One of the iconic place of LA i would say. Spent amazingly time here going through all the astronomical facts. An inspirational spot for everyone to observe and ponder sky. The entry to observatory is free. The city and beach views from the top of observatory are spectacular and breathtaking. The observatory is open from 12PM to 10PM every weekday. The planetarium inside observatory has multiple shows and is 8$ per show and needs to be booked in advance just incase the visitors are more.Definitely worth visiting this space center

This is my favourite place of what I have visited in LA. The view of the city, the museum itself, the option of walking around and visit the park…It’s opened at night (7:00pm to 9:30pm if I remember correctlyso everyone can look through the telescopes at the roof and in the grounds.It’s so easy to get there (car or DASH observatory busand has one of the best “easy access” views of the Hollywood sign.

Very interesting and informative! The grounds have a beautiful view of LA and the Hollywood sign (though its difficult to see at night as its not litand one of the telescopes is open to the public. Inside is like a museum/science center - you could easily spend several hours in there. And its all free!

Wonderful place to come at night and see all of the lights of LA. You can really see how big the city is. Admission is free but you have to have proof of Covid vaccination, which I wasn’t aware of before hand. Thankfully I could access it on my phone or we wouldn’t have been able to get in. Masks were not required. Parking was $10 in the lot right by the entrance. The building is so clean and there are several exhibits to look at inside. There are 360 degree balcony views and several large telescopes. We got to see Jupiter, but just know they close the viewing around 9 and the observatory stays open until 10. Make sure to get in line before then if you want to do that. It was a really cool experience, highly recommend.

Absolutely gorgeous location. Really breathtaking views all around. Very friendly and helpful people working here. Saw the film with a live narrator who was excellent.The most gorgeous sunset.Parking is limited, but lots of bus service and very clear signage for ride share pickup.And my first senior discount 😆

The area surrounding it and the trails are so pretty! Coming from the forests of Ontario it was so amazing seeing a different terrain!The observatory itself was pretty cool. I recommend going at 9 and getting there early so you can take some good photos without the crowds! It’s a shame we weren’t able to go on roof! I wish it was more in depth for the museum part but overall super cool!🔭🌒

Nice place to visit. Took the DASH bus up and down and it was pretty easy and also free at the time. Great views of the Hollywood sign and the city. The inside of the observatory also includes some informative exhibits and there are shows in the planetarium. It was a lot busier than expected, both day and night.

Growing up, I seen this building in so many movies - I was blown away by it, as I approached in the car. Busy spot with tourists, make sure to come early or on the other hand, late, to catch a sunset or an event. Well worth a visit, plus the surrounding views of the Hollywood Hills is amazing!"On December 16, 1896, 3,015 acres (12.20 km2of land surrounding the observatory was donated to the City of Los Angeles by Griffith J. Griffith.[3] In his will Griffith donated funds to build an observatory, exhibit hall, and planetarium on the donated land. Griffiths objective was to make astronomy accessible to the public, as opposed to the prevailing idea that observatories should be located on remote mountaintops and restricted to scientists."

This is such an LA staple and it never gets old visiting. Parking is task but we enjoyed the walk up to the observatory as it is so beautiful in this area. We visited close to the closing time of the park but were still able to get everything in we wanted to do. Staff is very helpful and the views are breathtaking. Yes it is touristy but for good reason.

Great views of city, good hike however there are things that are completely ridiculous. I was passing through town for half a day to visit a friend and we decided to go to the observatory. Parking was a complete mess. They were not letting anyone park since the lot was “full” BUT we saw more than 10 spots open. To go inside, you need the vaccine passport that I did not have it on me at the time. Lately I’ve been traveling around the country and they’re not asking for it anywhere else…

One of the best places in Los Angeles. The view over the whole city is just amazing and the observatory is phenomenal with a huge exhibition about space. It is definitely worth it, hiking to the observatory, since there are not a lot of parking lots and it can be very full. The area around it is also amazing, with lots of paths for hiking and biking and amazing views.

Been to the outside of the observatory several times but this was my first time going in. Just as beautiful inside as it is outside! There are several interesting and interactive exhibits and a Tesla coil! The hikes around the observatory are equally amazing and I recommend going at sunset where you can see beautiful views of the city.

Visited the observatory for the first time on weekday (Thursdayaround 2pm, usually it opens on a weekday around 12pm the observatory was completely packed which I was surprised as it was a weekday not a weekend, yet it was really organized and nice tour for the family and the kids.Its completely free to enter!!The view is just amazing by the Hollywood sign if you want to take pictures and the amazing mountains looks amazing!!Also be prepared to present your COVID-19 vaccination card and wear a face mask to be able to enter the building otherwise you wont be able to!Couple more things you dont wont miss!! First is the show its a $10 show which is just amazing!! And keep in mind kids under 5 not allowed to this show for some reason also theres additional free presentations like tesla coil with specific time slots if youre interested to attend those.Parking is $10.00 per hour in the upper parking lot and on roads near the Observatory anytime Monday to Friday after 12:00 P.M. and on Saturday and Sunday after 9:00 A.M.

A must see if you are in the LA area. We visited on a Saturday morning at 10am. There is paid parking ($10/hralong the road towards the top and a small parking lot once you reach the top that fills up quickly. When we arrived the lot was full. We parked at the Greek Theater parking lot which is free. We took a free Dash shuttle to the top which departs about every 20 minutes. There is no cost to enter the observatory but proof of COVID vaccination with a photo ID and masks are required. We spent about 1.5 hours exploring inside. Many hands on and interactive areas. The museum workers were very knowledgeable and encouraged you to ask questions.Spectacular views of the city and surrounding areas from the upper deck of the observatory. We were able to go inside one of the domes to view the smaller Zeiss telescope which you can look through at night. In the evening telescopes are placed on the grounds outside the observatory for the public to view the sky.Would definitely go again.

Stunningly beautiful views in all directions. The Griffith Observatory is definitely worth a visit. It’s a very popular attraction but parking was easy. From such a high vantage point it’s amazing to see the hills and neighbourhoods falling away to the LA skyline in the distance. The major photo opportunity is of course the Hollywood sign perched above.

Prepare to walk! Traffic heading towards Griffith Observatory can be heavy especially in the afternoon on any given day. There are a couple options to park and walk up or if you’re ambitious, slowly make your way via car to the top. The views are incredible however and totally worth the journey. Entry is free although there are some pay to view exhibits we did not check out. I would love to come back after sunset to see if this is a good place to see stars!

If you bring comfortable sneakers and are patient, you will enjoy. There are usually tons and tons of people here but the views of city are certainly worth it. You should be able to also see the Hollywood sign close by. No food/water options that I remember

One of the best views of the city and of the Hollywood sign. Parking can be hard when coming around sunset or in the weekend. Try coming early on the day. On weekdays the parking is free and relaxed until 12pm, but note that the observatory and souvenir shops will be closed then.

Such an awesome (and free!thing to see! Parking can be tricky - we ended up parking for free at the bottom of the hill and walking the mile or so to the top - and I think you have to pay for the closer spots. NOTE: Masks are enforced and vaccination cards are required to enter…Both inside and outside, really cool experience, amazing views, and so much interesting info. We loved it and would definitely visit again!

Either you live at LA and youre a visitor, Te observatory is definitely a must place you have to include on the tour. Just by looking at this place, the interesting shows inside, the view of LA, the Hollywood sign, its simply amazing.IMPORTANT TIP - you can park down to Greek theater and there is a bus 🚌 that can pick you up and take you back from observatory and this is all for FREE.. amazing and Highly recommended 👌 👍 👏

No doubt to be number 1 place to visit in LA. Beautiful views, trails, landscape, sunset, Hollywood sign view. We could not cover everything, need at least 4+ hours. Parking closer to observatory is tough but there r plenty of options. Do some research and plan well to have a productive trip.

Every time I am in Southern California I visit Griffith Park Observatory. This trip was the first time I was able to visit for sunset and the views and the vibe did not disappoint. Absolutely spectacular views of the surrounding area. Now, parking can be a bit of a nightmare when the park is busy but I have always been able to park in the lot, just remain patient. There are clean public restrooms near the entrance, they were requiring vaccination cards and masks to enter the observatory but you are free to roam the grounds without showing your vaccination card. definitely worth the wait to see sunset from up here.

Lots of interesting and hands on displays! The views over the city are incredible. Lots of hiking trails nearby. Don’t miss the Tesla generator demonstration! NOTE: mask and proof of C-19 vax still required.

Feel the sunset vibes of LA at this amazing spot. This observatory and the surrounding parks offer a spectacular view of the city line and the night sky. You can enjoy watching the sunset here and just chill with your friends. The vibe of the views is too cool. To watch the planetarium show you have to purchase a ticket, otherwise its free.- very crowded and hard to find parking sometimes

Don’t expect to have a close up view of the Hollywood sign. Though it’s visible, it is still very small and far away.The observatory offers a great view of downtown Los Angeles and has nice collection for those who are curious about science.Make sure to a mask, and proof of vaccination 💉.

Griffith Observatory is a must go to place in LA.The experience between day and night is completely different!So I recommend to come slightly before sunset so that you could get a dip into both day and night.The LA night light is just incredible.Please do note that the parking is 10 dollar per hour. And just park whenever you see parking, because it is a bit challenging to find parking up the hill.

A must do when in LA!! There are so many exhibits, live cameras, Tesla coil, planetarium, table of elements, real telescopes to view at night, gift shop, pendulum, everything and anything to see and learn about space! The building itself is beautiful, the hiking trails around it amazing, the skyline is visible, and the famous Hollywood sign can all be seen here. Don’t be afraid to check for parking at the very top next to it, there was plenty. Be aware that you must have ID and Covid vax card to enter though.

B E A U T I F U Lif you’re visiting or a local this view never gets old it is so beautiful no matter what time of the day I’m sure at night it’s even more incredible.It’s a great place for learning and just kind of enjoying the vibe here it’s pretty welcoming to any age group and I know kids here will have tons of fun with all the science and stuff going around it’s pretty amazing! We had such a fun time here and we didn’t wanna leave also it’s great for taking pictures and everything here it’s just very aesthetically pleasing!

A cultural landmark for LA, but also a great mini museum. Entry is free but adults require an ID and proof of vaccination in order to enter. Parking is ten dollars an hour or you can park at the base of the mountain for free and hike up. There are add-on experiences at the planetarium which can also be purchased. There is also a gift shop and Cafe in the lower level.

Great views and fun time but note that the actual inside of the observatory (and thus food/ gift shops is only open Friday-Sunday). Ample parking at $10 per hour available at the top close to the observatory.The views are amazing and you get a great view of LA as well as the Hollywood sign. There are a couple of nice trails around the observatory starting at various points in the park which are worth considering.There is also a large scale solar system depiction on the ground to show its immense size. The large open ground is also quite nice.

One of the best places for photo op of downtown L.A. and the famous Hollywood sign. The place is of historical significance too. There is no entry fee but the parking lot has a tag of 10$ per hour.

Every time I am in LA, it is a mission of mine to always visit the Griffith Observatory! I love this place day and night! During the day, you can explore the observatory and watch shows in the planetarium. At night, you can see the city lights of LA come to life! Super dreamy! I highly recommend this place if you like city lights or you’re a La La Land fan!

What a nice park. The observatory is perched on top of Mount Hollywood with easy parking and free at the observatory if one arrives early and on a weekday before 12am. Wow! The Hollywood sign is visible from the observatory. What! Hiking down the mountain is easy but going up isn’t so easy so keep that in mind. Bring water and comfy hiking shoes. Great place

An absolute must see! The view is amazing. Interesting and beautiful architecture. Free!Go early to ensure you get parking or you will have to park and walk. With young kids you will definitely need a stroller.The view of Hollywood sign is perfect! Many photo ops.

We did not spend much time inside the Observatory exhibition area. Instead, we wondered around the open spaces to see some great views of LA. There were a lot of people walking around but it was still easy to just stop and relax a little. Unless you really like to walk or plan on spending a good amount of time there, I highly recommend just parking near the Observatory itself. There were many parking spots open during our weekend visit and it costs $10/hour.

Place where you can have a lovely view of Los Angeles. It is a beautiful place to visit, especially with the family. Many hiking trails are for people who like hiking and running. My little suggestion is if you want to see it do it early in the morning 🌅 Because you can find parking spots almost in front of the observatory.

This is one of my favorite places to go to in Los Angeles.The Good:—The views on all sides are absolutely breathtaking!—You can see the Hollywood Sign on the right side up on Mt. Lee.—You can park for free on West Observatory Road, West Canyon Road, and the upper parking lot by the Observatory on Monday through Friday from opening until 12:00 P.M. and on Saturday and Sunday from opening until 9:00 A.M.—There are a lot of trails near there, and there are many ways to get a great workout.The Bad—Parking is $10.00 per hour in the upper parking lot and on roads near the Observatory anytime Monday to Friday after 12:00 P.M. and on Saturday and Sunday after 9:00 A.M.—Currently, the buildings are only open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Astronomy nerd so of course I loved this tourist destination! I only gave it 4 stars because of the parking situation. The man directing vehicles was YELLING at guests! I couldnt believe it! Extremely rude, I felt bad for the cars of people he did that to. I wish they would ask every car if they are capable of walking long distances. The older and disabled should get to go up the hill firstly, but then also others who are injured or sore like I was:( We had to park down the hill and as we were walking up, he started letting all the cars go up...I was in pain:( Apart from that, everything else was lovely 😍 The view is incredible both night and day. A lot of air pollution of course. Wish the Café stayed open till the Observatory closed. Also would be nice to be given a small pamphlet with a map and details of the events and shows. I do recommend coming here, just bring a jacket! Was cute to see people having a picnic on the front lawn and on a date here:)

For anyone that lives in LA or is visiting, this is a must-go-to place. The views here are absolutely outstanding and breathtaking. A great photo spot to get some good photos on your trip or for your profile. They have a really cool observatory, cafeteria and some seating outside. I really loved visiting here and bringing our family, it was a nice spot and a great place to see some beautiful views. Theres also some hiking trails that people can go to. Please make sure you come and visit

The location is wonderful, and the views are spectacular. We visited on Presidents Day, and the observatory was unfortunately closed. Its a great spot to photograph the Hollywood sign. The city views are spectacular from this vantage point; Id love to visit at night to see the grid lit up. Restrooms are available, just so you know. On weekdays, parking is free until 12 p.m.; afterwards, you must pay a parking fee; adequate parking is available. very amazing place i love it soo much

What can you say, the GO is iconic on a number of levels. Its much larger than I expected and the displays are very interesting. My wife and sons saw one of the planetarium shows and they thoroughly enjoyed it. I stayed out on the upper terrace enjoying the unbelievable night view of the city and surrounding area. Itd be nice if the parking system was better but I guess you can only stuff a finite number of cars on a mountaintop. Recommended!

Amazing place and breathtaking views. Unfortunately, the observatory was closed as we went on the presidents day. Perfect place to see the hollywood sign and grab some pictures. The city views are amazing from here, would love to go at a night time to see the grid under lights. FYI, there are restrooms available. Parking is free till 12 pm on weekdays so if you make it early in the weekday, you wont have to pay for parking, otherwise you need to pay parking fee, ample parking is available.

I’ve been there 3 times! This is the first tourist spot that i went when i got here in America! Always wanna go back.. Love the museum and the overlooking Hollywood Sign. The thing that I don’t like is the parking haha, takes a long time to park. You need to go in early so you will have a parking spot. Overall a very good experienced!

An observatory worthies multiple visits if you can overlook the crowd. Admission is free and open late until 10PM. Park at the free lower lot. If able body, one can just hike up the hill in 15-20 minutes. There is also a shuttle runs between the lower lot and the observatory.Outside of the observatory, there is has beautiful view of of LA and the Hollywood sign. Time your trip there and you can see the sunset over the city.To get into the observatory, one needs to show an ID and vaccination card.There is a line to see the stars through the telescope.Don’t miss seeing the “big picture” at bottom floor exhibit. It was amazing!

Pretty gorgeous views and nice place to visit. When I went there (1/28/2022), they required full vaccination card and ID to enter the observatory area (even the outside of it), but I was lucky that I had brought those with me. There are nice hiking trails nearby, make sure to bring some water and shoes you dont mind getting dirty.

Was a beautiful place. I went with a group of friends and it made the experience a lot better. You get a beautiful view of LA and the Hollywood sign. Loved watching the short documentary about the buildings history. It was only 25 minutes long so I highly recommend it. The only thing I didnt do was watch the special showing of stars. Id definitely go back for that and take more friends who are into astronomy.

Super cool and definitely one of the most iconic LA landmarks. Views are one of, if not THE, best in all of Los Angeles with a city view and a Hollywood sign view! The observatory itself is also stunning. You can learn a lot and always be ready for surprise events happening in the park.

Seriously a must do hike with or without your dog. They have water stops up the trail where your pup can drink or just get there paws wet to cool them down. Views are unreal and some fun trails if taking a few of the off shoots along the main trails. They all lead back to the main trail. Have fun and explore.

Wonderful observatory with lots of small, but very engaging and fascinating exhibits about the natural world. Great gift shop, all the staff were super friendly. Offers an amazing view of the surrounding city and mountains as well as trails to walk around on. Absolute must for anyone who loves scenery and science.

An iconic California landmark which provides great views of Los Angeles from the rear and the Hollywood sign from the front. We visited during December 2021, so we had to provide proof of vaccination. They accepted my UK license and vaccination card. You can go inside to view the exhibits or up to the roof to see the views and one of the telescopes. You can park on the road leading up to the observatory for $10/hr (accurate 12/2021).
