality. Staff serving and the gentleman at the till were extremely warm and approachable! Plus we got a little chocolate treat when we were paying. Definitely, I will recommend this place to my friends and family coming to Reykjavik!Reasonable price compering to other restaurants in this area
Staff super friendly and the server was super tasty just like the food. Perfect for a warming great value dinner. Highly recommend visiting on your travels to iceland. Icelandic meat soup, the beef noodles and lobster soup 😍🤗😋
Wow wow wow! Really tasty food with the friendliest service ever. The Lobster soup was delicious and everything I had hoped for, the fish and chips was also top notch! Fresh cod, perfect light batter, no soggy oil at all, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This place is an absolute gem! One of the best fish and chips Ive ever eaten (even better than most from UK). And for great price in heart of Reykjavik. And as a bonus you can have a chat with the owner and his great staff. If youre thinking about having a great meal, this place is a no brainer. Just go there!
Great location for a nice bite in a lovely environment.Less than 2000 ISK for each meal, the price is on point. The portions might be a bit small but for our appetite it was the perfect size. We had a complementary dessert for waiting a bit longer than expected, which was very lovely and nice. Many reviews mention the kindness of the staff and this is not an overstatement, everyone there is nice. We were nicely greeted and taken care of.I definitely recommend to go there if you are looking for a place to eat fast yet very good food.
I did a quick google menu search before walking the block from my hostel to this small but very welcoming restaurant. It was the most incredible service I’ve ever experienced from the moment I walked in. Not only did the owner greet every customer that walked in, he opened the door for those who were pondering the menu in the window.I walked in and order the Icelandic Fish Stew, and while I waited the owner literally threw me 2 Prince Polo candy bars, telling me, ‘one for while you wait, and one for afterwards!’The Icelandic Fish Stew was incredible, along with the rye bread served along with it. Once I was done, and very full, he offered me a free taste of another dish, a beef soup. Once again telling me, ‘and if you like it, you can have more.’Overall it was such an incredible dining experience. The combination of service and the food makes me want to return again. I’m already planning to visit tomorrow.
