Very nice place and strongly recommend to visit there. you will not regret for that.for who want to donate flowers.. allow only jasmine and garland flower(shwe pann. ngwe pann). others flowers are not allowed to bring inside.Near botataung.. if you rake a minute walk..there is a river bank..you can feed seagulls.
being there makes us more valuable the religion we believe .
Famous and historical pagoda in Myanmar. not only buddhist temple but also can see other believe.
The Botataung Kyaik De Att Pagoda is a famous pagoda located in downtown Yangon, Myanmar, near the Yangon river. One can actually walk inside the pagoda and watch a nice collection of historical findings.Gold-foiled plated walls, with rare and precious contributions from people on display. The interior is air-conditioned and thus not warm at all. Recommend to visit to appreciate all the art works.
One of famous pagoda in Yangon 💜🙏So peaceful and magnificent
We did not enter because of the entrance fee and much of we had already a bunch of visited pagoda/temple already.
Buddhas first sacred hair relic show inside. At BOTAHTAUNG TS. YANGON.12.04.2020
Ever seen a strand of the Buddha’s hair? Me neither until I visited this pagoda. The vault of the pagoda was disturbed and rather than resealing it, this site was converted into a pseudo museum as well as place of worship. Very pretty and there’s even a couple of turtle ponds as part of the complex
This is another famous Pagoda among Myanmar people. Its located in Botahtaung township just beside the Yangon river. It is easily accessible by bus and taxi. Many people go there in the evening to pay homage to the Pagoda. Its also famous among Thai people. Many Thai tourists come and pray at the Pagoda.
Very peaceful and nice place. A good point to visit whenever in Yangon
Takes about an hour plenty too see celebrate the day you were born and make a wish and I hope it comes true. This is the most famous temple in yangon as they have four of the eight hairs that Buda gifted to berma
Famous pagoda located in downtown Yangon, Myanmar, near the Yangon river. The pagoda was first built by the Mon around the same time as was Shwedagon Pagoda.
Very amazing place ,must visit during your mayanmar trip
Very nice indeed a must visit temple for sure. Entrance fee is about 6,000 kyat. But what my wife and in get to see here is history.
Amazing experience. One can really see the history in their own eyes. They pagoda has Buddhas hair and body relic kept in the ornamented cascade. The history is written in english which is very rare in other pagodas of Myanmar. It has the huge bronze buddha statue containing the hair relic of Buddha.Foreigners have to buy tickets there for 6000 kyat but believe me its worth.
One of the things to see in Yangon, somewhat crowded, 6000 kyat entry. Not as spectacular as Shwedagon Pagoda but worthwhile trip to see. There was also turtles swimming and eating on the platforms.
Not far from the River View. Many Myanmar people come here to make wishes. The sit down facing the narrow ended space and wish! Many interesting collections can be seen. Good place to learn!
Myanmar people are the most Buddhist. We can go Pagoda, if we are holiday. One of the most ancient pagoda in Myanmar. Behind the pagoda you can see the river of scenery. That place is you must fresh air. If you want to visit the river, you can buy a Boat ticket.
The whole interior is gold, its quite awe-inspiring. Very quiet place though, not much people considering the size of the temple grounds
This pagoda is also the tourist attraction in Yangon, Myanmar. You should put this place in your bucket list. Heritage landscape, charmingly unique.
The Botataung Pagod holds Buddhas hair and a tooth. I was lucky, as when I visited the Temple before midday on a Tuesday, there have nearly no visitors. I was grateful to meet Den, a elder local who told me about Buddhism and how my date of birth is connect with it. Loved it.
Now,I live in a monastary near Bototaung pagoda. The is very wonderful.Foreiners are visit there everyday.Especially Thailand.
Nice temple to visit for a Buddhist.. I saw very few tourists..
Falling in love with this place. People there are nice!
Nice place. Worth to visit but rmb to wear long pants ya for respect. Spend some time visiting each temple and buddha tooth relics.
The Botahtaung Pagoda. It is situated by the side of Yangon River and one of the most famous pagodas in Yangon. It was built in King Okkalapa reign —almost the same time of building The Shwedagon Pagoda— over 2600 years ago. Mon and Myanmar Kings maintained and repaired along the history. But in 1943, during the second world war, this ancient pagoda was completely destroyed by a bomb. After the war it was rebuilt in very similar style to the old one. When I was young, I have been there and I saw that The Botahtaung Pagoda is hollow type and we can walk through it. We amused walking in the mirrored maze inside the pagoda and saw many ancient relics, artefacts, including small silver and gold Buddha images keeping in the glass showcases. Now it is closed inside the pagoda ( 2 nd of March 2019for renovation purpose and we cannot get a chance to go inside over about 15 feet. The pagoda was covered by mats and scaffolding. In the pagoda compound, we saw a huge bronze Buddha image represent to wisdom & awakening and Thailand souvenir shop as the new things.Botahtaung jetty is close to the pagoda and there we can have the Yangon River view and sit on a bench along the river bank.
This pagoda have Buddha hair. So more people visiting this pagoda. This is near in Yangon river.
Its ok, not worth the money. Didnt help that it was covered in scaffolding and mats so couldnt see the gold.
Most people are visited beacause the pagoda have hair of lord Buddha .
Beautiful pagoda next to the Yangon river. It is said to have been constructed to house Buddhas hair relic when it first arrived in Myanmar. This is also the only pagoda with a hollow interior. Hence it can be entered to appreciated the beautiful golden carvings inside.
My second time there. Quite unfortunate various parts under renovation December 2018. At least few more months before completion. Relic chamber under renovation. Was able to do a complete loop 4 years ago. Currently just in and out - 5meters at Best. Pagoda covered with mats and scaffolding.
Very interesting pagoda. At nigh very nice. For foreigners you should buy ticket, around 6000 kya. Local people will be free. After you buy ticket they will stick sticker on you shirt before you go inside. Your shoe and sock leaves outside, it safe. Go inside you will see Buddhist hair inside class boltle. You can go around and see more Buddhier as well! You should be go here when you visit Yangon.
One of the 3 "main" pagodas of the city, this one is unique because you can actually go inside of it. Theres usually groups of people reading/studying Buddhist texts inside, and its nice to see some of the symbolism displayed throughout it.
Now in September 2018, the temple is under renovation also the Pagoda. Even the maintenance works is in progress, it is amazing that the scaffold is made from all bamboos. I heard that the bamboo scaffolding is done to Shwedagon as well which is once in five years. Botataung is very famous among Thai people. No shorts or pants are allowed but you can borrow ‘Sarong’ at the tourist office. Like other temples no shoes and socks allowed to wear.
When I revisit this pagoda on April 2018, it was under renovation and could not enter all area inside pagoda. Administration fee for foreigners is K6,000. I am happy to donate for good renovation and expect renewal to be appears soon.
Its very famous pagoda.....i really love to visit and feel very peaceful....
The one of the famous pagoda in Yangon.Go and visit and meet the new experiences of indoor outdoor buddha treasure.
Amazing, even though this place was under renovation while I visited but I feel that how important of this pagoda to Myanmar people. Have a lot of people came here for praying and pay the respect to the Buddha ‘s hair that keep inside the pagoda. You allowed to came inside the pagoda too, the wall made from gold plate . You’ll see people praying here because this place make you feel closely to the Buddha . Outside the Pagoda have Golden Buddha statue in the Main hall on the right , this statue used to be in the Mandalay Palace . And in the small hall on the left is Nat Bo Bo Gyi ( the guardian spiritthat I saw people come for praying for a wish they believe that the spirit will make a wish come true.
Completely rebuild from 1948-1953 after being destroyed in 1943 during a bombing attack it’s a very impressive place with lots of history
6,000 kyat entrance fee for foreigners at the time I went - included free Tea-mix!
One of the most famous historic pagoda in Myanmar with great ancient architecture can be seen. Shine in day and bright in night as different nice views. A good place to develop concentration, esp in early morning and at night, basing on pure morality. This is also a nice place to focus on the recollection of The Buddha such as total free from defilements and teaching pupils to free from defilements, to get powerful concentration. After homage to The Buddha, we can do walking exercise near the pagoda along the river bank.
Interesting temple. 6000kyat pp.You can see in the influence from Indian buddisum.Funny to see the attractions for donations.Unfortunately the turtle ponds were grotty and being cleaned out while we were here.
Botahtaung pagoda is one of the symbolic pagoda to visit. Crowded with locals and foreigners especially Thai people. Many Thai are visiting the Bo Bo Gyi’s shrine for good luck. Entrance fee 6000 kyats per pax. Ladies has to cover up their legs with pants or cloth.
Good pagoda with Buddha relic and hair. Very grand as it is enclosed with gold and jewellery. Remember to pay foreigner tax to help up keep the pagoda.
